Bodhi Time Bandit and Goji

What node I top at? Uh, wherever. I don’t have a hard-and-fast rule. I usually top whenever I transplant from their three-inch starter containers and into their half-gallon veg containers. But not always. Sometimes I top at the fifth node. Or the sixth node. Or the seventh node. I don’t think I’ve ever actually counted the nodes before I top. I just top them whenever I think I should.

What node you top at?

Usually 3rd, after it hits the 6th node or so.

Still learning, haven’t really got into it (and had it work successfully) . Struggle with how many & when to top for max yield vs. Veg time .

Was that your big yielder? That bud structure looks exactly like my Goji and I wonder if it is similar in smells. I get a lot of apple/raz jolly rancher with a very light kush pine. Pine shows up after a good cure.

I’m really jealous. I’m 3 months out from finishing my plant. I’m down to the final few Goji buds in my jar.

That bud looks delightful…rock solid I bet.

Yeah, these buds are definitely much, much tighter than the first time I grew Goji. Pretty dense. I’m not sure if the #3 was my biggest yielder. I haven’t weighed anything yet, but it did fill up three of those twelve cup mason jars. Not the biggest yields I’ve ever gotten, but not the lowest, either.

I’m certain the smells’ll change while they’re curing, although I hope they don’t change too much. I’m really digging the way they smell and it’s a nice contrast to the Time Bandits, which seem to be leaning pretty heavily towards typical OG and/or fuel-y smells (except for the TB #6, she definitely has a noticeable fruity thing going on, too).

The Time Bandits didn’t get their “final seal” or whatever until two days ago. I’ll still be opening the Goji jars twice a day for at least the next three or four days and then they’ll get sealed up for a minimum of two weeks, but probably more like three or four. I like to give my buds a pretty decent cure before I start cracking them. And I actually always open the same jar first until it’s empty, then crack the second etc so that some of the buds’ll be sealed up for like two/three months.

I’ve found that if your only concern is “maximum yields” you’ll almost always be disappointed. Better just to let the plants do their thing and sometimes you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

As far as veg times are concerned, if you’re starting from seed, it’s best to let them veg for at least eight weeks. This particular grow, the plants were vegged for 69 days. I don’t think I’ve ever flowered before sixty days and definitely not fewer than eight weeks.

I’d imagine its the smell of goji berries

You maybe on to something there about the topping I didn’t top any of mine as I like to see natural structure first time I grow something

Only one of my gogi’s supported there cola weight the whole time

Sincy also sent me gogi x secret chief when he sent me these F2s unfortunately the ones I popped were males but I think he is on the right path to strengthen them up some

Uh uh, it’s blueberries. I had a “goji” pheno of, uh, Goji the last time I grew it. Tasted exactly like dried goji berries, but a little more tart. This is definitely blueberries. It’s unmistakeable.

Yeah, one thing I noticed on the Time Bandits was that the branches of the #4, the only one of the TB I topped twice, were noticeably thinner than the other three. I have shitty eyesight that seems to be getting worse every day (really need glasses but won’t go get them until this covid shit is over with), but even I noticed that the branches were smaller. Which would imply, to me at least, that they’re weaker. And then, yeah, the Gojis were topped twice, too.

Off-topic, I set aside a nug of the Time Bandit #2 before I jarred them up and blazed a little bit last night. It’s excellent. Did a bong rip before I got in the shower and then another after. Big-time creeper, which I love. Got in bed and was like,”Hm, #2 seems kinda weak…” Ten minutes later, I was all in my head, thinking extremely positive thoughts and got the munchies shortly thereafter (which I also love). Got outta bed and ate some extra-sharp cheddar and Triscuits haha. That cheese tasted really, really good. And the apple I ate was very good, too haha!

Although, to be honest, it was a really good apple, all crispy and juicy. I would’ve enjoyed it even if I hadn’t blazed that Time Bandit.

@HolyAngel Something I was thinking about regarding the WiFi43/TLC Collective’s choice of the #43 etc: TLC Collective is, first and foremost, a dispensary. They’re interested in making money. So in reference to exactly WHY they chose the #43, I’m thinking it was probably just the strongest pheno that also yielded the most. They’re not interested in subtleties/differences in highs or which pheno offered the truest “White Fire experience.” They’re interested in how much money they can make.

I don’t “follow” them on social media and really know nothing about them, so I don’t know how genuine they are with respect to searching for the absolute best pheno out of a run of 500 plants. I did have a friend who raved about what they were offering at their dispensary when it first opened; apparently there were like two hour-long waits to get in. Fuck that (I also chalk that up to social media hype, which is almost always bullshit). But yeah, I’m figuring their main motivation was to find the biggest-yielding WiFi plant and make as much money as they can off of it.

Having said that, if Bodhi thought it was good enough to make a cross with, it’s probably pretty good.

Ah, well that makes sense then. Especially if they’re looking for medicinal effects too, and if it yields really well on top, that’s a big win for them. Can definitely see where they’re coming from. I for sure didn’t mean “worst” as in bad, but just like you said, it has kind of the opposite effects of the strain itself. I guess that is how some of these legendary clone-only came about though. Regardless I’m sure it’s great.

