Bodhi Soar, Uplift and Purple NL2; GPS Stardawg f2; Rare Dankness Midas and Ghost of Lee Roy

Alright, just watered and took these pics a little bit ago, day 54 of flower. These’ll be the last pics until I start chopping. As each plant comes down, I’ll take some photos. I expect that to be happening in the next two to three-and-a-half weeks, depending on the plant.

Here’s the Purple NL2 #2:

And here’s a horrible non-flash pic of the PNL2:

I cannot get decent pics without using the flash. That’s the best one out of about ten I took without the flash. Anyway, she smells really, really fucking good. I’m still getting grape bubblegum smells off of her, coupled with something else that I can’t put my finger on yet. @HolyAngel mentioned his have a little incense thing going on; that maybe might be what I’m smelling, but there’s even something more. I’ll figure it out by the time I get to the smoke report haha. She smells amazing, though. I thought she’d be coming down right at day 63, but a couple days ago she threw out a bunch of white pistils, so I’m thinking more like day 70 now. We’ll see.

Here’s the Uplift #1:

And the Uplift #2:

Uplift #3:

I’m fairly certain the #3 is a big-time HA leaner. You can see in the full plant shot how spindly she is, with the wide-ass internodes. The #2’s like that, as well. The buds on the #3 are also really, really small. And I don’t think they’re gonna do that late swell that a lot of plants do. Having said that, I love her. She’s putting out some powerful energy and I can tell she’s gonna be some strong smoke.

Maybe.

Haha!!! Hopefully!

And here’s the Uplift #4:

All of the Uplifts’ smells have been developing nicely. For a while they were just smelling kind of sugary-sweet, but I’ve started noticing hints of aftershave and berries, along with the sweet. They all smell really good for sure/

Here’s the Stardawg f2 #3:

She’s definitely really frosty, these pictures aren’t doing her justice at all. I’m impressed. The smells on her are pretty muted, though. I couldn’t tell you what she smells like right now, to be honest. I think she was the fourth or fifth plant I watered tonight and I gave a couple nugs a squeeze. Couldn’t smell shit. Ordinarily, I’d chalk that up to having been dealing with a few plants before I got to her, but the Midas was the last plant I flowered tonight and she fucking REEKS.

Midas #2:

She smells pretty weird. It isn’t the most delicious smell, but it’s the kind of smell you notice and think,“I bet she’s gonna taste really good…” You know how a lot of those gnarly-smelling plants end up tasting delicious? That’s the vibe I’m getting from her. It’s kind of lemon/body odor, but something else that’s familiar that I can’t place. It’s kind of acrid, maybe cat piss, but not exactly. Anyway, like the others, I’ll figure it out by the time I get to the smoke report.

Soooo, yeah. Getting close to the chop now for sure. Starting to get excited…

That Midas is looking especially killer.

Yeah, she has buds fucking all over the place. They’re definitely gonna be pretty airy, so I dunno where the actual yields will end up, but I’ll be filling up a lot of jars for sure. This is the second “Sativa” of Rare Dankess’ that I’ve grown (the first was the Moonshine Haze) and both have been pretty impressive. I grew their Starkiller (one of their “Kushes”) last run and it kind of sucked, but both of their hybrids that utilized their Neville’s Haze/Trainwreck dad have been pretty great. If she smokes as good as the Moonshine, I’ll be happy.

That’s absolutely mouth watering🤤

I think all your pics are great! Everything looking stellar… I like the looks of the Midas (wow!) and Uplifts for sure.

It’s hard to get good pics without flash unless you have really bright lighting and short shutter speed, or you have everything static on a tripod and can increase exposure time little bit.

Yeah, the Midas is impressing me more and more every day. She’s really starting to swell now, got these big pyramid-shaped nugs on all of the tops. I had to stake and tie her two days after I took those pics. I’m having a difficult time placing her smells. It’s kind of gnarly and not too pleasant, but it does have some kind of tropical thing going on as well.

I’m gonna check that out on my camera. I haven’t messed with it too much, just because I get really frustrated really easily with technology haha. But I spoke too soon re: that macro lens attachment for phone cameras. I can’t get decent pics of the trichomes with either my phone or my girl’s phone. Definitely looking forward to getting a new camera with macro capabilities, I’m getting pretty sick of guessing when my plants are finished. It usually isn’t a big deal (and it’s still not THAT big of a deal), but that Stardawg does look done. It’d be nice to know for sure. I’m probably gonna chop her in two days, though.

Damn sorry you’re having trouble with the iPhone camera attachment… I just clip mine on and get as close as I can to the buds and start snapping. But I have an old iPhone 6, so maybe there is something different with the cameras on the newer models? Have you tried a USB scope that you attach to your computer/laptop? I have one that I don’t use anymore that I’ll be happy to send ya… but I find its even harder to get good pics of the trichs, you really gotta have a steady hand. It magnifies more, but also magnifies any movement by your hand too! Plus you gotta have it connected to your computer, so you have to drag your laptop to your plants.

I’m pretty much like you though, I like to scope to double check things, but usually I can tell just by looking at the plants when they are close to being done… they seem to get certain sheen on the buds.

