I have one outside right now, nice red leaf stems and vigorous growth. Very pleasant smelling plants. I planted out 3 seeds and selected the one with the most perfume/cologne dominant aromatic over the tropical fruit ones.
Iâm just saying you can purchase Brothers Grimm genetics for very cheap (strain dependent). And just commenting on how their genetics arenât the âold school parent linesâ from the 90âsâŚitâs true, they might have had some old seeds in their vault - but not the same parents - those are long gone. Youâre getting their most recent breeding work (for better, for worse).
Basically - they are taking whatever strain(s) they have, spraying it with some STS reversal, producing seeds (fem), and selling it (without any testing - no germination tests, no outcome tests, nothing, âŚso theyâre pricing them cheap, and letting you know the scenario). Take it for what it is - I bought some beans myself - just because they are cheap, and they do have good quality parental DNA - so Iâm taking a chance. Contrary, thereâs some breeders out there doing the same thing, but charging high prices for âunworkedâ genetics.
Maybe âinstabilityâ is the wrong description, more accurate to say âMutantsâ. What your getting is the product of genetics theyâre experimenting with (primarily the âNewâ strains", perhaps their older lines are a bit more consistent). Their genetics exhibit two outcomes: some nice examples, but also some mutant strains, as @lightyear has demonstrated. Specifically, I was commenting on his âMutantâ strains - being a product of breeding techniques such as sex reversal, stress, and anything else they do - showing the funky growth possibilities.
I want to emphasize that when I started growing back in the late 80s, early 90s - genetics were very stable, and it was extremely rare to find a hermaphrodite, or any other genetic defect. âŚThatâs a sharp contrast to some of the strains I see now-a-days: Iâve looked at plenty of breeders/genetics, where they Specifically state the strain may hermaphrodite, and/or have a sex mutation under stressful conditions, etc. And like I said previously, when I was growing in the 90âs, Iâve had plenty of strains I would STRESS the hell out of them - whether it be watering (lack of), heating/cooling conditions, lighting, grow techniques (pinching, bending, staking), etc - and all that plants Iâve stressed - they would actually produce better bud (occasionally) - (but never a sex change, or hermaphrodite). Strains were very stable: if it was a female - it stayed female; if it was male - it stayed male. These were the days prior to the STS sex reversal chemicals, etcâŚ
I think Bros Grimm definitely has genetics worth exploringâŚIâve picked up some of their new feminized genetics:
Cinderella Purple (purp urkle x C99) x C99
Ocifer XX (cap junky x rosetta stone)
Sticky Soul (rosetta stone x airborn)
Uberwensch XX (kush mints x genius)
I wonât get to them this season, but have them stored away in the vault for a future garden. Each pack has about 9 feminized seeds, priced at $25 per pack, on sale for $12.50 per pack. I couldnât resist the $12.50 price! âŚI love all the genetics/parents within these strains (knowing that these are untested hybrids).
I get what your saying, but their using proven clones and making hybrids. There sold as testers not flagship strains. So there not being deceitful imo, thatâs why there priced accordingly. Anyway $25 for 10 fems of heirloom hybrids is great value.
Try the headstorm testers, they are top shelf! You canât go wrong crossing headband clone with airborne clone.
Fwiw I agree the c99 isnât old c99. How could it be though bc there fems not regs. So honestly every breeder that sells fems is guilty of this. Only regs can be the real deal, fems are s1. I grow in 2 small tents so regs are not an option.
Grow quality and breeding quality are entirely different topics.
Letâs be honest here too, a good grower makes a huge difference. Yeah good genetics help, but the grower has a huge impact finished product, stress, etc.
Anyway back to the topic, I only have one complaint about headstorm. It tends to leave me groggy af the next am if I smoke alot. Takes an extra cup of coffee hahaha to get going. Usually high thc cultivars will do this.
The best grower in the world wonât grow anything but larf with trash genetics. I canât even begin to describe how much more important quality genetics are than anything else. End of story.
I donât know about that man. Give a noob a strain and a veteran grower, I promise there will be a huge diffrence.
This headstorm is finally done stretching, quite diffrent looking to the others. Almost sativa structure, flowers are setting now.
Give mario andretti a beat up 100,000 mile pinto and see how he does racing.
You canât grow top shelf with subpar genetics. It is not a thing. It would be like expecting someone born with a brain deformity to end up in mensa Itâs nowhere near even remotely possible. The genetic makeup wonât allow for the development necessary.
I donât wanna go back and forth with you on this, we agree to disagree. Whatnow how were those c99 regs? Just ordered the romulan tester, not much info on it.
With c99 I was under the impression the original shiva skunk male was lost. I saw an interview where they said they had to use another shiva skunk male. So I guess itâs the same but diffrent too.
itâs not agree to disagree when i have 20 years of experience watching it happen, but whatever helps you accept defeat dude
You do realize Iâve been here since the beginning right dude lol? As in the original og from early 2000s, Iâm no noob check my diaries before you call me out. Defeat lolâŚokay
Letâs see your grimm grows instead of this.
See the big one there on the left? That is Apollo XX from Brothers Grimm. I ordered the regular Apollo 11 but they shipped the feminized version and I didnât bother to correct them. This was taken around Day 40. We are at Day 56 now and sheâs really filling in. Iâm estimating 12 ounces dried harvestâŚ
Apollo 13 F5 full of seeds for F6, open pollination. I have a long love affair with the original lines and A13 is my personal favourite.
All Iâm saying is I had top shelf genetics and zero experience 20yrs ago, and I grew the best larf this side of the Mississippi. I also had bagseed and grew straight trash. Now Iâve seen it from every angle and variable after 20yrs. If you start with junk you canât create a masterpiece. If you start with quality, at least you have the right tools for the job.
My 222 just got harvested, 1 plant. 222 is romulan cross. Fully seeded with chem d from JAWS Genetics male.
222 smells great. I keep touching the sugar leaves to smell it. She is worth the money. I grew at least 6 other grimm fems. 222 smells best without a doubt. Uberwensch has big yield.
I havenât run them yet. Mr Soul sent me those for free last year when my order I had made for my bday wound up somehow in Puerto Rico . For some reason between Colorado and NYC USPS decided to send my seeds on a trip to PR where they got stuck going back and forth between 2 cities post offices down there. When I showed them the tracking they sent out a complete new package and added those in as well as a sorry that happened to you. Last run of their stuff I had tried Puck Yes, Rosetta 78 and Durban/thai x c99. All 3 were fems. All 3 were nice grew well, no issues and turned out nice. You can see them on my thread. Of those 3 Durban/thai x c99 Iâd recommend to anyone to try because of how much I liked the way it turned out.
Nice i didnât care for the durban thai too much. Just wasnât quite what I was expecting. I was think9ng it was going to be a hazey terp smell and flavor with heavy incense smell. Mine were all meaty and savory herbal. Good high and yield though
Lightyear sorry if I came off as a dick earlier, wasnât my intention.
Happy 4th everyone
All good dude Genetics conversations turn into bloodbaths sometimes. I donât mind a healthy debate.
