They are indeed taller, less compact than I remember. But it's been a while. I'll recognize the final product though, those buds were one of a kind.
I grew out the original C99 once, and while I can't find the old documentation, this structure is closer to what I remember than that of the A11 for this grow, I'd have to tentatively agree.
Also, none of these show any of the angled branching that was prevalent in the genius-leaning Apollo from days of old. (Again, to the best of my memory)
Too bad. I'm really missing my genius-leaning stuff. And will always hold out hope to get a cut of genius one day. (I asked Mr. Soul about it in passing, not asking for the cut as that would be rude, and he was curt - as was to be expected - and basically hasn't replied again. I didn't get the testers of his G13xGenius either that were promised.....so it goes.....)
And about Sly...I'm thinking I agree. He was before my time, but you weren't, and we've talked long ago about this.
Soul is somewhat approachable now, but I have a feeling it's more celebrity of name and working the canna-circuit. Don't get me wrong, his knowledge is good, but there's something that just reminds me of the carnival-style you'd see in other less-than-serious bean makers from the past. I just hope that the genetics are decent enough even if different. Maybe it's a bit of celebrity going to the head. And I'm not into hero-worship.
In any case, I'll try out his gear because I have it, and move along in time. Most of it I have no frame of reference to anyways. C99 and Apollo11 were about the extent of my experience. But damn, unforgettable. Still far and away my favorite smoke.
My old A11, I think from stock you gifted me: (all I have left of those pics for now) Maybe circa 2006-8?
^^^ Those plants aren't LST'd or tied down or anything, just stabilized with Bamboo....same pots as I use now too. The original was more compact than I'm seeing now.
