Well! I Got bored home alone today . . Washed all the leafs that had any residue from the copper PM spray (not pretty, I would advise washing shortly after use after every spray)
Set up trellis net again as branches were getting top heavy.
Mixed and Fed nutrients.
Watched and read harvest information / late flowering stages
Took some pictures with microscope
Andddd then I decided To take a small bud from each plant .
Very early , not really interested in a speedy head high either or paranoia lol. But I was bored.
Took a sample from chem91#1 #2 and 9lb hammer
Chem#2 sample ended up lookin very premature with white hairs and unformed bud I took too low of a branch
The 9lb hammer is below , trimmed and now drying for the week lol
First trim job!!
Not very good at it, especially with the leaves so close to the bud sites It’s hard to get in there. Props to all you growers and trimmers
agreed 1000% make the tent suck in pop the vents… i had much less problems controlling the rh this way as well added second inline to the system …now temp and rh much less stable
I hadn’t really known what to look for as I am just learning ! But looking at them now I would say I thoughts they were mostly clear !
Everyone I know personally says they don’t need a loupe lol and can tell when to harvest.
I don’t mind learning this way Ha ha! I am sure after a few harvest I will know the indicators and recognize the colours. For now, I will do what OG tells me,
You can see the frost change from sparkling to more dull when the cloudy milky color starts to show. I have only got a few amber trichomes. So I haven’t seen it personally but seen some pretty good photo representations.
We’ll I look forwarding ro trying To observe the transition .
The more I look at this bud photo the more I’m seeing some hermie action, like the little yellow tails . I don’t notice it person but tthat recent upclose flower shot is really showing off Somme hermie vibes.
my old eyes a loupe, and then to be clear a cheap loupe i just cant tell with it, i use a cheap microscope but i have to cut a pc off the plant to use the microscope. Been thinking of a usb camera for a while now
I had the same panic on this last grow - turned out to be thicker than average pistils & old eyes.
My 2,700k / 6,500k (8:4 ratio) spectrum isn’t quite natural light either, so they all look like bananas for a second if I’m too stoned when I go in there! lol
Thank you!
edit - stoned & forgot to answer - yes. more is more to a point. I’ve always read that 30-50w per square foot is good.
They aren’t as big as the pic makes them look - but still really happy with them!
I do use all the lights - appx 700w in all covering about 6x4 of my 4x8. (need to buy a kill-a-watt someday…) - the burples suck for photography, so they get turned off while I’m in the tent.
Those were vegged for 6 weeks and Low Stress Trained in a straight line to mimic a mainline without topping the plants.
As an experiment I never trimmed a single branch from any of them - ended up with 21 - 27 branches on each plant. I did do some defol - should have done more as I ended up with a lot of larf down low.
I noticed that each branch that was tallest began to branch as if it was a main-stem as well.
The strain is Strawberry Kush & OG Kush - the Strawberry is a pretty short plant anyway, so training just maximized light exposure and shifted apical dominance.
Should mention the lights - growdaddy dot com put together a kit for me with the spectrum leaning towards blooming since I’m only flowering in this tent. The spread on them gives great penetration.
Really knowledgeable & easy to work with - I know I’m not the only one happily running his equipment.
i use the vents at the bottom never had any issues arise from it and this is the only way I’ve ever vented the 2x2 …knock on wood probably 70+ plants have gone through the 2x2 not a hermie yet and only nanners on a couple autos towards the end of flower
