Can Strains be Identified, from a Seed or Seedling?

Greetings OG’rs,

As I move forward with confidence and new learnings from the amazing Stuff that goes-on here Daily. I keep running into this Contradiction involving a Cannabis Strain I have been gifted; ROOF ‘95.

When I was gifted these Beans from Andrew of LMF in British Colombia, the package contained an exclusive mix of Seeds, he would not have time for.

Included in this package was the amazing CloudWalker, some seeds from a Scott family purchase and 5 of these ROOF’95 seeds.

Both Roof & Cloudwalker were grown beside each other.

Historically every reference to ROOF’95 states its Short and with Phat leaves.

I give a lot of the credit at Buddies house, to the 70% sand that we grow in, but the Roof’95 hit 13’ easily. And I do not believe it had Phat leaves…
Roof ‘95 left CloudWalker right; 6’ fence

And the other way around

I have posted a link to the actual grow diary below. @Tlander is currently growing-out a batch of these exact seedlings, and there will be seeds coming available…

This is a grow that has my full attention and outright curiousity, specifically because of this descriptive difference.

There was never any doubt about the History, I’m just trying to establish the details for my own piece of mind, before we spread a bunch! Lol

Fricking Super excited that it is happening as it is. @THCeed has the 3 original seeds and half dozen Bag-seed from Year 2022. He is planning to include them into one of his 2025 efforts.

This morning I found 1 seed in the original Grove Bag from the harvest. Smoked a 2 year old bud and am blasted !!

Any help on clarifying the Genetics, if possible, would be greatly appreciated!

I’m going to contact another OG who grew one as well.
Thats it, nobody else has seen these

  • back to basics: Does anybody have Roof’95 seeds tucked away, I’d love to see what those Seeds look like :eyes:!!!

@MissinBissin only referenceing the title of this thread so far… My answer is sometimes & No.

Somtimes you can figure out “roughly” what a strain might be only if its unique enough, like freakshow, that one has tell tail signs of what it looks like. But its a rough estimate guess still.

In other general cases of can you tell what this strain is, nope. 98% of Cannabis as seedlings look the same basically.

As far as seeds only for identification, NO.
Unless you got jet black seeds, then maybe you can narrow down to a group of likely candidates, but still not super specific types.

Some clam they can tell the difference, but I cant lol  :joy:

Awesome answers. And as exactly as you’ve laid it out, I understand.

Still calling this incantation; Roof’95.
No Mix-ups, no mis-Labeling

Thank You @CADMAN

(roof’95/24 may be in the fine fine print)

Only thing I can think of, it was named in 95 cause it hit the roof

There’s a whole story around the crate it was grown in, on the roof in Copenhagen… @Trickster. You nailed it

@MissinBissin i went and read most of your post just now lol

Yes you can look at a plant and figure out, ohh this one is gonna have fat leaves or its gonna be taller then the rest ect ect thats fairly easy enough to do. I just ment ya cant look at 10 different strains and identify exactly which one is which by name and be correct. Maybe 50% correct  and thats about it.

Ps. I like the name this one has  Roof’95.

Not really man but if something has very narrow thin leaves you can pretty much guarantee it’s a long flowering sativa and vice versa for broad fat leaves… Of course there are always exceptions. I can actually pinpoint a strain based on the petioles and sometimes just the stem… haha jk. That’s what makes cannabis so unique in my opinion you can grow the same strain in almost identical environments but various tiny little factors can change the final result. Now freak show is one of those you can tell right off the bat early seedling stage

Ohhh ok lol This summer im gonna be growing autos cause my weather here sucks lol I might grow 1 or 2 fem plants, not decided yet. Been ALOT of crime in around the backyard lately and im gettting worried about drawing attention from cannabis growing in the back.

Looks small dark and hard lol Thanks for that, I appreciate your digging them out for me…

I haven’t grown them I still have those 2 seeds. You want em, shoot me a DM it will be a bit but I don’t want anything for em. I see they are discontinued but you have good post history. I am behind on shipping so afterwards I can no stress.

They came as a freebie part of a direct for some old Kushage seeds if I remember right.

Interesting! All of the seeds from the plant I seeded out were quite ‘tiny’ as well! I have about 12-15 of the new batch uP and growing now. These first ones were not even dried, as I wanted to test how well they germinated before sending them out to people. Will try to drop back w/pictures as they grow.
