Bodhi Guide - Seed and Strain Discussion (Part 3)

What an interesting question for your first post! Welcome to OG

Your question is a bit subjective, so I’ll chime in just my 2c. DLA 5.3 is a decent choice among what is available right now. Obviously you’ve done your homework. At least you’re not leaning toward Cheech Wizard :joy: (that’s been gone for a LONG time)

The real question is what you like or want. If you want a male that increases the “bottom end” typically called Indica effects, DLA 5.3 would be nice. While all of Bodhi’s lines are fairly consistent, as they are one-to-one breedings, most of them are polyhybrids, primarily on the mother’s side. That means most of his lines hold a fair number of recessive genes that express a different phenotypes. BUT DLA 5.3 is different. The mother is inbred two generations. This will cause a number of the recessives to fall off. So the DLA 5.3 will add less weird and unexpected stuff to the mix than other Bodhi plants as the father. Its progeny will also make better parents.

The 88g13hp father is inbred and stable as a tank.

Of course, something is to be said for variety and phenotypical variation, too. If you don’t mind variation and like to find interesting and different combinations, the world is your oyster! Most of Bodhi’s plants cross well because they are well parented by a strong inbred father.

You may also be interested in more modern flavors like Sun Rider or a Lavender Lemonade cross. If you wanted something more narrow-leafed, you might want to go for a trade.

But yeah DLA 5.3 seems to be a standout for a potential heavy father plant.

Divine intervention (besides 1 runt), and Pure land hashplant got transplanted up today

First sets of leafs are looking interesting already, 1 with super jagged serrations, 1 with hardly any serrations, and a couple in between

Had a twin on the PLHP, couldn’t bring myself to kill it off even though it’s hardly grown since sprouting, so I carefully transplanted it and I’ll give it another few days or a week and if it hasn’t grown much I’ll bury the stem of the stronger seedling a bit deeper as was done with the rest of the transplants

Whoa, that’s really cool that you got a twin in one of these seeds. I recently had a couple sets of twins in some Lashkar Gah landrace. Wonder if there’s something about certain landrace genetics that could make them more likely to produce twins? (Especially when grown indoors?)

What would be your pick to breed out and pheno hunt? Is their a cross knkwn for interesting Snow Lotus characteristics that can come out in later generations?

Ive grown tons of Snow Lotus pure, as well as a buncha crosses. SL is notoriously recessive in crosses in terms of effect and flavors. Especially the males.

If I was going to pheno hunt…. I’ll think this one out.

I would choose something with modern terp and frost levels and high potency, with a very solid pedigree. Since Lavender Lemonade is ostensibly lemon tree x wookie, I would probably use one of these crosses to bring terps, a little frost, and a little sativa swing to the mix. Crossed with something different, and more to the sativa or Indica ends of the spectrum, you might be moving closer to a dog’s lunch of variety in that one line.

I’m addition, if I wanted to pheno hunt, I would smash several males of one cross against several females from seed of a different cross. This methodology so far would give you variety to pheno hunt. Several same strain makes out several same strain females, or both, will add to phenomenal hunt diversity.

The exact choices would guide the whole project in the direction you choose. I would use an Indica dominant cross, like GMO x LL or Moms Lemon Cream Pie or sun rider, and hit those up against a couple clones that I really like. Alternatively, I would hit several females from one Bodhi pack. If you want to go a more sativa range, I’d look into Pine Apple or another LL cross as the father.

To increase your success, I would select which males and females to use. I’m not too picky, as I would rather more than less, but if anything really stands out as good or bad, you may want to exclude it or exclude the others they just aren’t as good.

I would listen to what @BackyardBoogie420 has to say about snow lotus. He’s pretty much the authority on snow lotus, besides Bodhi, in my book.

If he says the recessive pop out down the line, believe it. Since snow lotus crosses are mostly all gone, F2 SL crosses might be good options for multiple phenos to breed with. But maybe you should chat with bb420.

I also second this. @BackyardBoogie420 is an incredible wealth of knowledge not just on Snow Lotus itself but Bodhi gear in general and his incredible information and knowledge has helped me and several others make decisions like you have @NL041790 .

Yes, not just SL or Bodhi, BB420 is one of those guys who has really done it and is willing to share his knowledge.

I’m partial to the Appalachia. Snow Lotus is great for the taste. The goji/berry/licorice combinations are nice. Artifact 1 is really solid. I put it through hell in DLA16. I would say that could be a really good choice. SL is more flavor and potency. 88 is potency and structure but has some sometimes undesirable negative psychological side effects. Check out this post for more males.

Would Razberry Lemonade be the best place to look for that Goji OG strawberry pheno?

I second Artifact 1 being very solid in breeding as well. Brings a really deep aroma and the extremely solid structure!

