I’m running over 100 plants right now from outdoor bagseeds to 10$ packs to bodhi 50$ packs etc
I made a conclusion that if I’m not gonna hit anything from this batch I’m gonna downsize each hunt to 20-30 plants
Tired of working hard for nothing
At least I’ll work easy

hi . exactly - as i said originally . there is many shades of gray .
if i was lucky enough to know someone who i can get seeds with good genetics and a cheaper price then great. however if im going to do a phenohunt then in that situation i want to make as certain as possible that what im starting with is quality. if you are phenohunting for something more easy and generic then it may be cheaper- if you are looking for something exclusive then it may cost a little more. it all depends on what you have access to and being able to sift through the wolf shit out there.
personally i prefer to pay a accurate price for what i get.
that was my point in the bright light of day however in case you missed it - you used a whole lot of time and money searching through 50 packs of generic seeds when you damn sure would have got something if you just bought 5 packs of higher price seeds from a place that has the best.
on the other hand , i really hate it when its obvious that people selling seeds are looking for the money without doing the proper work. you have to really know what youre looking at and sometimes take a chance .

Yes, that was me. I’m glad that you enjoyed it. I’d never been interviewed before, so I was kinda nervous. But we hit it off so well that the nerves quickly went away and we had a really great conversation.

You seemed very natural. Would’ve assumed you’d done a number of interviews.Youse was all laid back.

It’s funny to recognize you on this site, because I stumbled across the AGP interview after listening to the one with Real Seed Company since I’m mostly looking at Landrace info and trying to learn things as a neophyte.

Anyway people should watch the interview with @Ohwolfie
If only because I liked it.

I do have a movie and music podcast that I do with my brother in law every weekend, so maybe that experience helped me out. When I connect with someone and we have a rapport, I’ll talk to them for hours. But otherwise I’m kind of introverted. It’s a weird paradoxical thing…

RSC has some really great landrace genetics. I’ve got some of their Sinai, PCK, and Mazari seeds. I haven’t popped any of them yet, but would like to increase them eventually. Angus has been at this for a long time.

Thanks for the kind words about my interview my friend. Nice to meet you.

Well welcome to OG bro , ive got some thing ill send you for free as long as you post your findings im happy

I do all my breeding from landrace, its a bit more work but its worth it. I feel the main problem with the commercial scene is the soul has been bred out of them . If that makes sense ? But i do have a couple that are landrace x 80s or 90s stuff but it’s not stuff that i put time and energy into, because its somebody elses work smh lol i want my strains to be mine not ripped off somebody else, if that makes sense? And im not hating on anyone that does its just not me .

No matter how you flip it, 50 packs of all price range or 5 packs of a higher end price, it’s all the same F1 or S1 unworked lines
You pay more for a seed pack today not because of work being done, but names and brands.
So, in that reality I’m sorry to inform you it won’t matter if you buy Aficionado 500$ packs or GPS 10$ packs, you still have the same odds.

Neither is worked and in both cases you relay on prior generations being somewhat stable so you could enjoy the subsequent offsprings
We both know, relaying on hybrids that have been crossed to death is a very very long shot.

About my selection, memorize this
PTS - Potency, Taste, Smell
That’s how I’m gonna call my future seed brand
PTS Genetics :grinning:

I don’t care about disease resistance, height, yield, leaf shape, non of that
If the plant is not potent and tasty, off to the trash it goes.
If it’s only potent, I’ll keep it for future breeding projects, same with tasty plants.

My standards about smoke is very high, I smoked the best of the best in my 25 years of smoking, so my threshold is high.

I think potency, taste, and smell are very important, but if you ignore things like disease resistance and plant structure then you’re ignoring very important things in plant breeding. As a home grower I’d be ok with less yield, I’d even be ok with less THC percentage. I would not be ok with a plant with weak structure that was prone to PM, or any other number of pathogens and pests. You talk about taking time and working lines. If those things are so important you should work in disease resistance and plant structure the same way. I’m not sure how you define potency, if you’re talking just THC percentage then I think that is a mistake to aim for that, however I feel like you’re referring to it as the overall quality of the high, which in that case I can agree. I’m on board with PTS but if the plants themselves are weak, spindly and disease prone, they need more work.

I completely agree man and that’s how I look at things being a home grower

You have definitely gone through quite a few packs @DopeKiller. I am curious about what you like to smoke. Potency is obviously your primary concern. Think that is important to most folks and you’ve clearly smoked for quite a while. What effects are you looking for with that potency? Looking to relax? Focus? Energy boosting? Pain relief?
From reading your comments I wonder if you might want to collect some worked lines and cross your own selections to get out of hybrid on hybrid Soup.
I know there aren’t lots of IBL’s out on the market but a worked line to a worked line would probably result in something interesting vigor wise.
I am personally interested in going through the old classic stuff from the late import era up to Cookies. Most of my stuff is hashplants, NL, chem dom. Romulan, Trainwreck, some Diesel.
Potent can come in different packages. I love warning label weed. Indica and Sativa. If its too much for most folks sign me up. One of my early experiences with Northern lights felt like my mind was being shot into space while my body was dropping into the gravity well of earth. That kind of potency is going to be hard to find when most things are copies of copies. I would look into stuff from Africa, India, Thailand, Afghanistan and Pakistan for something original. You might have to run more numbers to find that special cultivar but you would then need to select and stabilize. I didn’t mean to write a novel just thinking out loud.
