well if they are just now getten pollenated, you’ve still have some time before immature seeds ruin and form… get rid of the herm and let this one finish for a full harvest
Well, this one is also a herm. I’m trying to pull anthers as I find them, but at a certain point it will just run its course. Got rid of the other one a bit ago, so from here forward it’ll be pollinating itself.
unlucky, might just start some new fems sooner than later so you get some bud January… all learning experience
Yeah, I figured there was a strong chance, between bag seed and needing to cut the roots and whatnot. It was a test run because I figured I’d end up killing them earlier in the process any usable bud out of the process is a bonus.
And yeah, the siren call of the feminized seeds is quite enticing.
Golden Goat is my pick… but don’t know your needs… anyway you decide, start cracking… takes 3-4 weeks to veg…
I have to have the other tent available! Which is the next week part. That or I pull the current plant immediately. It’s a matter of being able to afford the sump pump (mainly, though other things also) to run the flood and drain in the second tent. Budget will allow some purchases soon, so I’m going to be broke again pretty quickly, but I’ll have what I need.
I could start the seeds but then I have to have somewhere to put them. That’s what stunted/delayed my first run, so I don’t want to do that again.
you can wait, just depends on how badly that plants throwing naners and when you want to cut, maybe finish it, just start next run 3-4 weeks before your planned chop to keep cycle running, veg/flower - veg/flower
I will say don’t get too wrapped up on seeded bud. They don’t look heavily pollinated at all. So far I’ve only found 1 seed in the GC herms from this past run. And 0 seeds in the blueberry plant. Even though buds showed way heavier pollination than what yours is showing right now. There’s always a chance the pollen wasn’t viable.
@buzzmobile My high school marching band played that as one of our “stands” songs during football games all 4 years I was in. It is deeply ingrained in my soul, for better or worse.
Hello folks, no real updates at the moment, but some musing and a question:
I know some of y’all do SIPs or hempybuckets. I know a little bit about them and how they’re set up, and am going to do more research.
I’m prematurely thinking ahead to whatever point I have an isolation tent, or if I want to gift clones to a not-yet-a-grower with a mini version or something. I want to have a non-pump-requiring option that I can get familiar with. Ideally it would be something that I don’t have to touch for days at a time, even when in flower.
For those of you that use “passive” hydro systems like that, what drew you to one or the other (or something else)?
Good thread, great read.
I must say, you did very well for your 1st grow, sorry to hear about the hermi tho…
That’s kinda almost expected to happen with bag seed, but your plants are looking stellar, nice THICK, strong, stacked colas.
Love the setup.
Just got caught up on this thread
Great job
Paps
I’ve been looking at a SIP system with coco for my mom plants, I’d just water them from my system for nutes. I want to come up with a connected system though, so I don’t have to touch them… Work in progress, lol.
SIP looks pretty sweet, there are a bunch of threads on here with a plethora of knowledge, as is usually the case with this place
Look into Octopots
Well, now I have an update I had been planning to get to the grow room after dinner to putter around and tidy things up.
My partner went downstairs to check laundry and was like “is there supposed to be a trickling noise in the grow room?” and the answer is “only if the pump is running, but it shouldn’t be running”
TURNS OUT. The AC Infinity smart plug was on when it shouldn’t be. The controller showed it as “off” but it was on.
Lucky part of having a sump is that I popped it out and onto the floor of the tent and pumped most of it back out pretty quickly. Problem is that it had overfilled the bin itself so it dribbled out past the sump tub, filled the bottom part of the tent, and seeped out quite a bit onto the floor.
I have thoughts on how to prevent it in the future. Also will be picking up some water alarms.
Definitely will be contacting AC Infinity tomorrow about this. First issue I’ve had, and could have been worse, but what the fuck?
Plant looks ok though! So that’s something!
wet floor
Plant overall
Buds
more buds
You’re getting the full gamut of experiences packed into your first grow. Getting it all of the way at least. Bus tubs give me bad memories. Haha.
Uggghhh, glad ya caught it when ya did…
I had a bit of a flood once, with my auto pots.
Just bought a few more as an add on from 4 to 6 pots, and one of the new ones had a crack in it I didn’t notice. I have one of the big blue rez’s 20 or 30 gals, can’t remember now, but I walked in the room and the floor was wet. I opened the tent, and the spill try was level full of water, and just started to seep onto the floor. I live in an apartment, so a flood is REAL bad lol.
One thing I can say, is A.C. Infinity make a damn good spill tray
Glad your partner caught that for ya.
Get the technical folks in here to explain it fully, but I’ve seen plenty of setups with sump pumps and float valves setup by growers for safety. Pump it away to a drain or garbage can larger than your res.
Yeah, this is a shakedown run for a reason! That tray was completely full of water, the 30 gallon reservoir was probably 50% or lower, so 15 gallons at least out of the res?
Going to add a water alarm asap, and change the flooring once I can in the future.
Glad I have the other tent set up (mostly) right now, so I can shift the plant over and close it up for a bit while I deal with the other tent.
Dinner delivery was on the way when I discovered it, so I will go back down and actually deal with it soon. I dealt with the major water sitting in the tray and closed it up and backed away. I’ll get it sorted one way or another.
