He’s in santa cruz, it was very easy to find the arcata trainwreck cutting in the bay area at any time between 2007 and 2012.
Yeah he’s also on LinkedIn.
Took cuttings last night. Some of the plants are just starting to show pre flowers but I didnt get too wrapped up in trying to sex all these plants right now since I’m planning an open pollination.
Hard to distinguish between phenos, but there does seem to be a more upright pheno, but also a very short and squat pheno too. We’ll see what topping did across the board, but at this height all 12 exhibit very strong apical dominance with little to no branching. The leaf shape is pretty consistent across all 12, with slight variations between plants. Some plants getting a little stronger smell on the stem rub than others but none were standout as “loud” at this point.
Given the traffic jam in the flowering room, my course of action is either going to be continue to veg these original plants for 4-5 more weeks and then get the females in to start flowering for 2 or so weeks as the remaining plants finish, then throw in the males. Or I’m waiting 6-8 weeks until flower room is empty then I slam them all in at once for the open pollination.
Plan B to all of this if things get unruly w/ 4-8 weeks of veg coming up is to just put the plants I’ve cloned all into flower so I’m not dealing w big plants in 1 gal pots. In hindsight, I should’ve either filled the whole room earlier, or stopped adding new plants about 4 weeks ago. Either way, easily enough to deal with and I may need to retool mid flight a couple times. I just wont be able to get this initial OP finished ASAP.
Here are some pics before I topped/took cuttings:
Group shot, before cloning and labeling
Set up to start taking cuttings:
After cuttings taken
Been about a week, was gone a few days, got back and no roots yet.
1 gal seedlings doing great. If the clones root this week, I’d have been putting them into flower in a week or so, but given whats in the flowering room, it seems like I’ll be waiting a bit longer…
1 gals are still healthy. I wish I could chuck those into flower right now but I don’t have the space
Starting to get a few of the clones to root. Didn’t use a root get or aloe dip on these, just added powdered aloe and coconut to the water the plugs were soaked in. I think 4 out of 12 are showing roots.
Group shot. Checked for sex today, 1 confirmed female, 3 males, the rest are still TBD.
They all looks really good and healthy .
I just got caught up and I’m in for this grow show. Looking perfect so far!
10 of the 12 clones have roots. Was gone for a few days, solo cups got dry and clones are looking a bit lite in color. Going to give them a little fert next time I water.
I know, bad blurple pics. But these plants are going to get unruly, I probably have 6 more weeks til my flower room opens up. So ive got to figure out how to keep these short, and not needing a bigger pot, and get all 12 clones rooted and vegging. I think the clones are going to get flowered and the original seedlings I’ll hang onto as moms/dads at least til this first round is done flowering and I can see what ive got…
Nice grow newb2!
Thanks for stopping by! I’m ready to get down to business here, and I dont have any good alternatives other than waiting for my flower room to clear out. I can turn my veg room into an extension of the flower room, but then the flowers that are finishing up are going to get pollinated late.
One thing ive been thinking is when the last 3 plants in flower are about 7 or 8 weeks, throw in the ID’d spirit train females, give them a week or 2 head start, finish the flowers that were already in there, then introduce the males. But I still think I’m 3 or 4 weeks from that point. Need to check my notes on when I started them flowering when I get home…
@newb2.0 any interest in trading Bodhi seeds? I’d buy that spirit train but it’s out of stock. I have my homemade Lavender Mimosas (Bodhi Lavender Jack male x Mimosa) and Lavender Frosting (Bodhi Lavender Jack x Vanilla Frosting) and I’d give you double what you give me. So say you give me 5 seeds I’d give you 10
Stick around this thread and remind me when I’m finishing up this run. You’re looking for the f2s, right? I dont have any of the f1s left as I ran the whole pack
I like the genetics so F1’s or F2’s… I have F1’s for you
Heres a better pic of the vegging plants, under a little better spectrum of light. I think I’ll be able to stick them into flower in about 3 weeks without running the risk of a late pollination of whats in there now.
Very happy, healthy plants there!
I’ll give that credit to a couple other members @ReikoX for his soil recipe and ongoing guidance for living soil and amending/reusing soil. And long lost @jetdro who’s no longer on OG for turning me onto the Urban Farms Texas Tomato Food during veg. Can’t see it in the photos, but they’re about a week away from showing N deficiency. Just starting to see the initial signs on 2 or 3 plants. So next 2 waterings they’ll get a shot of TTF at a low dose to keep them happy for a couple more weeks.
Just for clarification, I go strict living soil w organic amendments once I go into flower. I take a slightly hybrid approach in veg if my 1 gals arent keeping the microbes happy w the amendments only. The TTF is organic based but not full on organic. Makes a huge difference in maintaining the dark green growth in veg.
Another tangent- once I bypassed my water softener, keeping plants happy got so much easier.
Are you using urban farms vegetable fertilizer or texas tomato food. Different products and jet was using the veg fertilizer during veg and jacks products during flower. He started with the texas tomato food for flower and switched to jacks with better results.
I use the Texas Tomato Food in veg. Then I go to just organic amendments in flower
You would be better off using the urban farms all purpose vegetable fertilizer.