Man I keep meaning to reply to this post and keep getting distracted with stuff

Everything’s lookin great as usual! Hope chop comes up quick for ya ^^

Please say you took clones of that Midas :joy: Otherwise I’m assuming you have more seeds of it

That Stardawg came out looking dank af! Almost looks better than the Midas, but if no terps, that really sucks :disappointed: Wouldn’t expect a lack of terps on F2’s… Fem’s or S1’s maybe… but not F2’s

I think it’d work if I could hold my phone steady. But I can’t, so it doesn’t haha. I may ask my girl to try and get some pics tonight with my phone. Her hands are definitely steadier than mine…

@HolyAngel I didn’t take clones of the Midas, but I do have seven seeds left. I was looking around last night to see who had packs available, thinking I may buy another pack, just to be safe. I need to smoke her first! The high is supposed to be really “happy,” which I love, but I wanna make sure that’s an accurate description before I start buying more seeds. Really trying to reign in the seed-buying habit, it got way out of control this past year.

Just got done watering, day 66, and wanted to make a few quick observations before I forget.

One: the Midas smells exactly like Juicy Fruit gum. When I squeezed a few nugs and smelled my fingers (insert dumb joke here), I didn’t even have to pause to consider it. It was immediately apparent what I was smelling. When I was a kid, I loved that gum. I’d eat an entire pack in like six minutes. Sometimes I’d chew a piece for a minute, swallow it, eat another piece etc until the whole pack was gone. Sometimes I’d eat a piece, then add another piece. And another and another until I was chewing the entire pack (yes, even the Plen-T packs, with seventeen sticks of gum). I fucking loved the way that gum tasted.

So that’s cool. I really hope it maintains that smell (and flavor maybe?) throughout the drying and curing process. I wonder if I chopped it now, which is probably about nine or ten days too early, if it’d keep that smell.

Anyway… And two: all of the Uplifts now have a totally stereotypical “dispensary OG” smell going on. Which is different from what I consider a “classic OG smell.” Classic OG (and I’ve said this a thousand times) smells floral/perfume-y to me. “Dispensary OG” is a lot different. I can’t describe the smell, but I know it when I smell it. If it maintains that smell by the time I get to smoking it, I’ll figure it out and describe it better. It’s not a “bad” smell at all. In fact, it smells really good to me. But it’s different.

Also, the Uplift #4 has something else going on that’s very familiar to me. Just to be certain, after I took a whiff, I went out to the living room and put my fingers under my girl’s nose and asked,”What does this smell like to you?” She instantly said,”Chocolate chip cookies.” And she’s exactly right. There’s a definite “chocolate/coco” thing going on. My Gojis from a couple grows ago had the same thing happening in the last few weeks before chop. I dunno if that’s coming from the Snow Lotus dad, my soil mix or some combination of the two, but it smells really, really fucking good.

The Gojis lost that in the drying and curing process and I expect the same thing to happen with that Uplift. But I won’t be mad if it stays around haha.

Anyway, yeah, just a few notes. The Stardawg f2 still doesn’t smell like anything, though haha!!

You have a very trusting lady!! My wife would probably punch me if I stuck my fingers under her nose!!

Could you cut one branch on the Midas early? See if it retains the Juicy Fruit gum smell. Always loved that gum, but damn the flavor ran out quick!

LOL I’d get the same treatment from mine.

She’s pretty used to me walking out of the grow room and demanding to know what my fingers smell like haha!

I mean, I could, but I’d rather not. I’ll just wait her out and see where she ends up. Her flowers are actually starting to get pretty dense, I thought they’d turn out relatively airy, like the Moonshine I grew last round. I’d rather have her finish up properly, even if that means the smells (and presumptively the flavors, too) changing.

I decided to chop the Stardawg f2 #2 today, day 71-ish of flower. I thought I got a bunch of good non-flash pics (they looked good through the camera screen thing), so I chopped her after taking the photos. Then I looked at the pics on the computer and was like,“Aaarrggghhh…” Probably wasn’t the best idea to take pics right after I worked out, when I was feeling extra-shaky, but I really wanted to get her hanging and drying asap. Anyway, here are the best pics I got:

She’s pretty dang frosty, but I swear, she still doesn’t smell like anything. The only thing I can pick up on is, like, the ever-so-slightest note of burnt rubber. But I mean, I really, really have to stick my nose in there and search. It’s so fucking weird. And a little disappointing.

Maybe some nice smells will develop during the drying and curing process. It’s been known to happen…

So, yeah, first plant is down. I’m probably gonna start chopping the Uplifts on Monday. Maybe sooner, maybe a little later. A couple of them, the lower branches have started flopping in the last week or so, which means the nugs are still putting on some weight (at least, I think that’s what that would indicate), so I’m gonna let those go for just a couple more days. And one of them, can’t remember which one offhand, still has a decent amount of white pistils. Nothing crazy, I could probably chop it the same time as the other Uplifts. But the Midas still has a week to go at least; the Purple NL2 does, as well. I might as well let that one Uplift go as long as those other plants need to. Can’t believe how long it’s taking for the PNL2 to finish up. I thought she’d be a nine-weeker for sure. The way things look right now, I’m thinking she’ll be the last to finish, even after the Midas. Crazy…

Why not just reveg the Midas?

Sadness on the lack of terps
Hope she’s still some good smoke for ya, definitely not the keeper though with no smells…
Gonna have to pop some more beans ^^
