Hey I’ve got a Canon rebel t6i and looking to set it up for time lapse photography…would love to hear how you guys do that. From what I’ve gathered online, I might need to purchase an accessory but also heard there’s a method using the video function. Also it seems like smartphones can do time lapse with the video hyper button but obviously want to use my camera. Thanks
I would research installing the Magic Lantern software on your camera. It takes a little know-how but the software gives you so many more features to use with your camera, including timelapse.
Yah, magic lantern or get a cheap intervelometer
Shoot in manual
Change shutter speed to 1 second or longer for the trails
Set intervelometer to 5 seconds plus
Im not an expert by any means but thats how i do
Ok thanks that’s what I was looking at online both the magic lantern and intervelometer but this queen of the night might try to bloom before anything arrives in the mail
it’d be interesting to see what you photograph.
Definitely look into “light-painting,” thats a super cool technique that might be applicable
I’ve taken photos of the milky way on a clear night using 10 second exposure, on an iPhone, they seam to have killed this with an update as last time I went to do it the longest exposure was like 2 or 3 seconds. I know you’re not interested in using a phone for anything just food for thought.
