NSAIDS do work and they’re safe most of the time - but there’s risk. This issue is personal for me as I nearly died at age 27 from NSAIDS in the 1990’s - took the recommended dose from my doctor (failed back surgery) and after 6 months, I collapsed and had to be rushed to the ER - they used an endoscopic laser to cauterize multiple breached arteries in my stomach. Pumped 2 huge bowls of blood out of tube through my nose, my gf fainted at the sight of it. Good thing they had a chair in the ER!
The docs said the meds (Daypro) had burned ulcers into my lower esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. I have the pictures - big nasty-looking black holes in my stomach lining. The ER doc looked me in the eye and gave a stern warning “you must never take NSAID meds again” and so I repeat the warning to others.
