You have removeable arms? I’ve heard of the detachable penis… But this is just wierd.

well, there goes motz

Whoa. I’ve heard of this and it makes sense for those old or hard to pop seeds. But…I’m scared to death to try it. Maybe I’ll practice with some Mexican brick weed. That shit will sprout in a crack in the sidewalk!

Blessings…

I like the lining a matchbox with low grit sandpaper and give her a little shake, or we run a scalpel down the keel edge ever so carefully . Even the OGKB pops like nothing with those methods, it’s genius , works for any with that hard shelled lineage. @oleskool830

I got to say, I agree with you on those methods. For old/hard seeds I will actually do both lol rasp/rough up the outside and use a scalpel on that rim!
Then into the worm casting tray ( my favorite germination method) lol

I’ve seen your method and honestly was very intrigued. That’s all it is eh? Right onto castings, seems to work awesome, I too have a very very high germination rate but have not tried this method , I used to use old pieces of recycled grodan blocks and slabs but now just the norm. @JohnnyPotseed

As the old saying goes cuz…the proof is in the pudding! lol You’ve seen the thread i did on that, and if you go to the ā€˜First Autos’ thread of mine, there are a lot more pics of more batches of seeds into the worm castings. Give it a try with just a few bens to check it out for yourself, I think you’’ like it. You don’t need to do a whole tray…just something small to hold enough castings for a few beans, it works the same no matter the numbers. Just adjust the size of container to fit the amount of beans.

Hey bro. So if you use these mutilation methods should you avoid the soak and plant directly? Or do you plant directly anyway? Peace

I stopped planting directly into the ground decades ago cuz. But after I do that to those old hard beans, I do still go to the castings. Give them what they want to make them feel like growing, and they’ll take care of the rest.

@JohnnyPotseed
I’ve been thinking about trying to germinate some in 1 gal pots and skip the whole solo cup stage. Just a thought. I’m stoned AF!

Take Care…

I shall my friend, 100% actually will be popping some soon and I’m going to give it a go, definitely simpler IMO and less handling for damage…… hmmm

Learned the scuff method about 16 years back, have only met a couple strains since that gave me any trouble. The OGKB are the hardest I’ve ever seen, you could probably stand on those things the shell is so thick lol

My bad cuz lol I misunderstood that completely! After I germinate the babies, they go into small 3-5 ounce cups for the first few days, until they show if they’re ā€˜survivors’ or not… from there they go into the 5-6" pots and up pot as needed determined by growth. Autos I go from the small cups into their permanent homes though.
