Bodhi Soulmate f2 grow & f3 / S1 making

I’m impressed with the trussed up one. She’s a picture of health, well, for now, lol!

Starting to stack, fatten, and show some frost

I wish I didn’t have to support, it’s a bit of a pain to set up… especially if I wait too long, which is usually. I got her early. I use extra Si, have fans blowing, and still get some floppers. I’m trying to stop taking chances!

It’s always something!

Just a little update from the weekend.
The cover crop has started to sprout in the 10gal fabric pots. And I’ve started seeing some mycelium(?) Growth on the surface in-between the alfalfa chop an barley straw.

This week I picked up a few supplies for making compost teas, anyone with experience making these, feel free to chime in. I am always happy to learn something new!
I made a brew of Kelp meal, compost/vermicompost and aloe, with a dash of concker soap that I made from horse chestnut tree leaves.
Looking nice and frothy from the leaf soap.

I then lightly watered in some insect frass and bokashi blend to the 10gal pots.

Heres one of the 1gal pots that I’ve added a mulch later too, we’ll see how this goes, might just end up feeding this one on bottled organic feed.

Not sure if I’d mentioned already, I’ve added a few worms to each 10gal pot too.

If you’re interested in compost teas, this is pretty much the go-to source: http://microbeorganics.com/

I’m just curious, why did you add aloe? That’s an antibacterial/antifungal, although I’m not sure how it’d affect a compost tea. Maybe you’d have to brew it for longer than normal? I’m not sure, but I wouldn’t add it to a compost tea. Compost teas, you’re trying to increase the bacteria and fungal populations, so adding anything that might suppress their growth seems counterproductive.

When I brew mine, I just use 1/3 cup molasses and 1.5 cups EWC/compost in four gallons of water, brewed for between 24 and 36 hours, depending on what stage of life the plants are in. Either way, I only ever water with two at the most, once in veg and once when they’re in their flowering containers. Anything more than that seems like overkill. And it shouldn’t be necessary anyway.

To be honest I added the aloe as I thought that might be a source of saponins, but after adding a quarter teaspoon (to 8ltrs of water) I decided to use the horsechesnut soap instead. Just thought I’d mention everything that was in the tea for reference.

I wasn’t aware that aloe would be that detrimental to the tea though, I’ll have to have a read up on that.
Thanks for the link!

Clackamass Coots always advocated adding aloe after doing the tea brewing. He claimed the salicylic acid breaks down in about 20 minutes, particularly when using as a foliar spray.

Ah OK, that’s interesting. So adding the aloe last after I’ve brewed, just before application, I’ll give that a go.

I’d just omit the aloe altogether in your compost teas. Maybe use it in a foliar or water it in later.

Thanks for clearing that up with the c99 x mendo breath. You did tell me who’s it was but I couldn’t find the message again.

I know what you mean about the soil price too, even from the same website you can buy all or the components needed, but they sell them in bigger volumes. So I’d have ended up with far too much soil, but would have worked out cheaper by, if that makes sense…
If I had a real outdoor garden lol I would have just got the extra soil and put the excess outside.

A couple of my Soul Mates aren’t liking being in the small pots at the moment. One or two of them have been quite finicky,
Ideally I would have up potted them over a week ago but I don’t have enough pots or soil to do that
Looks like some are about to show sex though, so fingers crossed :crossed_fingers: by weekend they’ll be in 10gal.

My dodgey one came around. She’s been flipped

The other one at 30 days. She is very branchy, like I’ve seen in some other Wookie crosses. I can have a powdery mildew problem, so I thinned out her center pretty well, and took a bunch of fan leaves earlier. She’s got good airflow, now.
Her fans are more on the NLD side, sort of like some of the Goji OG’s I’ve had. There’s a bit of a floral scent, but mostly she just smells like good weed!
Frost is forming, a bit slowly, but it’s forming. She’s still the picture of health, at the mo!
Her leaves are a delightful shade of green, and not a brown tip in sight.

I didn’t let this veg as long since I didn’t know how she’d stretch, which was very little.
I let the younger one veg a little longer, and larger, so we’ll see how that goes!

Thanks for sharing these! It’s like having time machine on my grow and getting to peer into the future a bit lol.

That bottom one looks quite similar to its mother.

The Soul Mates are taking their time showing sex, so I’ve dropped the lights to 12/12, will leave them like that for 2 days and hopefully that shoupd spur them on a bit. They’re starting to really show how much they don’t like the small pots now.
(Note to self, buy more pots! )
The two mystery seeds that have been up potted have been topped, and are taking to their new pots now.

Watered with another compost tea 2 days ago, no aloe this time.

The cover crop on the 10 gal has really came through and there’s plenty of mycelium showing now as well.

They’ll be alright. Cannabis is a pretty hardy plant. Once you get them into the bigger pots, they’ll explode.

That should be plenty. The thing with compost teas, you’re just introducing it into the soil. It’s not a “nutrient tea” or whatever that needs to be re-applied every week. In theory, the bacteria/fungus/protozoa etc etc should multiply and grow or expand or whatever on their own. No need to be constantly adding compost teas to your soil. In fact, I’ve always thought that the constant re-introduction of compost teas throws the mycorrhizae etc populations out of whack. Add it once, let it do its thing. Know what I mean?

I see a lot of people adding Mycos or Great White. During growth. Several times.
I add about a tablespoon when I up-pot from beer cups. Get it on the roots good. That’s the only time I give them any and the mass of roots that forms from that little bit, makes it to where I can barely slick my finger through it to feel the soil. And amazingly fast too.

Yeh for sure, it was more so because I’d up potted the two mystery plants, so wanted them them get a good dose. But I’d brewed in an 8 litre bucket lol, so didn’t want to just waste the rest.
I still can’t figure out what those unknown beans might be, my fiancé seems to think think could be Strawberry Diesel by Holy Smoke Seeds. I’m pretty sure whatever they are they’re are fems.

I’ve got 3 of the Soul Mates so far that I think are going to be females, and they not doing to bad 8n the smaller pots.
One or two that aren’t doing so well, I may just cut soon anyway, don’t want any runts to be honest.

I always add some Myco when I up pot into their final containers too.
I haven’t grown in 10gals before, so I want to make sure they have a decent root structure before flipping to flower, as they’re going to be pretty big plants.:ok_hand:
