I decided to stop starting new topics every time I started a new grow and just continue to add to this one for awhile.
Anyway I just added a 4’x8’x7’ tent that’s going to be my new flower room. I’ll be vegging and cloning etc. in my 4’x4’x7’ tent. I’ll be vegging under 6 4’ fluorescent bulbs for now and flowering under 2 SF 4000 LEDs.
This run I just buried 4 each of White Widow, Blue God and BOGs Sour Lifesaver in rockwool cubes and placed in a dome on a heating mat set to 80F.
I’ll be back with updates and pics as things happen.
As of this morning I have 4/4 @BogSeeds Sour Lifesaver, 2/4 Blue God from the server fund auction (thanks @misterbee ), and 1/4 White Widow from another 15+ year old pack I have.
Hopefully others will show themselves before too long. I expected the WW to take a little longer than the others.
Stay safe everyone, it’s getting crazy out there.
This evening we have 4/4 Sour Lifesaver, 3/4 Blue God, and 3/4 WW. Rooting for the last 2 to show themselves.
Ooo old time widow. Lemme pull up a chair.
Ya I love old widows. Who is it from? Good germ rate for 15 year old seeds!
Gotta love old seeds thast still pop!!!
@vernal Thanks for stopping by. My son tried growing these WW a couple years ago in his first outdoor grow and they were very underwhelming. He wanted me to toss a few in my indoor hydro setup to see if it was this particular WW or if he maybe did something wrong.
@beacher This pack was a freebie from Nirvana. I have been extremely lucky so far with my old seeds. Thanks.
@OldManRoy I recently ran a Cali-O x Shishkberry that was the same age. Still have a couple other oldies to run. I hope my germ rate luck holds with those.
The count this morning, BOG SL 4/4, Blue God 3/4, WW 4/4
How do you store your old seeds? None of mine from around the same time sprouted for me.
My old seeds are mostly in the original packs in a zip-lock bag with rice and stored in the fridge. I don’t do anything special or extraordinary for storage. I think it’s mostly just consistency and luck.
Cool…I kept mine dry and safe but didn’t know they should be refrigerated. It definitely makes a huge difference.
I put them in the freezer
Moved the 4 WW, 4 Sour Lifesaver, and 2 Blue God into the veg tent buckets last night as all were showing good roots through the bottom of the cubes. One of the Blue God poked its head to the surface of the cube and just stopped there, and is now turning brown. I’m assuming it’s lost.
Put down 4 more Blue God, hopefully I’ll get enough to germ so I can fill the last 2 spots in my veg buckets.
The seedlings are doing fine right now.
The Blue God are being very stubborn with only a 2/9 germ rate. Still trying to get something to fill my last 2 veg spots.
Two nights ago I put 10 of the seeds harvested from my last grow (Calizahr) down in some paper towels for a test germ. and 8/10 have cracked and are showing 1/4" tails tonight. I just might fill the spots with these if no more of the Blue God germ.
Interesting…I saw some big yields in some big buckets using some of my strains once. They just vegged one per bucket and they grew them big but your system looks faster. Good Luck.
My advice is refrigerate but don’t freeze because if frozen they must be used immediately once thawed and it can reduce germ rates by up to 50% but if you want to go long term perhaps. Bog
Thanks for stopping in.
I’ll be moving any of these that are females into the flower tent in individual 5 gallon buckets. I will fim them once and then let them bush out.
Update on germ rates - WW 100%, BOG Sour Lifesaver 100%, I originally only got 50% on the Blue God so I dropped 6 more just to be sure and final count is 6/10. Only 2 more going into the veg buckets.
All of the vegging babies will get a 1/4 strength feeding tonight
Not much going on right now, just watching the babies grow out of the seedling stage.
The WW’s have some odd looking leaves but I’m hoping they’ll grow out of it.
The BOG Sour Lifesaver, one interesting leaner.
The Blue God, the 2 in back have only been in the bucket for a couple of days. These still seem to be the least vigorous of the 3 strains. We’ll see if they catch up with the others.
Still working on getting the flower tent set up just right but it’ll be a few before these babies are ready for that move.
The WW started showing some real problems about 4 days ago. Leaves were browning severely. pH was a little high at 6.6.
The Blue God looked ok
And the Sour Lifesaver looks good
