And the chunky male seems to be a hermie male, bunch of pistils popping out… i knew he looked a bit sus… gonna remove him… only saw one little flower that had open, so the damage is minimal…

Hermies aren’t used in the co-op seed runs.

Male is dumping like crazy…

How long do yall think i should leave him in there?

With all that pollen I’d say not much longer, that fan should help.

On a dedicated seed run i let them go a while and collect and freeze pollen. Saves effort later for males later on.

Excellent thread. Keeping an eye on this grow. Looks very promising.

i let them go until I see no more white hairs or like 10% at most in nature no one takes the male away the female just stops accepting him

Keep the male in there untill day 30 letting the girls mature. Then pull the males and clean up.
Clean well so there no more pollen that might make seed from this point on.
It’s not like I do this that often but thats my SOP.
40 days minimum after the males go

I’ve done this freezen pollen thing but for a year of storage and the polen get a little wet in this meanwhile… Let’s see if it worked… I’m praying for it worked!

Make sure its dry. Then double seal and maybe add dessicants or rice. Then thaw to roon temp before opening. Thats all i know.

It’s been really interesting to be able to follow this closely, congratulations on your work, BigL. You inspire us, thank you for everything you’re doing, thanks brother!

My luck preserving pollen has been pretty dismal. (W/ Freezer and dessicant and sealed container )

I think they just don’t have hardened outer layers meant to last like seeds. I have always understood any moisture basically deactivates pollen as well.

I’ve seen folks who have luck storing pollen in flour. ?

I have used ‘toasted’ flour (250F, 20 min) at a ratio of 5:1 (flower:pollen). I still have some in the freezer for long term testing.
Packaging is probably the most important for long term storage. Most types of plastic films and bags have micro holes that will allow moisture in. I went with the vacuum freezer bags (the heat sealable types).

Cheers
