So I have a question regarding turning down the led light for seedlings/young plants. The light meter gives the wattage at the outlet, but the actual led output will be greater, yes?

No, the actual LED output will be less due to driver losses. But generally I just use the Kill-a-watt meter as my guide for adjusting my lights and ignore driver losses.

Thanks, I will need to pick up a meter so I can dial in the light. Is there a rule of thumb for watts to height during the various growing stages?

If you have absolutely zero idea, 18"-24" inches is a safe bet and then just watch the plants for a day or so. If the plants start seriously stretching then either lower the light or raise the wattage and watch some more. Should be able to get it down right in a day or two.

I always keep a T5 in my grow room with it’s own plants under. I use HPS primarily, but I like the weed that the T5 produces. It’s a little softer and fluffier, in a good way, though. It feels a bit more ‘virginal’, if that makes sense. I like rock hard, dense ‘nugs’ as much as the next person, but a potent, well grown, soft fluffy bud is quite nice and usually tastes a bit cleaner and feels a bit smoother, imho. It’s also easier to work with. I actually usually smoke my T5 stuff first, believe it or not.

edit: I also keep the 6000k+ bulbs to offset the narrow spectrum of the HPS lights. I like wide spectrum grows. This grow I added an LED, too (non-burple).

Up potted the 4 Purple Unicorn f5s and the 4 Black Triangles to 5x5 pots and put them in the 4x4 flower tent under the 480 watt quantum board dimmed to 200w. Checked on the Heavenly Hashplants at my buddies last night and i have 2 confirmed females and 2 undetermined. I will have pictures of everything by the end of the night.

This is the Space Monkey #2 plant. It was the shortest plant in the tent. It was also next to the largest plant in the tent which was a huge side brancher. The big plant totally dominated and invaded this plants space and bullied it into the corner. Even so, this plant still yielded descent and was the frostiest plant in the tent. It had a strong chemy cleaner type smell while flowering. But, after being in the jar a few days it has taken on a strong coffee smell that is wonderful.

Nice, coffee, intriguing for sure. Sounds like that may make a great compliment to your morning routine or breakfast.

Hi @Grohio, great job with the spacemonkey, they look so sticky!
When I grew my spacemonkeys, I found a phenotype that ends between 55 and 60 days, very diesel / chocolate / cocoa / organic solvents. Very branched, stretched plant with not very dense buds. I’m very tempted to buy a couple packs of space monkey again, if I had any chance of finding this pheno again. Have you found any such plants among your spacemonkey? I put a couple of photos of my SM chocolate phenotype

I definitely have a chocolatey coffee pheno. It was crowded into the corner by a much bigger and branchier plant. I took cuts and will probably run it again all by itself and let it spread out. So far its my favorite smelling out of the 4. Havent smoked any of it yet.

I made F2 of a similar pheno. Chocolate, chem cleaner but not an 8 or 9 weeker lol.

Pm me if you’d like some. :v:t3:

You have patience. I can never wait for bud to cure, hardly to dry. I’m always tasting the new stuff as early as possible. Obviously it gets better with proper cure but I find the flavors more powerful freshly dried. My hat goes off to you!

I’m the same way but I’m also not a heavy smoker, pretty much weekends only and that’s when I don’t have a lot going on. So that helps me enjoy my harvests in all its phases. I can sample it as soon as it’s dry enough and still have enough to see what it’s like 12 months later.

I will say after a year it only goes down hill.
