I dunno, I didn’t even think about that. I’ve still got ten seeds left (I was wrong when I said I had seven seeds left, @HolyAngel, I forgot I only planted two seeds this round). And if I re-veg, that’ll mean I’m dealing with growing in between chopping these plants and starting my May 1 grow. I’ve been growing pretty nonstop for a while now, kinda want a little week or so break. Once I start my May 1 grow, it’ll be nonstop again for the foreseeable future. A break sounds good. As much as I love growing, I do sometimes get annoyed with having to deal with something grow-related every single day and night.
Oh yeah, for sure. Like I said, May 1. It’s not gonna be another Stardawg run, though. I’ve already decided on 5x Doc D’s Mexican Death Sativa, Lucky Dog’s Chem Fuego and Bodhi’s Black Triangle. That’ll leave me with three spots left. Trying to decide what three seeds those’ll be.
Btw, does anybody know who D’Souza is? Every time I type “Doc D’s” it autocorrects to D’Souza. Who the fuck is that?
Reveg is more like stick it under lower light and wait 4-6 weeks. Doesn’t need much of anything just keep it moist and under 18/6 or more.
oooh thats gonna be a dank lineup! Would expect some nice yields from all of those!
I do need to pop me some black triangles Really thinking I might do some of the Pura Vida’s next after reading those smoke reports.
I’m sure you’ll think of something great for those last 3 spots. Feel like the mdsxhb and the chemfuego could both end up being kinda similar… or wildly different The BT should be like a guaranteed night time medicine… maybe do something fruity or exotic for the last 3 spots?
@vernal Yeah, I know that re-vegging wouldn’t be much work, but it’s still something I have to think about. And, like you said, I’ll have to water it and the light will be turning on… I just wanna shut it down for a week or so. It’s good to give the fans and the lights and everything a rest.
I think the MDS and the Fuego will be super-different, in both flavors and effects. The Chem Fuego’s supposed to only take seven weeks, so I’m expecting a heavier high (although I also expect it to have that sort of initial crushing, rushy Chem thing, too). I think I can deal with that Chem rush now. I haven’t had a panic attack in a few months, I think. Seems like it’s been a few months, anyway. As long as I’m not having them, I can smoke whatever.
And the MDS cross (Doc D is calling that one Magic Melon, I think) is supposedly finishing up in ten weeks or less. Doc said it’s got a “melon” flavor going on, which is about as different as you can get from what I think the Fuego’s gonna taste like. The high is supposed to be super-good time party herb, which is my favorite kind of weed. That’s why I started growing (or one of the reasons, anyway), was to find weed that makes me feel like I did when I started smoking, way back in the day. I have high hopes for that cross. And if I don’t find what I’m looking for in those five seeds, I’ve still got three packs, minus those five haha. I’m definitely gonna be taking a lot of clones this round, for sure.
Edit: sorry, Doc’s calling it Mexican Melon, not Magic Melon.
Ah gotcha! I haven’t really looked into the particulars on docs gear, just been reading the mailing lists and here. I figured with the headbanger it might lean towards that kinda high, but it sounds like the mds may be dominant then. That’s awesome! That kinda high is why I’ve been stuck on this NL5HSS #5.
I hope you find what you’re looking for in this first round!
I chopped the Uplift #3 this morning, day 75 of flower. Before I did, I took a picture of all four Uplifts, just so we have an idea of the different phenotypes I got. Here they are, #1, #2, #3, #4, from left to right:
The #1 and the #4 I think are the best sort of “hybrid” plants. Maybe the #2, as well, although I think it’s leaning pretty hard to the HAOG-side of things. Still, she’s gonna yield better than the #3. The #2 is also insanely sticky. They’re all sticky, but the #2, after I give some of her nugs a squeeze, my fingers are just coated with stickiness, they get all tacky and hard to pull apart…
The #3 is just a straight-up Hell’s Angel OG, I think. Having never grown Hell’s Angel OG, I can’t say for certain, but man, she is just lanky, horrible internode spacing, really small flowers. I dig her, though. I think she’s gonna smoke really good. However, if I get even an ounce off of her, I’ll be shocked. Really, really bad yields for sure.