Wow, too kind @DietPeps and @Mattman ! Made my day lol

In all honesty, Ive only got 2 or 3 Lavender Lemonade packs under my belt. Im just starting to dip my toes into them. But I have grown a bit and smoked a lot of Goji from really good growers, and I cant say Ive ever experienced the strawberry side personally. LL as a dad seems to make flavors really pop though, so it is possible.

As far as best breeding males, Ive had really really good luck with Snow Lotus pure. As long as the mom is semi dominant, it just comes out like it, usually with more tolerance to heat and sometimes better structure. Ive only grown a handful from Bodhi or myself that were more 50/50 with the SL. And the only line Ive tested that was absolutely SL dominant was the auto cross the homie @Rinsewarrior13 did with it and Blue Microverse. There was a notable % that were basically little mini Lotuses, just 7 instead of 10-11 week flowering time.

Ive also had great luck in line working the Chem x Wookie crosses. My theory is theres enough similar genetics in the crosses to make everything play nice and not have a buttload of phenos in the F2s. Ive even crossed a special Neroli91 stud to various ACE sativas, and got just incredibly cool stuff in some phenos.

Goji F2’s might be a good place to search for a strawberry pheno. @AMunkFromCupertino is cooking up a fresh batch of F2’s this summer!

It’s true. Stay tuned

If you can’t wait, Copa has some interesting Goji offerings up at GLG, at the moment.

There are strawberry milk crosses. Half of goji OG.

What would be your recommendation for minimum and a good amount of Space Monkey seeds to start with if I was looking for a decent 7 week pheno?

This might be a huge ask, but I’m taking a chance that there are some cool ass people in here and I might just get lucky. I am a NYS grower for many years, my husband a legacy grower, and he is a breeder💚. I am diagnosed with Lyme disease since 2021 and I have been on the hunt since my first flair up, for the best strains out there medicinally for symptoms of Lyme Disease. I have a couple and if I would have known I would have been looking a lot sooner then this lol Bodhi seeds has a blue dream and Wookiee 15 strain, Blues for Allah!!! This is one of the main strains my husband would need to create or come close, maybe even better to an awesome strain Cresco chronic Kiwi. It is a killer strain for anyone who suffers from the daily shit we put up with having Lyme and I think it would be really fkn awesome if we are able to create a strain that might not do it all, but one that can alleviate so much pain. I would be ever so grateful to anyone on this forum if they would be willing to part with any seeds they may have that they could spare. I 100% have no problem paying to try to make this happen. I would love to have the blues for allah’s genetics. I am also open to any suggestions of anyone who has experience in the Bodhi seeds and has any other suggestions of strains that would be beneficial to someone with Lyme. I’ll do the top 5, Brain Fog!!! It blows and seriously the only thing that helped me threw that was cannabis. Joint Pain, I get it in my neck, lock jaw and they love knees. Migraines, probably due to the joint pain in my shoulder and neck lol nausea, something that is smooth and doesn’t upset your stomach. Cognitive decline, this one is why finding a strain to treat Lyme is so difficult, the strains that are great for pain and inflammation, they’re strong and they f&$k you up and anxiety is a big thing for a lot of people not just people with Lyme so a strain that isn’t crazy high in THC, a majority of Lyme patients use strains high in CBD. Thank you again for reading this far and if anyone is able to help, please let me know, contact me as a comment or can you direct message? lol I am on other verifying social platforms but I wasn’t crazy about going on any of them and posting this. Again any and all help would be so appreciated, help me find the genetics that will make the most difference in a Lyme patients quality of life. I’m determined lol

As someone who lived in Connecticut for a decade, I’d be very curious about any strains from any breeder that work well for Lyme disease.

If you manage to get any information through another channel, this forum is publicly available to those searching the internet in the future, so be sure to follow up here.

BTW, …welcome to Overgrow! :sunflower:

Thank you kindly, it’s such a cliché, Lyme and the stigma surrounding it, and we’re just now finally starting to be educated and informed of how many people are infected and suffer from tick born diseases and how these diseases affect our lives. The community is strong and since it’s not a government funded or acknowledged disease, chronically anything after 30 days of antibiotics. The road to healing and finding a cure or a vaccination is long and will continue to be difficult as long as the CDC and medical professionals everywhere continue to ignore the existence of chronic/ reoccurring Lyme Disease. It took me over 4 years to be properly diagnosed as having Lyme, even though it was documented throughout the years in my medical charts. Medicinally the Lyme community has taken it upon themselves to find natural, ways of healing, from herbs to medicinal plants, this is a huge need in the Lyme community, due to the complete lack of treatment options.

It’s up to your tastes. I’m personally looking to keep and use the best sativa leaning male or two males from my El Eook
