Bodhi Guide - Seed and Strain Discussion (Part 3)

Seeds freeze when they’re outside. It’s part of the natural process. Not saying i do it. Just saying

There’s a deep freeze apocalypse seed vault that holds millions of the world’s varieties of seeds deep into the earth incase something happens that way we have seeds to start over with. You can check it out on YouTube, I can’t remember the name off the top of my head, but it’s a genius idea!!

I asked greatlakesgenetics support to add my Bodhi Dragonade photos and they did!

Let’s go! Dragonade is finally on the map!

It’s on Svaalsbaard or one of those remote islands… but I think they’ve had problems with water intrusion. Downside of trying to store things underground on a warming planet.

True that for best seed viability freezing is only good once. Meaning you should not freeze then thaw then refreeze seeds.
Freeze then grow is less problematic.

I keep frozen beans. Just recently popped some 4 years frozen Black Raspberry F2’s. All of them came forth.

I saw it earlier ! Good stuff man

I think the bad thing about freezers is they accumulate frost and then they defrost so some of the ice melts which is bad if it gets on the seeds. The youtube channel i learned this from is called garden fundamentals.

The best way would be a humidity controlled freezer + freeze dried seeds as the starting material.

I’m trying to pop some EL Wook as well. I’m hoping for some interesting terps.

I know many of you are running Appy crosses. Since it is so hard to find out good information these days, here is Appalachia description from H&L.

"Appalachia originated out from my desire for a quick finishing, potent dual purpose plant. At the time, I was cropping Green Crack indoor and outdoor. GC was done quick enough to avoid a lot of our weather issues outside but lacked the potency I wanted. I crossed it to JJ’s Tres Dawg-(Chem D x (Chem D x (Chem D x Aghani #1) to increase potency. I was infatuated with Chemdog D at the moment, still am. :man_shrugging:

I made a limited amount of seeds. I gave them all away. Bodhi popped them and found a few plants he really liked. He hit his collection of females with a male he selected, resulting in his abundant Appalachia hybrid releases. He also made f2’s and kept a female selection. A cut of the female was unknowingly swiped from his garden and given to Ken Estes.

Granddaddy Purple Collective won 1st Place in the NorCal 2011 High Times Cannabis Cup for Sativa with bodhi’s Appalachia cut relabeled Bay 11. They released a follow up seed line. After much questioning on the icmag forums, they disclosed the seeds to be Green Crack x OG Kush. They were regs, who knows what the “OG Kush” male actually was. While they didn’t look bad, to me, they did not resemble the cup-winning cut.

Around that time, I received Appalachia f1 seeds back from a local grower friend and a large amount of f2’s from bodhi. My Appalachia f3 release used my selection of the f2 and f3 generations. The Alter Latcha seeds I gave away came from bodhi’s selection to make f2’s and my f3’ing them.

I have worked Appalachia to f5 but feel that f3 is the sweet spot. Personally, I prefer it more for the way it breeds than as a standalone plant. I have always thought that it added training wheels- it creates easier growing versions of the plants it is paired with.

There are some runt phenos that pop up in Appalachia and its hybrids. These were present in JJ’s Tres Dawg. Breeding for effect, they come along for the ride. That’s why there are always a few extras"

He also says that the taller, well branched phenos are the more potent males like the one COPA used in his Appalachia F4 crosses. It is interesting that Alter Latcha is a continuation of Bodhi’s Appy work.

I can attest to that one for sure. First time I saw Bodhis appy crosses were on a 99 plant outdoor farm, and they were incredible. At the time, outdoor chems were considered an oxy moron. Then tons of growers starting growing insane 5+ pound chems that people(including me) were going crazy for. Really some magic in that line.

I bid on the Dream Beaver but it just went too high for me.

@NWSun I had one in my cart, but I wasn’t log in, and by the time I did the log in, etc…it was gone… sounds like a nice combo of Congo pine and OMG - will be dancing around after smoking it…haha

I held off on bidding just long enough for the packs I was watching to go well beyond my final offer. I suspect some of those packs would’ve gone for less if they weren’t in with others that drew big attention.

I wanted that Tranquil Elephantizer Remix really bad but after it went past $125 I was out. It was a stellar list of Bodhi packs so I’m sure it pulled a lot of people out to bid.

All I need, gas and lemon  beautiful !

Kept checking on GLG for a different drop, and randomly Trancing Tiger was in the new arrivals. Surprisingly I managed to snag it. Is there any grow reports or flower examples of it?

I grew Terpenado outdoors last year. Beautiful plant, mine had mouth watering strawberry milk terps. Very frosty. She was also very thick and unfortunately the hurricane and a few caterpillars caused mold to set in.
