Bodhi Soulmate f2 grow & f3 / S1 making

Nice. I knew there was a good reason I wanted to get a mini-fridge for the grow room, even if I didn’t know what it was just yet.

Ugghhhh… I know, right? I wish I knew some other growers, like, in-person. That’s the worst, when you roll a j for your friends, all like,”This is Doc D’s Mexican Melon, a cross of Jim Ortega’s legendary Mexican Death Sativa and and Doc’s Dragon Energy male. Pretty rare stuff!” and they’re like,”Wut?” haha. Hate it.

Wasting electricity, yeah, I get that. Good point. Creating heat, though… I’ve been vegging the new starts outside, for the most part, but I’ll move them into the 3x3 once the sun starts to set, underneath the Apache AT200 and that shit just does NOT get hot. It’s crazy. However hot or cool it is in the grow room is how hot the tent gets. That Apache just does not produce any heat. The AT600 does, but the 200 doesn’t at all. Awesome light, for sure.

I’m very aware of people’s reactions when I’m talking to them about cannabis now haha.
I talked my brothers ears off for an hour about the lineage of Soul Mate, he didn’t care much by the end lol.
I just find it fascinating to be able to know, and trace back the parentage of plants. Especially for me here in UK.
Until I started growing, the only weed I could get was “some nice skunk” or “cheese”.

Hey dude, its all good man.
Hope you can figure out the new technology, I hate having to figure out a new phone or laptop haha.

And no disrespect to the UK Cheese, was more a comment on what dealers always claim to have, and most never actually do.
Best Cheese I ever smoked was at a house parry in London a few years ago, got it from this guy that was in the BBC series Top Boy, forgot his name now, infact I forget most of what happened that night hahaa   .

So yesterday I decided to make some powdered soap from the Conckers (horse chestnuts) That I collected last week.
I started by roasting them, on a very low temp, not so much roasting, as just drying them out.
Cracked all the shells off and separated the nuts from the shell.
I then ground the shells with a pestle and mortar until they looked this.

There are still a few slightly bigger chunks in here, but you get the idea.

So last night I put on a compost tea to brew.
1 cup of Dale Foot compost (made of sheep’s wool and bracken), a tablespoon of molasses, teaspoon of dried seaweed and then half a teaspoon of the Concker soap powder… at just half a teaspoon
I slightly over did it lol. This stuff is insanely frothy.

This afternoon, I’ve watered in the compost tea brew, and all the Soul Mates look to be taking well to the 10 gal pots.
The one at the back, (#3) hasn’t responded too well to being topped, and has started to Bush out from the bottom up lol.

Meanwhile in the flowering cupboard…

I’ve also started a spray regiment of colloidal silver on one of the females in the flowering cupboard, spraying the top 4 bud sites, and leaving the bottom 4 unsprayed. Hoping be able to pollinate the lower bud sites with the pollen from the top bud sites.

The Soul Mate Male is starting to put out a few pollen sacks now as well, and looks to be forming its first proper stacks if flowers at the top.

Bro your UK and grow reg seeds?? You only growing for personal use?? I’ve not had that much luck with regs to be honest. I either get a lot of males or if I do get a female they throw balls mid flower. Daft as it may sound to everyone but personally FEMS for the win :+1:
Looking good anyway. I’ll have a proper look through your thread when I get a minute.

Haha yeh, I’ve grown a few varieties that were fems, Strawberry Cough from Dutch passion, Holy Smokes Strawberry Diesel and Dina Fems Purple Orange CBD. Most of the fems I’ve ever had have been attitude freebies though.

Majority of my grows have been Bodhi’s gear, I honestly haven’t bothered much with any other breeders since growing my first Bodhi pack.

And yeh, it’s all for personal, mainly for my Fiancé, I don’t smoke that much nowadays. So as long as I can get enough to see us through, that’s all I’m bothered about. Means I don’t have to deal with shady sellers and their crap weed too lol.

