This is extremely frustrating. I have 4x4 tents from several brands (Gorilla Grow and Secret Jardin) and my Botanicare 4x4 OD trays do not fit inside any of them. The poles inside the tent only provide about 46 inches in between them and the lips if the trays are exactly 48 inches. How do people get their trays to fit inside their tents? I guess I am going to have to dremmel off the corner of the trays for them to fit in the tents. Either I am missing something or these tent manufacturers are a-holes.
It’s an unfortunate truth that a lot of tents are measured in metric and approximate their size in the imperial system. 120cm is about 2 inches less than 4 feet.
I’ve also noticed that alot of the 4’ measurements that the tent makers advertise are outside seam to outside seam and don’t include the support poles. You would have figured either the tent manufactures or Botanicare making the trays would have adjusted their products to work with the other industry components.
I think the disconnect is that the botanicare trays are made for the greater hydroponics industry, which is not generally using tents. So botanicare is not terribly concerned about making them fit, and the tent manufacturers probably have more people wanting specific exterior measurements than are looking for sizes that specifically work with the trays.
This is actually why I ended up using restaurant bus tubs that fit in my 2x4 tent, because they are 16" wide which means three of them is 48", so they fit perfectly, and because their front to back measurements fit between the poles, I can get the full 48" out of my tent.
My vivosun 4X4X80 genuinly appears to be those dimensions. Im a welder fabricator and a made a custom aluminum frame for my scrog net/trellis system…3’11" 1/2 x 3’11"1/2 and it was a tight fit…because of the poles
edit
48ishx48ish on the outside seam
Dremel is the way
I use these too but for different reasons.
I hesitate to ask, but:
…growing reasons?
Yeah I move my smalls to the tub for watering and the rigid plastic trays allows me to move like 7 at a time. Saves a couple trips
Ah yeah, they’re great for a lot of things. I have a variety of things that I’ve gotten from the restaurant supply store for my grow (and around the house). There’s one open to the public near me.
I also use heavy duty boot trays (not the cheap ones) as tent trays or at least drip trays. I also fill them with water as a reservoir for my plants when i go away.
It puts the lotion in the basket or it gets the hose again.
I use them for my smalls in the tent as well.
Work great for that.
Use 2x4 flood table trays in the room for the bigger girls when there’s a lot of run off.
I’ve got a saucer system setup perfect for 1Gs but for seedling the trays are hard to beat.
Not sure what your going for as far as setup, but a 3x3 tray would prob work fine, for a 4x4, in most casss. Thats like 6 inches arount the edge where the pot or bag or whatever prob wouldnt be anyway.
Im pretty sure Botanicare makes a line of trays measured by ID and also OD. Check their website.
I mentioned in my original post that the tray I am trying to fit is the OD 4x4 tray which should be the one in theory that fits in the 4x4 tent. Its doesn’t lol.
I have fought this battle before… Dremel the edges . Then a quick trip to Home Depot or Lowe’s they have half inch by half inch U-shaped plastic and usually 8 to 10 foot lengths. You can put that on the edges to make it more rigid after your cuts if you’d like. I found a reservoir was super flimsy after the trim and I put that on to make it more rigid. cheers !!!
Yes you did. My bad
No worries my man. Thanks for trying to help!
