BigMike55’s Ongoing Cannabis Log (Part 1)

Can’t say that I’ve ever had any issues with them. I’ve used them for support often.

Ok, I have to say it. As soon as @hoppiefrog said that, I remembered using some bamboo skewers on my Lemon Pie Atous. I immediately went to look. Lo and behold, right where the skewer went into the ground… A patch of grey/white fuzziness that was not supposed to be there. Who woulda thunk it?

I’ve heard that, but where I live they dry out so bad if left outside that I don’t worry. Maybe using stakes that have been constantly under the soil and moist for a long time would give me cause. If they’re old and dried good, you may be finished with them by the time they develop mold. I’ve never had issues either, but it might be because I had been told that, and I really don’t use them much. More on tomatoes than cannabis. I try and use wind and silicon to beef up the limbs. I rarely see floppy limbs.

I don’t really use them for the limbs. With the GG#4 I’ve been growing when they bulk up the whole plant will start leaning, so I use them to help with that.

The branches on my Skywalker kept drawing in towards the middle. I had to use skewers to hold those branches out. It worked out but I like the clothes hanger idea better.

Glad it may be of use. Works for me. These are about 6" long. You do have to be careful pushing down to spread. But you will know when to stop. Good luck with them brother.

Bamboo is mighty porous, I’m sure it wicks up water which might account for the mold on the surface. Coming from Asia it might also carry some different spores than we naturally see here. That said, I have used the ones from the garden center that have a green paint finish with no issues. Normally I chuck all that when I chop just for hygiene sake.
