Bubble hash: Completing the Arc

So I had more trichome morphology insights. I was thinking about the starting size of the trichome caps vs the end size and how that relates to making hash.

In this day 8 photo of the PPP trichomes, you can see the little expansion walls in the caps themselves. The walls disintegrate and the resin fills the voids created! Learned that from the study. Soooooo if it starts out too small to begin with, it ends up too small to make hash. I’m keeping a close eye on this ppp female, it’s looking like a good percentage of the bract is made out of trichome caps. 3% and up is goooooooooood.
I’m going to keep that eye on the cap size as this plant blooms and I’ll also go and measure the ones from previous grows. Oh the joys of having gigabytes of data! I can go back and analyze it repeatedly!

Single PPP bract, so we know what we’re looking at. I placed it opening side down, using my myopic vision power, lol!

An excellent foam! Compare that to the overdone buds eh?

That batch had no bubbles after the second mix.

What’s the deal with those little floating caps in the over-done batch? (inquiring minds… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:)

Empty seed pods that never turned into a seed. I’ve never let a plant go that long, so I wasn’t sure what the floating shit was at first either!

Hey Joe, do you mind if I share some tek tips on making bubble?
I don’t have pics but text will work as most things are simple enough.
I could do a run next week and add some pics.
Your hash looks beauty,
:v:

Go ahead! There are many ways to do the mix and… from my experience they all work out the same.

It’s all simple things.
#1 Do your paddling in an empty bucket. My work bag is beat up bad after years of use so anymore, I mix in an empty bucket.

#2 I use distilled water. If I had reverse osmosis that would be fine.

#3 Instead of clearing the bags right to a drying screen, first spoon the heads into an approriate sized jar with distilled water.
After the run is done and all the heads are in the jar, with water shake it and let it all settle.
Pour out the colored water and all the waxes and undesirable stuff and repeat untill the waters clear.
It’s easy to pour only water out as the heads are heavy and want to stay on the bottom.
Now spoon the hash out to the screens and dry as usual

That’s about it, It’s supising all the wax and goop you can clean out with the water wash.
Enjoy your hash
:v:

I actually rinse the hash right in the bags, before I dump it out. lol, I taste the water as it runs through the bag, so I know when it’s clean.

You’re probibly right, in the end, it all smokes pretty close to same same but I’ll tell ya what,
I wish my work bag was in the same condition as my filter bags.
Work bag is worked:/

I’m really careful with the work bag. My first bubble hash bag set I gave away after I bought some modern ones. They lasted me 20 years! If I ever hear this bzzzip noise that means I touched the bag, and that’s not good.

I need new bags, you got a favorite? I got mine in 2008

Right now I’m using LABS bags I got from marcus bubbleman. They drain way quicker heh heh. discount hashchurch10 I think I remember shit ain’t cheap, but it’s made in nepal. My first set was a “chill out” from that store holy smoke. Then I got cheap chinese bags payload, and they worked good. I still have ‘em in pristine condition. I was feelin’ rich so I splurged on a 220 and 90 bag from marcus.

mmm dabbed that hash! You know how it looks shiny and perhaps gooey in the image above? It’s not. It’s hard as a diamond!

Got a question, why isnt that hash powdery when you pull it out of the freeze dryer?

I dry it in the freezer, instead of the freeze dryer. Each plant produces bespoke hash, so you have to run clones to capture the goodness again.
