Quick update…

Got everything up-potted to 5 gallon pots. Started last week with the biggest/best plants.

The ones inside spent last week outside, long enough to show sex. Now it is the 2ed group’s turn.

I will probably veg them for another 3-4 weeks±.

So far sex wise we have:

4x GPS Bodega Bubblegum FEMALE, also the biggest and most vigorous by a pretty good margin. May end up needing to top them to keep them from hitting my lights.

2x Fleur De Mal Indiana Bubblegum FEMALE
1x Fleur De Mal Indiana Bubblegum MALE (only male thus far)

Also, it should be safe to assume that both the Calyx Bros Bubblegum S1’s and the CSI Humboldt Bubblegum S1’s will be female.

So that means 12 females, 1 male, with 6 more that I am still waiting on.

Hopefully I end up with more than just the 1 male!!!

Here are the 7 sexed plants and 1 Calyx Bros Bubblegum S1 (presumed Female)

Here are the 11 remaining plants, including 5 that are presumed Female (S1’s)

I am really hoping the FDM IBG that is front row center (biggest of the white pots that are currently outside) turns out to be a male!

Have A Great Day Everyone!

Sadly I have not been updating at www.SoakNBeans.com either. I have a hard time getting pics to upload correctly over there, but I feel guilty doing updates here and not there, so I have not been doing updates  but gonna try and catch up here, now.

@BirD
I have not popped the beans yet. Been tight for space with this run. But I already have some beans, including the ones from you, and also some Sour Bubble, for BGB6K, maybe this coming spring. I am trying to catch some pollen from the male I chose, so that will also be an option for pollinating the ones from you.

So, the FDM Indiana Bubblegum plant that I was hoping would be male from a structure standpoint was in fact a male! He ended up being the plant I chose as my “stud”.

In my photo flower cab I chose the “best” female from each breeder, along with the FDM Male (#1). And put them into flower on October 9th!!!

I also ended up sending the only other male from a different breeder, the GPS Bodega Bubblegum, along with the #2 female of each strain, to my growmie for him to do a parallel seed run in his tent.

Here are the #2 females and the Bodega Bubblegum male from the day I sent them to him, which was October 8th:

That left me with the #3 female of each strain, along with the 2ed FDM male. My plan was to run them outside for flower, and cull the male. However, in the end I did not cull the 2ed male, as I did not want any potential problems with FDM Male#1 to doom my efforts. So I’m the end he running alongside and thus fully seeding all of the #3 females outside.

If you have been keeping track you will notice that 1 of the GPS Bodega Bubblegum females seems to have gone missing! Here is that story…

All 4 of the GPS Bodega Bubblegums females (and the male too) were extremely vigorous. Growing significantly bigger and faster than any of the other plants in this run. This, along with the lack of any other option, was a significant factor in choosing to use the Bodega Bubblegum Male as the stud for the plants I sent to my buddy. At that point I had the 4 females ordered from “best” to “worst” I took the best for my cab, and sent the #2 to my buddy. Which left me with 2 females that were supposed to be run for bud. As I was moving them all around the next day, getting everything ready to either go in my cab and flip, or go outside for bud, I noticed that the #3 female was actually a HERMIE

Upon inspection there was a cluster of a few male flowers at the base of each young bud cluster. Only the lowest flowers of each bud were male while everything above was all pistils. This happened on EVERY bud on this plant.

Naturally I was VERY upset. I grabbed the plant and pulled it out of the veg area, and started immediately plucking the male flowers off (remember at this point I was planning on running “her”, along with the other #3 females of each strain, outside for bud). Thankfully before I finished castrating it I remembered to take a picture. But I regret not getting a pic of it’s full hermie glory.

After I finished stripping the male flowers I did put “her” outside with the other left over girls. A week or so later more male flowers had re-grown:

Since in the interim I had decided to let the #2 FDM male pollinate the remaining females (the ones I was planning on running for bud) I had no choice but to cull and compost this GPS Bodega Bubblegum hermie.

As a consequence I have been religiously checking the #1 female Bodega Bubblegum that is in my flower cab (my seed run) and also have my buddy checking the #2 female of Bodega Bubblegum that is in his tent (his seed run), as well as the #4 female Bodega Bubblegum that is part of the outdoor bud-turn-seed run. Thankfully none of them has shown any male flowers.

So, to summarize out of the 4 GPS Bodega Bubblegum females, 1 was the worst HERMIE I have ever seen, and the other 3 are seemingly totally female.

Also I emailed GPS to let them know about the hermie, they responded that they are regular not feminized seeds and that I should expect both males and females… WTF?

I replied that I have been growing for a while, and I am not an idiot, and that I am in fact seeing a hermie, and that I was not looking for a replacement or anything, just giving them a heads up.

They responded asking me for my order # and proof of purchases. Which I do not have since these were gifted to me for this project (in sealed breeder pack).

I have not corresponded with them since.

You’re probably the 800th person to notify them of hermies. They have a reputation…

2 of the 4 “female” Cowboy Cookies I had from them hermed. I didn’t bother to notify them. They know.

Edit again for clarification. They were not feminized seed, plants from regular seed that were female (at first).

Making dinner right now so I haven’t been able to read through, but so stoked to see you back and updating on this bubblegum run @Dirtron !! Was actually just thinking the other day that it had been quiet for a while, glad to see you back, don’t sweat the lack of updates I fall off on that shit all the time too.

Thanks for the updates brother.
Sorry to hear about the hermies. Im glad you let them know, but I can beleive that tried covering it up by saying their reg seeds and thats what you should expect…smh
Im not on as often anymore for personal reason, but I enjoy seeing your updates and progress. I appreciate it and am sending good vibes your way always.

Smart move. Probably should’ve culled it as soon as you noticed those male flowers. In any event, at least it’s trashed now. Fucking Gu… Sounds like everything else is going well, though.
