Hello fellow OGers, I’m currently staying with my parents for awhile, I’m planning a little 8x6 portable greenhouse grow for next season but I won’t be able to bring the plants inside to dry. So my question is, would it be possible to just hang the plants up in the greenhouse? The climate I’m in is dry, I’m in Utah and we’ve had a warm winter so I’m thinking I could probably start early and harvest by September but I’m still a noob only grown one time before and it was outdoor in Oregon so very different climate wise.
Might not be ideal, but if I had to I would.
I’ve never tried to cure cannabis outside but I’ve dried a ton of whole peppers, onions and potatoes as well as various herbs outside with almost no issue. Make sure they have a lot of airflow and are covered under a roof or the like.
I live in Colorado, and I just dry them in my garage, before curing. You use what you have. Takes about a week here, for a six foot plant.
Thank you, that’s very helpful, I’m going to try to camouflage them with tomato’s and plant lavender and basil to hide the smell
they don’t have cannatrols in afghanistan, but still produce amazing ganja. ![]()
embrace the 3rd world techniques. not ideal, but what has been done for millennia worldwide.
as dark and cool as you can get it wherever you’re at. you’ll be ok.
make up for the less than ideal dry with a perfect cure.
That’s a really good point, I never thought of that, thank you! ![]()
Hey @Shanesstrains may I suggest you look into cobbing which is a method of fermenting your flower under pressure and heat resulting in a smooth final product that you’ll want to haul off for days.
Here’s a thread that’ll give you the low-down.
Bottom line, I tried doing this this season and all the flower jars I keep reaching to for bowls are my cobbed flower jars!

Definitely possible, just keep as dark and cool as you can, as others have said. I have to dry in my shed in Australia 90% of the time and I can tell you in summer it’s often over 40 degrees Celsius and although dark, it’s not totally lightprooof.
One trick I do is to plan to chop it down when I know there is a week or so of milder temps immediately after. It means you’re perfect harvest date might be delayed or hurried by a day or few, but for me atleast, it’s better than them getting crisped up and fully drying in 2 days+ of 40 degrees C.
Not really a problem for winter harvests for me which is nice.
Cheers!
Thank you, that’s really interesting, I’ve never heard of fermenting flower before
It looks like a turd, smokes like heaven.

Theres a guy on here that has the most perfect looking Cobbed buds. They look like golden red Cat turds.I think hes in tge Cob thread where people were using Sous Vide to sweat the cobs.I think he just hand wraps though
I’m kind of limited to doing everything outside because of my living situation so probably won’t be doing the cob tek any time soon lol
I have dried outdoors in my shed with a fan moving air around but not blowing on the buds to speed up evaporation takes about a week did it with a load this year had way more weed than I anticipated and ran out of room my whole garage and tent were packed with wet trimmed drying weed limbs was dried in cooler temps so terps are off the chain very fragrant sticky buds. The outdoors shed climate dried them to the point i was able to break down and finish the dry in paperbags from wally world took two days then went into vacuum seal bags and that was all she wrote.I use paper bags all the time to finish up and the cure always comes out just right
I follow the philosophy that the important thing is to use what you have at the moment, even if it is not ideal.
Any advice on what to do about the smell as it gets closer to harvest?
Outdoor is where i dry my guerilla grown every year. There is no indoor around those places hah.
I usually tie a line between 2 trees and hang plants whole. Think knots and tarp tents.
Plants dont have to be covered on all sides, let them breathe.
On good years when i run out of tarps i just grab a log and surround it with trunks, tie the trunks tightly above the log so the plants drape without touching each other too munch. Think tipee, and hang that under a tree canopy.
If it rains and some bundles get wet, i beat the trunks with a stick to shake off droplets.
you can hang these outside around your garden. they catch flies and stink pretty bad like sewage and dumpster. last a few weeks.
