Bodhi seed's Pura Vida Preservation Run (CLOSED)

I pollinated between days 21-28. Most of the seeds are done, or at least look done to me (without ripping open the buds) because the calyxes in the middle of the buds are starting to turn golden/brown. I’ve seen this happen in nature with hemp. No big deal.

The problem to my mind is there are still greenies visible on the outside edges of the buds. I want these to ripen, and they will if given enough time. And extra time on the plant never hurts seeds. Ever. Unless they’re getting rained on and warm enough to start sprouting, but that’s outdoors.

So, I figure unless there’s a compelling reason to chop them now, why not wait and try to maximize the harvest of viable seeds? Prolly overthinking it.

If the upper buds look done you could chop the upper portion and let the lowers ripen right?

Amen brother! I concur with everything your saying about Bodhi. I hit a Bodhi 2 for 1 sale recently and got a good selection to run in the fall. I’m so glad you’re back. Your posts and your grow philosophy are something growers should aspire to. Remember that boys and girls! RESPECT🤤

Do they look ripe to you? Apologies in advance for the white balance.

#1 don’t look ready to me if you zoom, mostly clear/cloudy:

#2 is showing no ambers except maybe a couple on bud leaves:

#4 is a little more amber:

#7 looks pretty close, maybe a week?

Do you prefer yours more amber or more cloudy or freaky streaky?

Man you’re too kind. Thanks for being so generous, but don’t do it like me. I’m a lazy nube budget grower who tries too hard. Even a blind squirrel…as they say.

I kinda liked the soak down and leave town idea. Sounds like a natural cycle to let nature finish ripening up to me.

No expert here for sure, just throwing that out and enjoying learning from this thread.

You know better than us, since you’re there with the plants. Whenever I hear anybody saying they’re gonna leave their grow for ten days, though, I freak out haha.

That #2 pheno just sounds spectacular marshmallow goodness :fire: :fire_engine: hopefully the 10 day plan works well

I seriously can’t wait to grow these…awesome job

Sounds like you’re looking to let them ride a bit more. Have you ever tried blumats or any gravity drip irrigation setup for your trips away?

PS: that bean showing on #7 is looking ripe!

LOL What is freaky streaky? Sounds like something I want to strive for haha

I think you should water heavy and let them ride. This late in the game it seems they will be fine if your garden isn’t super hot and dry.

lol I left for 17d vacation a couple years ago, plants survived. Then a 15d vacation, plants flourished - see my TK x Iraqi post in the bodhi thread! I’m getting creative with the methods, but it’s reliant upon timely transplanting, overwatering and controlling evaporation. Here’s what I did with the clones a couple days ago (all 4 females rooted, but only 3 males survived):

Potted them up to 1/2gal from solo cups. Tied down so they (hopefully) don’t grow up into the lights in my mini veg space. Watered heavily the day of transplant, I’m gonna water heavily tonight with gnatrol, then water again in the morning before we leave so there’s standing water in the tub. Then  and .

I’ve seen blumats in action, and the North American distributor of them is only a few miles away, but I’ve never used them. Because I’m a renter, I’ve shied away from anything that has the potential to leak. My landlord is OK with me growing, but I bet he’d change his tune if there was water damage.

I’ve made sub-irrigated planters (SIPs) that work well - that’s how I kept stuff alive for 17d while on vacation a few years ago. They’re just heavy as fuck and hard to maneuver in a tent.

lol :free: :key: It’s my name for that weird style of trich that’s half amber on the bulbous end, with streaks of amber/purple going up the stalk. If you zoom some of those macros there are some freaky streakies. I’ll try to get better shots when I get back.

Sounds like you have everything under control with a solid plan …and prayer…lol

Most important thing is to enjoy the trip.

Yeah, I remember you saying you left for a 15 day vacation during that Iraqi grow. That freaked me out! Haha!

Congrats. All looks well @nube .
Personally, Id leave em too. Water them to point of water coming out the bottoms and leave em till ya get back. Thats what Id do anyways. When fully mature they shouldnt use as much water at the end of the cycle either (temps/humidity will also dictate water usage.).
Should be seeing the calyxes splitting apart right soon to reveal mature seeds. If calyxes are not splitting yet, seeds may need a bit more time yet.
Just a guess on my part.
Good luck
P.S. Ive heard great things about the LA Pure Kush.
Ive heard Kevin Jodrey discuss the PK, and sing its praises. LA PK is sposed to be a tasty little fucker to smoke.
The Appalachian male Ive had before in Bohdi’s Mothers Milk. It has some great traits in it also.
Hopefully this is a winner. It has winner written all over already, but wont know till peeps start crackn some seeds and digging in.

Sorry to jump your thread @nube but I want to share a quick story about you that I find remarkable. At least 2 years ago if memory serves, @nube sent me some beans. Among them were some Gorilla Glue#4/Sakura. I was digging in the vault and they caught my eye. Well I put 6 of them in a paper towel sandwich. Every single one popped in 24 hours and they are now up and growing. I don’t know what it means but I found it remarkable.

Yeah man, thanks for thinking of me. Just got home tonight from our roadtrip. Had to come back early due to heavy smoke from all the fires. We live about 30mi from some serious fires, but the smoke up north was so thick it made it impossible to hike and you couldn’t see anything even if you did. Them hills in the distance are half a mile away and you can’t hardly see them.

We had a good time tho, despite the smoke. Got out on a remote lake.

Got hailed on, but thankfully didn’t hurt the car.

Went to Yellowstone and saw the sights despite Covid.

Got to see some buffalo again.

Had a real nice birthday dinner. Filet, lobster tail, grilled shrimp, potatoes, homebrew Malbec wine that was pretty dang good.

Got to play fetch and watch the lightning off a rustic happy hour deck.

And even made it to a nice waterfall up an undisclosed trail.

Despite leaving early, it was a great time and we’re thankful to have gone.

Yessir, that all worked out fine. I’ll post a grow update here in a bit, but you hit the nail on the head and I like testing those types of hypothesis.

Thanks man, one for the Pay It Forward scrapbook. Hope you get lotsa females and they bring many happy harvests. They’re (GG4 x Longbottomleaf) x Sakura. The female was from some Bad Dawg freebies included with a GLG purchase, and the male was from my Sakura testers - same guy I used to make F2.
