Budscure-Smart Drying and Curing Cabinet-Prototype Discussion

@FieldEffect @Organical

I opened this thread to discuss my prototype. The prototype is ready to run the real test. We have a small team of 3 guys: 1 mechanical engineer,1 electrical engineer with rich environmental chamber experience, and 1 marketing guy, which is me, the starter of this project.

  • The Target: A smart TOOL that helps growers deal with the post-harvest process in the easiest way, without compromising of outcome, and to lowers the cost too.

  • The Target Description:

  1. Capacity: that can dry and cure 2 plants(4 pounds of wet)
  2. IOT technology that allows users to control and monitor via smartphones remotely in REAL TIME
  3. Fully automated: After placing the buds inside the box, after 20 days, it will be ready to consume.
  4. Customization: it allows the users to set up his/her own parameters: Temp, RH, Fan Speed, and Duration
  5. Hassle-free: Odor Control, Drainage Collection, Children Lock, and VISIBLE EFFECT, User-Friendly UI
  6. Some fun

*Technical Route
Reach and maintain the right VPD for Drying and Curing by facilitating proper Air Flow, Temp, and RH curves during time.

  • Key Know-how: Algorithm, Components-pick, Laminar Air Flow Design

*Key Configurations:

  1. Capacity: 90 Liters with adjustable and hangable ranks

  2. Climate Control Facility:
    1-Inverter Compressor,
    1-PTC Heater,
    1-Humidifier,
    2-fans for ventilation,
    4-fans for circulation,
    2-fans for Heating,

  3. Control System: Customized Boards with Wi-Fi module to support IOT connectivity.

  4. Monitoring Sensors: 2 sets of RH&Temp Sensors, 4 weight Sensors

  5. User Interface: On-Screen Touch Panel and APP

  6. Auxiliary facilities:
    1-Clean Water Tank,
    1-Drainage Tank,
    2-Replaceable Air filters for in-and-out,
    1-Child-Lock on the Screen.

  7. Weight Monitoring: Real-time monitoring lets you know how much water was removed from the buds.

  8. Possible Add-ups: Rehydration and Terpene Infusion.

I got one prototype in the US. After the test, I am going to figure out the proper VPD for the cabinet.
All of the comments are welcome. And I am quite sure that the final price won’t be more expensive than the current brand.

Very cool, I know very little as far as engineering or designing this type of thing - but I do like reading about it from people who do! Looks like it’s got a lot of features people are looking for, I will certainly be following along.

Very cool.
It appears you are using a sheet metal shell. Are you planning on fabricating locally or off-shore?

Cheers

Very interesting.
I’m curious to watch this unfold.:face_with_monocle:
And I am also excited for you and your team.
Best of luck!

How much is the current brand where’s a good spot to look at these at I’m interested but not sure about price ANYWHO thank u hope you have a great day

Super Cool !!! I will be following along . I have some experiments I want to try hanging whole plants in a controlled enclosed cabinet so this will fun. Cheers !!!

I’ve looked at some of these a year ago. They were CRAZY expensive and wouldn’t fit half of what I get under one light. Awesome looking machines but way too much for what they are.

PS: I can’t comment on the prototype being discussed here that’s just what I seen with the other brands a year ago.

Thank you so much.
It is very encouraging.
And yes, during and curing is not just about producing perfect buds. there are small things to take care. So I took this into consideration without adding much cost.
and of course, I will keep upgrading here.

Yes, Sir!
It will be quite robust. The Dimensions are 19* 33* 22 and were designed to be used for 10 years. so we choose to use metal. At the same time, metal sheets are also good materials for customization.
The plan is to make this product in China. However, if the cost is affordable, we are thinking of assembling it in the US.

@BTYGMO Yes, the rank shelf makes it possible to hang the plant to dry. I have to say it might not contain a big one.

@Cummings420 Thank you!
I will be in Las Vegas for MJbizcon from the 3rd to the 7th, then go back to Taylor MI with my friends there. The prototype will stay there for test and showcase.
I can’t decide on the price yet, because it is the early stage of product development. My target is lower than $1600 for sure. And I think I will make crowdfunding on Kickstarter or so, then there will be more discounts for earlier customers.

@Kushking902 I will keep it in mind to make it more affordable for more growers.

@blowdout2269
Thank you, Sir! It will take some time for us to test it with the real plant to optimize the best setup. we will finish the round-1 test in 2024. by that time, you will be invited absolutely.

@Budscure That is Awsome!!! Great idea and sounds like you have put in the work !!! Best of Luck to you nice job Cheers !!!

@420noob, go check this thing out in person and relay us the deets! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Is that it?!? $400?
Damn, I think I’d need at least $700 to sustain a vegas trip.

It’s not the price it’s more so the size vs price. If I remember correctly it was 5 or 6 thousand US so it’s between 7 or 8 thousand cad and it wouldn’t fit my harvest. It it fit everything that would be great. Like I mentioned tho, that was a while ago and could be upgraded by now.
Do you plan on making different sizes of your prototype or just the one unit?

thats the ticket price 3 days no 1 day available!

This is a great idea and concept! The biggest issue ive seen with any dry/cure cabinets is the size and this seems to be a lot bigger. Maybe great for people that service medical patients, they make $ from growing, but its harder for me personal grower to pay for such luxuries.

This is true. $2000 is a decent chunk of money. However, in the long run, if you have options, this is a good price. If you can choose to hang whole plants or wet trim trays. Flexibility for your time. If you Have the time you can hang the whole plants. If you’re trying to speed things up, you could wet trim, and use the trays. If you ran this for roughly 5 years it would cost you 33 dallars a month at 2000. I’m interested the beauty of this is the flexibility And increased size. I’m not that far from Vegas haha… Cheers !!!

@BTYGMO LOL Come to Vegas and join the party, Sir! It will be fun.
My idea for the product is to make Budscure a helpful tool for post-harvest, making the process as easy as possible without hurting the buds.
It won’t come to 2000 bucks for sure. If I compare my product with the current brand in the market, mine has better features and should be more expensive. However, I do understand that 1600 is already a high price. So mine won’t be beyond that.

@420noob the design is to contain 2 (indoor-grown)plant buds after being trimmed. and Since next week is your Bday, then you should be Vegas for party!

@Kushking902 I get it. Yes, you are definitely right about it. $6000 one should not be sold to home growers who are growing only a few plants at the same time. I will launch this 2-plant model first. and then to make some alternative models to cover different needs. Cost-effectiveness is needed here.

@blowdout2269 MJbizcon guys know how to make money by tradeshow. and the ticket price is increasing year by year.

Is @FieldEffect involved in this? Had a great conversation with him about relative vs absolute humidity, drying and curing. I would have a great deal of faith in something he engineered.

Nope. I would love to get him on aboard if he is interested. at the mean time,I did learnt something from him, especially in cannabis, same as you.
