Blowgank420’s first grow

Could anybody give me advice on the best way to plant seed after germination? This past time I used burpees seedling kit. But was wondering if I should go a different route with seedlings. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I’ve had that happen before as well. I think the peat pellets get too wet. Your only supposed to use 1 cup of warm water per 6 pellets. If you just fill a bowl with water and throw them in they can get to wet and your not supposed to squeeze when which I did.

I can tell you how I do it.
I always prefer to simply lay seeds in a wet paper towel, (no extra water in the baggie) a few drops of H2O2, slide that into a sealed baggie.
I found a sweet spot on my top of my T5 light frame, it is a touch warm there but not hot at all.
I usually see tails in 18 -24 hours.
I like to use 2 oz plastic rinse cups, holes around the base, add some starter mix in cup, I tweeze, the tails, and bean up, tail down, into the pre-moistened starter mix, under 24/7.
As the colty’s shoot upward, and get leggy, I’ll then pop them into 4" square pot, and bury them up their face, setting them closer to the T5’s.

At 4-6 points I’ll give some fertilizers, and for me, that means topping the 4" with my mixed organic medium.
In about 2 - 3 weeks, into a gallon pot, now it full strength of my mix.

About a month later, into a 3 gallon pot, I will add some feather meal, as that is a slow release nitrogen, about a week or so from her flower run.
This also helps me keep my perpetual cycle flowing, I know I got 2 months from cracking beans to going into flower, just about the same time as they in flower.
Since I work plants every 2-3 weeks in groups of 3-4 plants, either clones or seeds, I just found this sweet cycle that works for me.
good luck!

EDIT: I did find some pics, if they are helpful.

I got the germination down an this time got my ph lvl on the money. I over watered them last time an it caused my seeds to turn to mush. Any suggestions. Was wondering if I should add like a toothpick to help support the little guy??

I’ve made the too wet seed mistake myself. No need for support, I wouldnt touch it. If it starts to really stretch just move your light a little closer.
When you plant into a larger container you can bury as much stem as you like as roots will grow from the stem

One more quick question I’ve been keeping my temp around 74-78 with a 40%humidity should I add a humidifier to bump it up or is that a good number

Seedlings 70 to 80%
Veg 60 to 70%

I would go above the top numbers

Shit how do I raise the humidity? Should I turn off the intake fan? An just leave on my little tent fan?

Is there a way I can get my humidity up in the tent. I have a humidifier should I set it up in the tent or next to the intake fan sucking cool air Into the tent to keep the temp about 76 or should it be hotter in there??

Really why so high as a seedling?

Think about spring time…lots of rain and temps in the 70’s . That when seeds do their thing. That not saying you cant get things growing with higher or lower humidity. That’s just optional conditions.

To bring up humidity try closing your intake off some. Just keep an eye on your temps and keep airflow moving inside the tent as well. If temps get to high just add one of the cheap humidifier/ vaporizer.

I keep my seedlings around 70% and veg around 60% that keeps it like a greenhouse environment. Your plants will enjoy that environment and reward you. Make sure you also have air moving in those humid conditions.

Ok so I was able to get my humidity up to 60% from yesterday by running a hot shower for 40 mins with the doors open an intake fan on an seemed to do the trick. Thanks so much for the advice. I’m so excited it’s not even funny. Lol I find myself watching it grow

Leave them for about 10 days so they can grow more roots, then move to a small pot

My pleasure, it’s always fun watching them peek their lil heads up through the dirt.

I would just go for some small plastics 1/2 gal to gal

I start my seeds in peat pellets then when roots grow out of the pellet after a week or so move them to a solo cup. After a couple weeks in a solo cup I move them into my final 3 gal grow bags.