Oh, yeah, dude, I didn’t think you meant “bad.” I knew what you meant.

I dunno about “medicinal” affects. Or at least, I don’t think they were worried about providing relief. I haven’t been to a dispensary in a long time, but one thing I’ve noticed about places in LA is that it’s few and far between that a place is run/staffed by people who give a shit about weed. They’re all pretty slimy haha. I’m fairly certain TLC was just worried about,”Which plant yields the most and gets you the most fucked up? How much money can we make off of this?” When dollar signs are your main motivation, your judgement is clouded.

Also, what really is “medicinal”? Usually, I feel like people say “medicinal” when they mean “narcotic” etc. Couch-locked. Sleepy. Pain relief, sure, but that’s usually accompanied with the aforementioned “sleepy/lazy” effects. I have real trouble sleeping, so yeah, anything that helps me fall asleep and stay asleep I guess I’d consider medicinal. But for me, I think weed that motivates me to get up and actually DO something, that inspires positive thoughts and actions is just as medicinal. And harder to find. Which I guess was my whole point regarding the #43 versus what I consider to be a real White Fire experience. White Fire always made me want to get up and do something.

I dunno. I’ve barely even smoked this shit yet hahaha!!! I dunno what I’m talking about!

:joy: Almost choked on the apple I’m eating when I saw this.

I’m glad you got that. I’m starting to get sick of typing “haha” just so people understand when I’m trying to be funny. Sorry you almost choked on that apple, though.

It was worth the near-choking. It was a really good apple. :v:t4:

I just couldn’t wait, I smoked some of the Goji #3 last night. The smell’s already changed. When I’m not sure of how something smells, I hand a nug to my girlfriend and ask her what she thinks. I smoke cigarettes, she doesn’t, so I trust her opinion way more than mine when it comes to smells. Anyway, she said it was like grape bubblegum and I agree. Reminds me of old-school grape Hubba Bubba or grape Big League Chew. Really nice. I thought I wanted it to retain the blueberry thing, but if it ends up smelling like grape bubblegum, I won’t be mad.

But it’s changing every day. Hoooo, lawdy, it’s changing… Pretty curious to see where it ends up.

Anyway, the high was really, really motivating. Very good. Two bong rips was all it took to get me to condition my hair in the shower (and I never condition my hair) and then, after I dried off, shave, which I haven’t done in like three weeks. And that was at 1am, when I’d usually be like,”Let’s get this shower over with and get in bed ASAP.” It also made me think really critically, started thinking about politics (which I hate) and how the DNC really doesn’t care about winning, how they saddled us with the corpse of Joe Biden when they could’ve had Bernie, how corrupt politics is etc etc etc. Not the greatest train of thought, but still…

It’s funny, I googled “Goji OG smoke report” yesterday, just to see what I’d find. And one of those bullshit “smokereports.com” or “ilovegrowingmarijuana” or whatever was the first thing that came up and it claimed that Goji was 80% Sativa. Which is obviously bullshit, nobody knows the real percentages. But I’m inclined to believe it hahaha!!! That shit got me way up and much later than I ordinarily even stay up. Usually get in bed around eleven, this happened at 1 in the morning. The #3 definitely smoked differently than any other Goji I’ve ever smoked.

Anyway, the buds were feeling a little too crispy for my liking, so this morning I weighed them and then threw a couple Bovedas in each jar, gonna keep them sealed for the next few weeks now. @Tommy_McCain You were right, the #3 was the big yielder. 74 grams. The other Goji turned out 71 grams. I did the same thing with the Time Bandits, weighed them and threw a couple Bovedas in the jar for the final seal. The TB#6 weighed the most, 68 grams. The rest were in the mid 60’s.

I dunno if it’s the genetics or me or what, but I’d expect a lot more growing in those seven gallon pots. Last time I grew in seven gallons, about four years ago, my Mountain Temples just beasted out and yielded crazy. That was the same grow as my first run with the Goji, which didn’t yield as well as the MT’s, but still… Probably just the genetics. I’m pretty curious to see what the new plants do in those seven gallon pots. Is it just that the GHash dad doesn’t produce big-yielding plants? Is it me? I dunno.

I’m inclined to believe from reports that the ghash offspring can produce shorter squat plants I might be wrong though. Sounds like you did pretty well and the complex smells from that goji sound fun.

Nice to hear about the Goji. That’d be the pheno I’m looking for as well. Big, tasty, potent and up effects. Hopefully I’ll be prepared for the flop.

Agree 100000% about the establishment DNC. What a bunch of rich old white privileged pieces of shit. Same for the RNC to be honest. Not much fundamental difference between the two of them. All completely coopted by corporate and money interests. Ruining our country like the robber barons and rich elites of the industrial revolution.

Can’t wait until the whole system is overhauled. There was a nice article about that the other day linked off of Drudge about how we’re one of or THE only western democracy that still allows gerrymandering, single-party districts, and disproportionally large representation from states with low population. There is no reason the winner of the popular vote should lose the electoral college, with the electoral college being another outmoded travesty, a total abrogation of electoral justice. /rant
