Bodhi Guide - Seed and Strain Discussion (Part 2)

@yardgrazer Perfect, thank you very much! :v:

@CocoaCoir I have a pack of congo/kashmir x goldstar f4. I thought it would be super cool to find a male and breed it with the plain congo/kashmir. My eyes are always bigger than my stomach though. :speak_no_evil:

I haven’t done it as much in recent days, but for a little while I was perusing his IG often… from what I saw it did look like he put some work into parental selection on at least some of the crosses.

Personally it feels a little odd because I think I have packs of a number of the parents he used, and it kinda looks like he just took selections from breeder releases and made some crosses.

Still… the bundle is priced pretty reasonably given how much you get. Gives people who missed out on releases an opportunity to get in at a fairly low price point.

He’s a pheno hunter. Nothing more and nothing less. He may find something but he will always be riding the coat tails of others. Tis the nature of a pheno hunter.

Soon he’ll be releasing 20-30 Appalachia F3 crosses. You’d think i’d be more excited cuz Appy is my favorite… I am not.

Yeah, I hear you…

I don’t want to sound like I’m endorsing anyone if I were to name names, but I recall hearing a seedbank owner on a podcast that mentioned that he only carried beans from breeders who use their own fathers. In general I think there’s something to be said for that.

Has anyone grown anything out yet with the lav lemon daddy? I grew out Moms lemon cream pie last run and on this one I have the Caramel Afghani and the Congo Kashmir freebies at day 27 in my flower tent and I can see why Bodhi chose this dad. All 3 of the plants I grew had the same thick structure with beasty side branching and all 3 had a similar variation of the lemon lav terp but mixed perfectly with the mother scent. This congo I have smells like a bag of skittles and the caramel smells like a mix of tangerines and lime

That makes me nostalgic. Seems like a lifetime ago when I scroll back to “classic” episodes of that podcast and hear that seedbank owner say that. It feels surreal that he reneged on that stance, too

Name names!

Do people actually use clones of males from other breeders or? What makes a father “your own” ?

Means making your own seeds/cross whatever and finding your own male to breed with from those. Not taking a plant you found from someone else’s beans, like the kr0nick1ng dude above clearly has.

Guava hashplant is quick, well under 60 days for most phenos. That makes it great for a medical grow. Great for sinsemilla and as a breeding tool with long flowering strains. The f2s were even quicker. It’s actually difficult to get ripe seeds from some phenos because they just want to ripen quick and then hurry up and die. One was dropping seeds by day 48.

There was one pheno of the ethiopian banana x omg with a kush type structure that was done in only 53 days. It’s possible to find quick finishers even in 50/50 hybrids.

When I was growing the old black cherry soda cut in a perpetual grow, I pulled a good harvest in under 2 months like clockwork. and immediately repeat the cycle with the plants that had been vegging during that time.

I generally like to let my plants get really ripe. But keep in mind you can also harvest early for different effects and cannabinoid ratios. Some cuts used to be known for early harvest not reducing the quality.

For a couple years I’ve been running from clone for reliable meds. 3 selected phenos of bodhi’s ethiopian x omg hybrids, and Berry Larry (goji og x [Larry og x granddaddy purp]) from Ken Estes

I just experimented with an early harvest on my last grow cycle, and I was really happy with the results. There are tradeoffs, but it’s a good way to get a little variety from your usual dependable meds.

Wow, love the structure on that Congo Kashmir.

Is this from some drop a long time ago?

I’m relatively new to Bodhi seeds.

Edit: was not expecting it to be a Cookies collab.
