Cheap, Easy, and Available: Privacy Fencing for Outdoor

I have a section along my street facing fence line with bamboo. Note: I painfully dug in bamboo barrier plastic to form a barrier against its spread. this is good cover IMO.

I also this year took some of the young bamboo sprouts and potted them. I have two strains, a CSI Pineapple and a CSI Deuces Wild growing in between the larger bamboo patch and my bamboo in pots. The bamboo does a good job of camouflaging my grow… just not the sweet smell!

My suggestion is to try in pots or planters and see how you like it. The bamboo only really grows in summer for what its worth.

I’d go with outdoor carpet on the 6 foot mesh first suggested. I’d use carpet tack strips and staples as fasteners. Fold the edges over the mesh and use the tack strips under the carpet like border along the top and bottom. Then staple the tack strips from the other side. Also could add some to the middle like an x between each post for when the wind blows the opposite direction. I’d put the x on the opposite side because the mesh will do fine on it’s own on the outer panel.
