CBD treats for dogs

Do you make cbd cookies for your dogs? What strains do you use?

I’ve administered and made a few over the years.
Imo less is more when relation to active ingredients.
Don’t quote me but the rate of absorption is 7x with dogs with weight amongst other factors being considered. So proceeding with caution I strongly recommend as I have overdosed back in the day with my 80 pound Boxer way before information like this was freely exchanged. Too much THC I’m speaking of.

No specific strains in particular but IMO I would suggest isolate to begin as I ve found it easiest to use. Although the entourage effect with a small ratio no larger than 4:1 CBD to THC is working now. A simple equation should be able to give you the ratios per serving as well with what you use to make said treats.

I currently have a Chicken tincture from the commercial market here in CO that works well with my little guy. He’s 13+ and about 15 lbs on a good day so a few drops and he’s relaxing. I give him 6-8 drops per meal.

Good luck :v:

Not CBD specific but I once used the pulp from making butter as a base for dog treats.

I’d say they turned out fine.

He didn’t like them very much.

Intriguing, I can see how a dog would be eager for their medicine like that. Better than hiding it in cheese.

We have been dealing with cancer for about 14 months and he is being treated at a major top vet school in a large nationally recognized univeristy in the country since we are lucky to live close. I have considered this route but he is pain free and at the moment disease free being treated 14 months ago with a big surgery and followed by a complete course of chemo and now on pill form chemo and treating high blood pressure now as well. Last ultrasound a few weeks ago he was clean but the vets explained its still there lurking in the lymph nodes most likely from the way the blood tests have the markers still present in his system. He will be 10 in a few months and we quit keeping track a few months back when we broke the 13-14 K mark. Worth every penny. At some point it will be back and at that point will explore this option more for a hospice type treatment along with what the vet recommends. Until then he has no idea he is sick and runs around like a crazy fool.

I put the drops on his dog food, much easier than making treats. And he doesn’t mind .