A few drops of fish hydrolysate (not fish emulsion), or vegetable oil (not canola or olive) will usually calm that foam down. The foam doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a good brew, but it apparently holds a lot of the nutrients, so don’t chuck it… unless it’s on the plants!

I didn’t know that about the fish hydro. I added some saponins to some Neptune’s fish hydro water I mixed up and was wondering why it wouldn’t foam up on me.

If a tea doesn’t foam, it doesn’t mean it’s a “bad” tea. My teas foam sometimes (although nothing like in that pic haha), but I don’t worry about whether or not they do.

Re: the fish hydrolysate thing: if you read that link I posted a while back, microbeorganics.com, it was observed that the fish would initially slow down microbe division or production or whatever, which required teas to be brewed for a little longer than you ordinarily would. So just keep that in mind. I’m not sure I’ve ever heard about it decreasing the foam, although I do remember that back when I’d add stuff other than just compost and molasses, like a little TM7 and fish and stuff, I noticed that adding (or not adding) certain things would increase or decrease the foam. Can’t remember now what those things were, though. Sorry haha.

Gah! Like jail sucks. I like this though  haha

Just for the record, I hadn’t intended for it to foam that much lol.
Next time I’ll just be adding a pinch.
I still used this of course, and plants have responded really well to the brew.

A quick shot of the Soul Mate male that I’ll be collecting pollen from.
It’s got really nice symmetrical branching anr I’m quite happy with the node spacing.
It has a hint of the Soul Mate/ Lavender to it on a stem rub near the top, stem rub from near the bottom gives a slightly different sweet smell at the moment.

And here is the Soul Mate f2 female that I’m spraying with colloidal silver, twice a day, wich isn’t too bad as I have the time to do it before work and then after.

Provided this goes well, and I see result with the female pollen sacs, I’ll probably take clones of the #2 Soul Mate and spray one, then use the other for seed making too.

All 3 of the Soul Mate f2s in veg are really starting to pick up pace now, after topping I’ve been bending the top two mains to allow for there to be 4 main tops on each.
#3 is still slightly behind the others.
All have just been given plain water for last two waterings now. Its still slightly weird to me not having to ph the water lol.

Plan for next week is to top dress with some more compost, add some extras like charge, kelp, malted barley etc.
And then add a small mount of cover crop and barley starw as a mulch. I’ll probably be looking to flip these into flower in about 2 weeks time.

I’ve had quite a surprise this week, while checking in on the flowering Soul Mate f2 male, it’s started to put out some pistils!

Did a bit of searching online and mainly found best info on OG (obviously), and some info from old bodhi IG posts.

First flower that opened this morning however and has zero pollen, so I’m guessing this is going to be the case for all of the flowers, I’ll leave it for another few days and see if it produces any pollen at all, and if not, I’ll probably chop it :disappointed_relieved::frowning:

Shame as I was looking forward to testing the theory of these males with pistils making higher fem ratios in the offspring, and even ensuring against fem plants producing hermaphrodite traits.

So now I’m at a point where I’m wondering I should pop some more of the f2s, and look for another male as I’d really wanted to make some f3s this time around.

I do still have the s1s project that I’m working on, been spraying one of the females twice a day for over a week now, so hopefully will see some pollen there soon.

And finally in the veg tent, I built some basic bamboo supports, still need to adjust the heights properly.

Today I’ve done some repotting on the the S.A.D CBD, C99 x Mendo Breath and the two mystery seeds.
I’ve also covered the current mulch layer/cover crop and top dressed the 3 Soul Mate f2s in the 10gals.
Top dress consited of Kelp meal, Neam meal, meal worm frass, gypsum, basalt rock dust,
Crustacean meal, humic and fulvic acid and a few extra crimson clover seeds incase the buried crop doesn’t poke through much, this was all topped again with barley straw and watered in with plain water (with a dash if Horse chestnut extract).
Plan will be to flip these to flower in about 10 days time.

(Back left c99 x mendo, centre S.A.D CBD, other two ???)

#2 (my favourite, has a very pungent sweet lime smell on a lower stem rub, and is by far the best structured and most vigorous)
