Bodhi Soulmate f2 grow & f3 / S1 making

@SonsOfAvery I hear you! Jeremy does do a great job explaining and recommending products. As far as the change in setup this season, I’m excited for the exact reason you described! I’m pretty space limited so 5 gal pots are about as big as I can go in my 2x2.5 flower tent and still get a reasonable number of plants for a passable pheno hunt or flower run. Been considering a custom bed the full size of the tent but I’m not ready to give up being able to pull pots out to clean or rotate etc. at least you’ve got last seasons 10gals they ran as a reference to look back on right? I hope they keep the series going for a while and cover more and more different stuff as they go!

Yeh, I just finished watching the first series and that convinced my to finally try a full organics grow.
Then they switched the setup lol.

I’d love to have a space for a full bed, even just a 3x3, but with my only tent being a 4x4, like you say I’m just not ready to give up the pots.
Plus I’ll be moving home soon, so I dont mind lifting 10gal pots, but no way am I digging out a 3x3 bed lol.

Yea, it’s a big commitment for sure. I run large volumes of soil outdoors and follow their style pretty closely but indoors I’m realizing I have to find my own kinda hybrid way with the smaller pots so I was stoked to have him walk through how he approaches the smaller soil volumes. Went out and bought some cold pressed fish hydrolysate after watching the first video of season 2, waiting for him to outline how he uses that but the mothers I’m holding have lived it so far, now I’m considering a drip watering system too after watching him set one up.

I’d thought about having a drip system for when I run smaller pots as well, but the room I have my tent in also has my comic book collection. And if that place got flooded  well… I don’t don’t want to think about it haha.

I believe he mentions the fish hydrolysate in season 1 as well, but I binged the whole thing in like 3 days, so can’t remember what episode lol.

He talks about the fish hydrolysate right at the beginning of Episode #24 from Season 1, and then a little bit later again too. Here’s the link:

Saw that one, I got the sense he was going to go into a little more depth on using the fish to supplement the smaller soil volumes in the 5gal pots to keep things happy. With only using top dress amendments I’ve found that as soon as the plant maxes out it’s container it’s a ticking clock until deficiencies set in, so I’m starting to include the fish as well as kelp sludge in my waterings to hopefully help sustain those plants health in their smaller pots a little longer. Particularly hoping that this will be helpful in holding mothers for an extended period of time and keeping them healthy

He’s been top dressing everything too. Build-a-flower and craft blend in the last video.

Yea I assume he’s feeding the fish in addition to the top dressing to provide nutrients that are more immediately available to the plant as well as a reserve that will break down slowly over time. I could be wrong there though

Not really he is feeding them on a dripper system.

The way he described it that dripper is supposed to be supplemental watering not feeding as I understood it, he’s deliberately setting the dripper to less overall water than is needed so that he can still hand water and feed

Yes, that is true. I still haven’t seen him feeding the 5 gals any different than anything else. The plants are pretty small too… guess we have to stay tuned. :+1::seedling:

you know it!

Yeh, i believe he’s trying to show that you can do smaller pots basically the same way you’d do larger pots… of course with a drip system to maintain the correct moisture content.

I’m looking forward to seeing how the 5gals perform when they start to stretch. Especially if he’s not topping or super cropping them. I have a feeling one of them is going to be very tall compared to the others.

I added a few extra Watts to the tent today, by adding a vuparspectra ufo 225w. I believe the actual draw is about 90w though.
It’s starting to get cold here in UK now, so I needed to boost the temps a bit.
Whole tent is sitting at around 360-370w now.
And temps have settled at 80f.

Meanwhile in the cupboard, this Soul Mate f2 is doing some ridiculous praying  lol
Almost vertical fan leaves.

Pulling up a chair to watch, I’ve heard about Bodhi’s seeds for a while now and haven’t watched a grow. If you end up selfing or coming up with stable-ish F3s, you could probably twist my arm into taking some seeds to try out. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for tagging along @Cormoran !

From the f2s I have a male that, so far in veg, looks quite similar to the females that I have kept.
So hopefully the f3s will produce somewhat similar plants.

If all goes to plan, and I get enough seeds from this endeavour, I’ll absolutely be offering them out.

@LegsMahoney new Build A Soil video up, and Jeremy talks a bit about Fish hydrolysate when he Whips up an amino foliar spray near the end.

I still can’t seem to find a straight forward answer ad to whether or not I can just use BCAA powder as an amino for plants.
I can’t see it doing any harm, but not sure if it’s the right aminos required by plants.

Awesome! Gotta drop in as soon the kid goes to bed

Before even watching this one I get the feeling that he’s using the fish as a supplement for flowering specifically. The stuff I bought seems to bill it as a full spectrum nutrient though, usable through veg and flower, which is what made it seem appealing to me in addition to top dress feeding. Basically an insurance policy against deficiencies with larger plants in smaller pots, does any of that track for anyone here who knows better than me?

Moved SM #2 under a 315 and 240 QB to finish up. She’s at 22 days. A litttle wider leaves than #1, but not by much. She seems to be frosting up earlier, though. Same branchy Wookie structure, but the internodes don’t seem so far apart.

She just finished stretching, I think, so I cleaned out the middle larf & fans, and trussed her up.

She’s just as vigorous, and healthy looking as her sis, so nice one on the F2’ing!

#1 is at 55 days. Taken a bit, but there’s frost on the roof! Delicious smells, a sort of yeasty sweet roll thing. A bud brush gives a soft floral scent, but still like nice fresh weed with a hint of turpentine. No lavender, yet. Most of the Wookie crosses I’ve grown have had the yeasty thing, could be me, I do like bread! She’s chunking up nicely, too!

I can’t remember if I said, or not, but they are 2g airpots w/ coco & a bit of perlite. Feed is Megacrop, silica, and some KSO4… no higher than 1.4 ec. Also a smidge of extra Ca. Been dropping #1’s ec for the last week, she started showing a hint of too much on her fan tips.
RH 50-60%, temps 70-80°F.
10/14 lighting schedule.
Very easy plants to care for, so far!