Here’s a picture of one of her tops, just so you can get an idea of how small her flowers are:
And another with a lighter for reference:
That’s a fucking top! All I can think about when I look at her is,“Jesus, after these nugs dry, they’re gonna be like a third of the size they are now…” haha! Pitiful…
And here’s a shitload of random pictures I took right before I chopped her. They came out pretty good, which surprised me. I haven’t been drinking lately, but I did drink pretty heavily Saturday afternoon/evening and allllllll fucking day yesterday. Woke up this morning feeling pretty shaky but still managed to get some pretty good pics of the #3:
For the most part, all of the Uplifts have had a very noticeable kind of “forest floor” smell. That dank, moist, humid thing. There’s been some fermented berry-type smells, aftershave/cologne and fuel notes here and there, too. But when I chopped the #3 and was taking her into the grow room bathroom to hang, I noticed a very prominent “pine” smell happening, too. First time I’ve picked up on that. I hope it maintains that pine element throughout drying and curing. I dig that. Makes me think of the first “kind bud” I ever smoked, like 30 years ago.
Anyway, so yeah, the Uplift #3 is chopped and drying. The other three Uplifts will be getting chopped in two days. I probably could have chopped them today, but figured, you know, fuck it, let’s let them go another couple days. The Midas looks allllllllmost ready to chop. And the purple NL2 looks like she has a week to go, at least. I’m not gonna let her go that long, though. I think once I chop the other Uplifts, I’m gonna turn off the lights and let the Midas and the PNL2 sit in the dark for a couple days and then chop them. I dunno why, exactly, except I’m ready for this grow to be done. I’m sick of waiting on that Purple NL2 haha.
I totally see why you are so fond of her. A real beauty @minitiger. RESPECT!
Blessings…
Thanks, dude! Her flowers are definitely pretty, I’ll give her that. But goddaman they’re small! Haha. Seriously, though, the trichome production on all four of the Uplifts is pretty dang impressive. They’ve all got that “fuzzy” look to them, with just clusters of raised trich stalks everywhere.
I think these are worth a grow or three for sure. Kinda wish I’d have taken clones of them (as usual). Or if not all of them, the #2 at least. That one is my very favorite, even though the #1 and the #4 are gonna yield better. It’s just crazy how sticky she is.
Probably got more than a few fungus gnats in those buds haha. That’s how sticky she is. “Fungus gnat trap-sticky.” Let’s make that a thing haha.
Yeah… if the #2 is that frosty… may be worth trying to clone a bud or two
I’ve had good luck doing that, it just takes like a month or so to root and then another month or so to reveg… That’s how I kept that FLC #1 around ^^.
Think the 4th one is my favorite when it comes to structure… but they all have pretty bad structure
Those flowers look damn good tho! Excited to see what the midas and your pnl2 turn out like!
Nah. Why bother with that effort? Haha. Seriously, I’ve yet to do a grow where there weren’t at least a few “keepers.” Every round, I find something that’s excellent. I think as long as I keep buying seeds from reputable breeders, I don’t have anything to worry about. There’s always something real good, every grow.
Having said that, I will definitely be taking clones from the Black Triangles and the Mexican Melons (Death Sativa x Dragon Energy) next grow. I feel like those two might have something extra-extra-special in them. And I’ll do the same with the Bandaid Haze grow next fall, too.
yeah those are some mini-buds, esp that #3, haha! Pics look good though! I’m sure the smoke is good.
Haha like a Venus fly-trap or sundew Have you ever “washed” your buds? Like, the whole dip the buds in buckets of water thing?
You can always try re-vegging by just throwing em outside or whatever and giving more food.
Always good to practice your clone game… if you end with something really special, it’s worth not worrying over the original plant making it through re-vegging. I know it sucks giving up the space to keep clones, but I do find it nice to be able to pull something out of the “library” and grow it at anytime. I find it fun to experiment with growing the same plant over and over again too. But each to their own…
I love how all of y’all are like,”Haha! Look at those tiny buds! Maybe you should try to reveg her…” Why? Her yields suck haha! Ain’t no point keeping her around, unless it’s the greatest smoke ever. But by the time I try her out, she’ll be long gone.
Anyway, I’m just fucking with y’all. I always appreciate everybody’s input. It’s really only the #2 I wish I took clones of.
No, although I’ve seen a lot of people talking about that lately. I’m not sure I understand the concept. Or, I mean, I understand the concept, but I don’t get why people do that. I guess if I was growing outside, I might wanna do that, just because it’s fucking dry and dusty here. But my grow space is pretty clean. I don’t think my buds need washing, anyway.
Yeah, I totally get that. I’m weird, though, when it comes to weed. I mean, I drink the same beer all the time (Sierra Nevada Pale Ale) and never get sick of it. But with weed, I like to have a ton of variety. That Headbanger from last run was the only weed I could see myself smoking every day, for months. That’s pretty much what I’ve been doing since I harvested those plants. But even then, I’ve been glad to have had the Moonshine Haze and the other stuff around. I’ve even been blazing that Time Bandit from two runs ago before bed lately. And even every now and then, smoking some of the Golden Triangle/GHash from last year.
Just a quick note: the Stardawg f2 #2 dried out a little too quickly. I did the “branch snap” test a little bit ago and some of the branches snapped way too easily, so I decided to break her down into smaller pieces and put her in a paper bag. Five days after chopping, which is fine, I guess. I’d prefer a longer hang/dry, but considering she was the only plant hanging, five days isn’t surprising.
Anyway, what I wanted to make a note of was how delicious she smelled. Very, very spicy, but not like a “Haze”-type spice. More like a “wintertime spice smell” (is that a thing?). Kind of like cloves and nutmeg and “wintergreen” and maybe “midnight mass” smells? I dunno, but she smells really good.
When I was taking her apart, though, I noticed that there was just a shit-ton of larf. Very few “real” flowers. Still, I’m not mad. That smell… Fucking delicious. Can’t wait to blaze it.
Chopped the other three Uplifts a couple hours ago. It’s really overcast today, so I wasn’t able to get many good non-flash pictures, but here are the pictures I did get:
Uplift #1
And the Uplift #2:
Uplift #4:
So there’s a shitload of pics.
The Uplift #4 is gonna yield the best of the four, no doubt about that. Having never grown straight Snow Lotus, I can’t say for certain how much of a “hybrid” between that and the Hell’s Angel she really is, but she does seem to be a fairly even blend of the two. Definitely not getting any sort of “100% HAOG” vibes from her like I do the #3.
I took all three of the Uplifts out of the tent as soon as the lights turned on last night and set them on the dining room table, but I didn’t get around to chopping them until late this morning. Just in that short time frame, they all kind of got saggy and gnarly-looking. Especially the #1, I dunno if you can see that in the pics or not. One thing I noticed about all of the Uplifts was that they drank a lot of water. Their pots always felt lighter than the others when I’d take them out of the tent every other day. And since I was planning on chopping them today, I didn’t water them last night. Seems like they really took it hard haha.
I dunno if that means anything. Just an observation, really. Uplift plants drink a lot of water.
So, yeah, all four Uplifts are hanging now. The Midas is still chugging along, I’m not sure when I’m gonna chop her yet. Soon, though. And I already mentioned this in holyangel’s thread, but that fucking Purple NL2… Goddamn… It will not finish. I took an extra-close good look at her last night when I was watering and she still has a lot of white/light green pistils. And not just on the top of the plant or the bottom; they’re everywhere. I really want to finish her up properly, just so we have a decent idea of her potential, but Jesus, she’s taking her sweet-ass time for sure. I’m thinking day 80 and that’s it. I don’t care. That’s three days from now. Just turn off the lights and force her to finish up…
I did decrease the light from 11:15/12:45 to 11/13 last night, but I don’t think just a couple days of that will make her go,“Oh, shit! Time to finish up!”
