Recently stumbled Upon a black and green mold stains forming in my apartment in the kitchen because of a water leak from the roof.Fast forward 1-2 months and I took my hipoclorous acid and used It some hours ago to kill the spores.It started to flush from the ceiling and the smell of earth mold started to flourish very strong.
Now,I have my tent in another room not far,with plants in ripening,Is this smell a bad sign?
Does It means It Will send spores to my plant?
Or are those different types of mold than budrot?
Does someone knows anything about ?
Idk with certainty but I’m fairly sure the air passing through our grows everyday has various mould spores in it but the conditions to grow aren’t suitable.
Personally i wouldn’t be too concerned about mould if your environment is in check, black mould is a different thing to bud rot there’s no need to worry there.
Are your gutters clean and free from debri or damage , everything flowing freely and not blocked etc over spilling or driping on to exterior walls
9 times out of 10 that’s where damp/mold is comin from ( simple fix ) and not actually roof ( harder fix )
Your apartment has high humidity if I remember , fix guttering or roof might help this
@Esrgood4u probably be best for advice : )
Your plants may be fine with black mold but your own health may not be ( your lungs )
But plants come first
I was renting a house with college mates and the owner didn’t tell us about the black mold… We ended up getting cleaning vinegar and a designated spray bottle and every now and then sprayed down the spot, leaving it for over an hour and then wiping it away with paper towel directly into the garbage.
It worked really well for us at least, mayhap this could assist?
That Is what I did this morning,my only concern Is for budrot/mold talking over from the spores I am “bothering” and wiping.I absolutely am cleaning that shit of a mold but since the plant Is in ripening I am very worried they can travel from the kitchen to my room.The smell too Is disgusting,even with Windows full open
@Pigeonman
My house has a problem with the roof.The flat I live in Is old and needed a rework.It happened that the past Winter a lot of Rain came down and created a stale water “lake” in my roof which Is not isolated a lot and had some leakage.Now my ceiling in the kitchen Is very infested and I am going to fight First the mold in the room,then got to deal with roof insulation materials…for the third time
I hear ya. Sadly I don’t know but if I were in your situation i’d continue the run and see if i can filter the air IN to the tent. It’s a pain in the ass but if you set it up right it’ll mean the carbon filter should catch anything during the majority of the run and the only time you have full exposure is when you open it all up to do any work.
If you spray down the mold first and then wipe it off while it’s still wet you’ll be trapping the spores before agitating them. Most of them I’d assume at least.
That Is my go to,I Will put the filter in the intake hole instead of exhaust fan
@Pigeonman
Currently I keep my room Door shut and let the Windows open,I want carry on to chop day,I see the seeds are Brown on the upper colas,so what time should I keep her alive ?
Glad you have the filter to do so!
If you’re ocd or worried you could also build a negative pressure “trap” where you get a 4" fan and another carbon filter and then do this:
Have the air pull down into the filter and it’ll be a vacuum of sorts.
In an ideal situation you’d have it pull through the outer surface area as that has a particle-filter you can swap out or spray down and clean with vinegar; but to do so will require you to use ducting to redirect the exhaust far away from where the mold.
To be honest it would be the most ideal to vent all of this back outdoors or you could just be blowing the problem from one space to another.
Probably my best bet there.How many days can I leave the plant with Brown seeds to be sure they ripen at maximum point?
@Pigeonman
That’s subjective but for me my personal choice when I do seed runs is that I usually run the plant as follows:
You should have the mold tested by a professional. It could be a very bad black mold. We have seen complete houses need to be torn down here in CA because of this toxic mold.
Black toxic mold is also known as Stachybotrys chartarum and is dark black or sometimes dark green. It is a highly toxic form of mold commonly found in attics. This mold releases mycotoxins which are toxic chemicals that are present in mold spores that get released into the air and can then be inhaled.
If you’re that concerned about it you an safely use your hypochlorous acid directly on your plants depending on the concentration of the Hypochlorous you’re using. Shit kills everything except the plant and I swear by it now!
I think its better to setup to push filtered air into your tent and have stagnant air passively blown out. I always set my tents up like this now to avoid any air contaminant that might be in my house lurking. Plants first right… my health second.
Seeds wise when did you pollinate your plant? And what week are you on currently?
Seeds are Brown already, hard and very big.But on the lower colas they have a Little green hue on the side.It seems The plant has been pollenated 30 days ago or a couple days more
@Rhai88
I m looking into killing the mold of course
5-6 weeks you should be good to not have many immature seeds. I’d give em a little more cook time.
Based on my calculation 15-10 more days and they should be good then right?
@Rhai88
each cultivar can be different but yeah I’d say around 5 to 6 weeks you should be safe. I pulled my males a couple days after 3 weeks this round and ran the females just past 8 weeks. Very few immature seeds then rest are great.
Good luck and hope you get the mold under control!
The only way to get rid of the mold is to fix the problem causing it
Until then you just going round in circles wastin money and time that could be spent sorting the problem
