Check out my perpetual grow!

So I talked with PNWStrainHunter about the AJ Sour cut he had, but unfortunately his info didn’t get me far.

This is what he said:

I got it in 2017 or 2018 on a trip I took to Colorado from someone that goes by ColoradoOrganics on Instagram.
I was never able to figure out how to make it super happy, it’s definitely a picky plant and requires higher levels of micro nutrients.
Ive never had it hermie

So I checked the IG account and he hasn’t been active since 2020.
I dug through his posts till around 2016, but didn’t find any info on the AJ cut.

I sent him a message to see if he remembers anything, so I’m hoping he drops in once in awhile.

If anyone find anything let me know

Same with me. I run a perpetual grow and don’t want to mess with plants that don’t fit my style.
Don’t need no high maintenance ladies.

Just not worth the added trouble unless I’ve specifically tried the strain and really love it then thats the exception but nothing has made that exception so far except the gary payton which turned out phenomenal

Just put your high maintenance plants together for one cycle and than go back to your regular schedule

Lol it’s not me your trying to convince and that’s where the problem lies. My wife keeps saying if we are getting into breeding we gotta make more room if im gonna keep 8 face off mothers till I flower them out and see which is best. My plans are to clone each face off seed and keep a mother and then flower out the topped cuts to see which one are keepers

What’s the breeding goals?

My wife’s favorite is Purple Ghost Candy, and I got to admit, it’s pretty good smoke, but I had to quit running it because it’s a PM monster.
I am currently in search of her new favorite.

Well not sure what to expect from face off. A good start will just be getting viable seeds and then refine them from there. I got the trainwreck from jaws in hopes to reproduce the banana trainwreck with banana OG and trainwreck. The face off is just a trial to start with and reproduce

I usually do the opposite.I take clones, keep the clones for Mother’s and flower the original plant. That way it keeps the footprint of the mother’s smaller until figured out which plant is the keeper.
Using this formula in my perpetual grow. Allows me to have quite a few strains going at the same time. By the Time the clones have grown large enough move. Into flower tents The original have already finished flowering, Quick dry and sample and I can toss the nonkeepers. :metal:

Edit: Wait a minute I think I misread what you posted?
That is what you do. :man_facepalming:

I read it the same way you did. I think I might be confused too. I’ve been trying to figure out my way around that for discovering males as quickly as possible without paying for a test.

@Trimeresurus One thing that I have found that works for me. I top plants when they are very small, forcing them to produce side branches.I then take And a few of the side branches for clones and put the original plant into flower when still very small. Usually the original plants start showing sex before the clones have finished rooting. In rapid routers/need to be replanted. I cull males though. No room unfortunately. I can take clones off the clone if need be to keep the footprint small until the first plants have finished flowering. But I would imagine. This isn’t new news?

Maybe not but helpful nonetheless. I’m very new to growing regs, and perpetual growing. I’ve been looking at threads and trying to figure out best practices. Thanks for the info.

@Trimeresurus i would recommend a minimum of three tents. better with four. Try grouping strains With the same expected flowering time into one tent.
My perpetual growth goes something like this. I have clones which I grow out in a veg. Tent until room is made in one of my flower tents on rotation. Meaning everything in one tent finished at the around the same length of time. Therefore I harvest the entire tent at once. hang and dry in same tent. Then replace with new plants. with a 3 to 4 tent set up like I have, I have one for veg. /clone and 3 for flower. If I want to add a strain to a tent I pop the beans at the same time. I take clones for that same tent. I’ve been able to keep my favorite strins going for 4 years with this technique. And still able to pop new seeds. Hope this helps?

Thanks for the tips. I’m more or less following the BOG method, and popping a fem seed every two weeks, along with a photo seed thrown in for as long as it takes to sex. Three tents and a separate drying area.

Of course, I’m about to complicate things by trying some pollen chucking. It’s the Overgrow way!

Lmfao all good @anon56848724 I enjoy the convos gave me a laugh this morning! @Trimeresurus I guess the main question is are you doing a mother tent or no? I ran a perpetual before with 2 tents no problem one always in veg and one always in flower but if you want a mother tent id say 3 for sure. Next question is where are you drying? I have a 5x5 mother tent, a 5x5 veg tent which is now becoming another flower tent since ive got so many tents, a 32x32x63 tent for experiments like special runs, running mothers, or breeding, a 4x8 for flower (main flower tent), a 2x2x3 for quarantine tent and cloning, and lastly a 4x4 for drying

I put a plant in 12/12 every 11 days.
(My “tents” are actually old shipping containers.)

If you zoom in on that picture of my flower tent, you will notice a cup sitting on the rib of that shipping container.
The clear plastic cup is the type that has a domed lid with a hole in the top.
As soon as I have a plant big enough to top, I stick the cutting in the cup and stick it directly on the shelf in 12/12.
I also use Jacks nutrients.
Fill the cup about an inch full of the same Jacks you use in veg, stick your top in it, put the lid on,
wait a couple weeks.
I have tried this with plain water, but the cuttings turn yellow faster than they show sex.

My timing is all based on the seedlings, and freshly rooted clones on the top shelf of the veg tent.
I up pot and move them lower as they grow.
When the top shelf is down to between two pots and empty, I either pop more seeds, or take more clones, dictated by what I need at the time.
Fem seeds, I pop 1 or 2, regs I pop 4.

Very cool thanks for sharing your methods @Flower. That’s your height restrictions in something like that? I whine about 52 inches from floor to but you got me beat there lol

Probably about 48”. I will measure when I get home. Turkey hunting right now.
I am running 7 gallon tall grow bags.
I often plant stretchier plants lower in the bag.
