Is that snow fence? Are you not worried about the sharp edges?
Noā¦just flexible plastic.
How many octopots are you running under there?
Looks interesting.
Blessingsā¦
Cool, certainly will keep it uniform. Interesting idea, hope it works well for you.
I have 7 under there
I sympathize with the need to do something about the mosquitoes. This year itās so wet (September) that the blood sucking parasites can breed anywhere. Normally, I go around the property looking for standing water to remove but this year itās impossible. Even the shrubs and wildflowers have little pockets of water here and there. Instead Iāve been covering myself up with a hoodie with long sleeves. As much as I dislike being bit by mosquitoes, at least theyāre not finding nasty pathogens like West Nile virus or EEE virus up here this year. As bad as they are, itās the botrytis mold thatās bothering me more. I had to destroy a lot of tops and other places on the plants to search for mold. Iām also removing most of the big leaves to open things up. These are sativa dominant, some of the others, more indica dominant with big chunky buds already had to be cut. I thought of spraying neem oil, now that the rain has stopped, to make the plant unfriendly to fungi but I really donāt like spraying anything unless I absolutely have to. And these girls are pretty resistant but not totally. I got to stop biting my nails!
I didnāt know it was banned anywhere. I thought it was one of those soil bacteria that once theyāve eliminated the pests, crash on their own, like Bt. I need to start paying more attention. Iām sure a lot has changed since I retired, I used to be kept up to date at work, which was convenient. And what makes it more difficult is each state has its own rules. Yesterday, I saw someone suggesting malathion and seven which can be effective but, for whatever reason, Iām not comfortable spraying them on my food or herb. Malathion is not one of the more dangerous products by any means but boy does it smell like what you would think an insecticide smells like.
Good morning everyone, another fine day under way. Hope you make it a good one.
While true that each state has itās own set of rules, there are some that seem to be constant across the majority of states. The spinosad is one of them. Most of the legal states have it on their ābannedā list.
Iām not sure if ALL of the legal states have it on the list, since i havenāt looked into it that hard.
@DougDawson, Wouldnāt a greenhouse do it!? Guess youād have to maintain itā¦ kinda hard! Well, then move Canada closer to the Equator. First option is a bit easier!
Build a greenhouse, lol, no. Plant autos that were started indoors while still cold, now that is the easier option. I just feel bad for all those waiting to harvest their outdoor. Itās 26cel right now and 4 hours away we are getting a frost warning. Thatās Ontario for you.
Wow! Guess we do live in different parts of the world, lol! 27 to 29 celsius average here!! If not 30!
There was a time when that was ALL I had to harvest, and it does get nerve wracking, considering you could lose it all with a hard frost. Having inside and outside helps. Iām wondering if my outside girls will finish by the end of Oct. considering I just realized with the sun dropping in the sky, I am now shaded from noon to 3pm due to some trees. In the summer, they werent shaded as the sun passed over higher. Ugh. 20 friggen years ago that was fields and didnt have these issuesā¦
At worst, they are starting to cloud the trichs now. But they still need to pack on some weight too. Would be nice to get to late october without a frost. I also heard a late winter this year, so thats hopeful tooā¦
Yeah, I heard the same. Just got that weather advisory popping up on my phone. Oh well, canāt fight mother nature.
Reminds me of a time when I was reading strain descriptions off Mr. Nice, and one strain said that it āmight not finish outdoors in the northern hemisphereā.
I thought to myself, what do you mean it wonāt finish? If itās not finished you just keep growing it, right? Itās not going to keel over and die just because the calendar reads October instead of September; you just let it keep flowering until itās done, donāt you?
ā¦ Then I realized that not everyone has weather that permits growing outdoor cannabis through October and Iām quite fortunate never to have had to consider it.
I read that elsewhere just the other day as well! Seasons have shifted a little for sure. 10 years ago we would finish closing koi ponds by Dec 1, 2 years ago we were closing them till New Years. Work went till we got frozen out of the ground, and that also shifted a month. On the other end of winter, we ended up opening ponds up a month later as well more recently. So that gives hope to being able to finish.
Iām not that far north, not even new england, but first frost used to be mid october, and a long running sativa would be killed by cold before she finished. Being much of what I grew then was from bag seed, Iām sure plenty of mexican sativa, an indica would have been coveted for being able to finish early! That first frost will destroy the amount of trichomes you have as the water freezing on them pops em off, and they look like shit after.
There might be some more ābad newsā in the future folksā¦ According to the Old farmerās Almanac weāre gonna have a colder than usual winter, which usually means an early onsetā¦
what can I say, lol Iām an old farm boy and have had a lot of trust in that OFA over the years!
Iām going to say this one more time for the ones that aināt heard itā¦and because I just feel like saying it!!
I LOVE OG!
Over the past few weeks, Iāve seen an outpouring of āshare the loveā and āspread the magic plantā in whatever form we can, of course without getting into trouble mind ya! lol
So many folks with that OG spirit, the list is too long to call individually, from all cornersā¦ to all corners!