Anyway, yeah. Uplifts are drying, the Midas and the PNL2 are still growing…
Shiiiiit, I almost forgot!
He is a good boy. A good boy! haha. For real, though, I don’t think I’ve ever loved anything as much as I love Bowie…
Probably not, if you’re indoor for sure. Just wondering if it changes the bud it some way… I always find damn dog hairs on my buds, probably coming from my clothes or whatever, cause I have filters on my intakes. I mean I’ve probably smoked worse things than dog hair, but still…
That has PU in it right? My Purple Wookie wanted to take forever too, wanted to go longer than I took her at. It has RKU, which I believe it related to PU. Definitely seems to be a trend with that PU.
Uplifts look damn good, I like the look of the #4. Big Chunky buds… hope they smoke as good as they look!
You may have already said this in your thread, but I’m being lazy… what’s your drying environment like? I found if you can stretch the drying time to like 10-14 days the buds come out better, just in my experience.
Your boxers are awesome… I f’n love dogs! He digs the Uplift
Yeah, it might. I dunno. I feel like everybody’s just always trying to “enhance” or whatever that which does not need enhancing. It makes me think of that Denis Leary bit about crack, where he’s like,”Only in America would there be a guy who cocaine wasn’t good enough for.” haha. Seriously, the weed I grow is pretty dang awesome. I don’t think I need to “make it better,” ya know?
But maybe I do haha. Maybe I’m missing out on some kind of spectacular experience that only people who wash their buds know about…
Sorry, man, I’m really not directing this at you, @iamyou_youareme. It’s cloudy today. I always get in a really bitchy mood when it’s not 74 degrees and nothing but blue skies.
Yeah, there was an extremely noticeable dog hair sitting right on the end of a flower in one of the pictures I took. I thought I posted it here, but I’m not seeing it. I definitely noticed it when I was labeling the pics, though. Big ol’ dog hair right there. But you’re right, I’ve definitely smoked nastier shit than dog hairs before… I’m not worried about it, anyway.
Last harvest, I must have accidentally dropped that Moonshine Haze on the floor when I chopped her or something. I don’t remember doing that, but when I started trimming and jarring her, there was just a MASSIVE clump of dog hair on one nug. Super-gnarly. I even said to my girl,”Did I drop this plant into a pile of dog hair?!? Where did this come from???” haha.
Bowie, that dog in the pics, has unusually long and soft hair for a boxer. It gets everywhere.
Yeah, apparently that Purple Unicorn takes a while to finish. I thought I had researched it, just because I was planting the Purple Northern Lights seeds, but I guess I didn’t. Or I don’t remember anything about it taking a long time to finish, anyway. Especially with the NL2 in it, I thought it wouldn’t take this long. The Big Sur Nigerian x NL2 that I grew a couple years ago was done right at 70 days. I figured the PNL2 would take only nine weeks at the most. But I guess not.
I’m really kind of at the mercy of the elements here. I hang everything in the shower in the bathroom in the grow room. So far, humidity levels have been between 48 and 68%. Temps have been between 67 and 77. But yeah, I try to dry for as long as I can. I’ve got a humidifier in there right now and can always add another one (or two or three of four) if I need to, but it hasn’t been necessary yet. Usually I try to keep the humidity right at fifty percent for three days and then slowly increase to 65% over the course of the next ten days. Sometimes I manage to work that out, sometimes I don’t. We get really, really dry weather here a lot of the time. And this month, April, we’ve been getting a lot of weird heat waves, too. So it’s kind of been a struggle.
That Stardawg had to get put in a paper bag after only five days, but she was the only plant drying at the time. Having all four of those Uplifts drying in there at the same time, that should drag out the drying process some. I hope it does, anyway. Two weeks is what I always shoot for.
You have no idea. Bowie, the dog in those pics, is just the coolest, happiest, most laid-back dog ever. I strive to be like him haha. He’s just happy to be here, cool with whatever.
