Clickbait bullshit

ā€œThe state cannabis tax rate will increase from 15% to 19% on July 1, the highest allowed by state law.ā€

It’s still a STUPID move given the current state of the cannabis industry in California.

They signed a law in 2022 to increase taxes if revenue fell but they fumbled the DCC with testing labs etc and that LA Times article was really big. Many people are going to cannabis farmers markets instead of dispos now. Instead of raising taxes, they need to be raising confidence in their legal cannabis.

CT has had a legal market for long enough (and has a market big enough) that you’d expect their prices would’ve come down a lot more than they have. IMO people go to other venues because the prices are too high at the licensed shops.

MA is a hop, skip and a jump away.

A little harder from the shoreline though (East Haven is on the shore). From Hartford north MA is an easy trip.

I have to be in MA a couple days a week so I stopped in (tiding myself over until my next harvest) the other day. The selection at the nearest shop isn’t the best but it’s hard to argue with the prices (with a special an ounce was 90 plus tax, and it seems to be a fairly decent ounce).

Part of the problem is that last I checked, there’s still only an extremely limited number of producers in CT. And the distribution system is weird? I can’t remember the details, but I’m continually fascinated at new dispensaries opening after I’d learned about that.

I think that is a big part of the prices being high. Legal Cannabis is still in surprisingly limited supply, so it stays expensive. I could also be talking out of my ass if things have changed significantly since last year when I last dug into any of it.

Ha Ha, yes.
I’m the same as far as interacting with them, music, etc.
Subcool use to play forest sounds for them.

Subcool was definitely onto something playing forest sounds to the plants.

I read a study in the last year that proved playing bird chirping sounds 30 mins before lights go on in an indoor grow helped with growth of the plants.

I have also seen a study where they played one group of plants I believe classical music, and the other some really hard core death metal… The ones with classical music thrived, the death metal ones shriveled up and died.

This is a very interesting topic and I wish I kept links so you guys can also read. If I find I’ll post the links to these research experiments.
