Chez Calix - Journey of a Junior grower

Just finished the transplant .MINUS one.

Someone suggested in my male/sex up pot thread to transplant the babiest… Well they hardly had root structure enough to hold the soil together. And it was fairly dry.

But I was able to do 3/4 Molokai frost.
Ran out ouof tent floor space
Im going to experiment with the one that wont fit and put it in a yogurt container. Aw fuck ! Only got one. Which is fine because they aren’t ready yet imo

Mine seem to need water every 18 hours or so now. But I’m THIS close to transplant time :+1:

Hope it works out for you.

Friday night lights
(I need a visor lol)
I bought a shop vac for $40 at Kent on clearance . Cleaned up the tent I mixed my soil in and the active tent.
So nice having a clean space.

They are getting very thick… it’s going to be time to either top them or clone and throw into flower…I really didn’t think this threw… I definitely will be topping again in the future. These girls are very different and bushy … It’s probably not too late too top… I think they are close to 6 weeks in veg which sounds insane . Well maybe not. I think they only started half way through January
Edit
Wow

So the oldest are born jan 01…so that puts them just under 6 weeks From sprout…the first 3 week since were in harsh conditions and poor root issues . Causing them to stunt…

The rest are slowly coming behind.

No excuse for the rest to stunt, I don’t know why my plants don’t stretch tall like everyone else’s…
Is it possible that my lighting is the issue??? I just don’t get it .

Actually that’s a pretty good observation about the verticality.
Compare them to mine, I only measure in cm though.

:dagger: :frowning:

Wild…I’ve had two plants grow tall. And both have been sativa.

My first grow was
A wedding cake and
Third
a birthday cake clone . both out grew the tent at 3 ft.i moved one into garage and
one I gave away I didn’t want to run it alone in garage

They all started under blurples …then subbed in a bigger “better” Samsung diode led

It could purely be genetics??? I don’t know.

I saw these led 36" light bars with plugs at Kent yesterday…39.99 I might just get two of them or 4 and mount them in the tent …night work better

I’m just using a 270 watt mars hydro LED in the veg room. Nothing special, it’s old school now. I noticed the node distance shrunk by 50% when I stopped using HPS and started with the LED. Not enough far red radiation. Other than that, it’s definitely genetic. My meat breath plants are twice as tall with double the space between nodes.

Right on…

I really would like wider node spacing . But it is what it is.
With a weaker light does the plant stretch more to find the light ? Also the higher the light the taller the plant goes?

That’s what I always believed.

Maybe where I keep the light so close - they don’t need to stretch to find the light. It’s right there infront of them

And the light is weak so that’s why I put it close

If I had a better light I could keep it higher maybe and still get penetration and stretch

I think it’s genetics. . These two are very very indica dominant. And they thick as fuck.

I’ve been defoliating them at least once a week lol handfulls of bush …just did it this morning

I did a fim ontop of the skunk just to see what happens lol… And took two branches from the g13 for clones… they were small but fresh thx again for the help

Hello  - i gave up on the booster Fan to cool my Maxsisun module pack.the. Booster fan works j@ckall . My Friend uses one taped to ducting for his intake rom exhausts. No Good for what’P i wanted It for. I had it literally standing ontop Of the pack but wasn’t feeling the metal non metal.

So -
I straight up dropped a Honeywell fan ontop of it lol cool As a cucumber now. It was high 30s I can’t even remember but it was sickeningly scary hot.

I’m gonna bump It at 100 now no worries lol
@Gpaw this thing ?

Don’t have enough room in my tents to put a fan that high up
I stopped using that light and went back to my old lights

It’s sitting on top of a tent lol

That’s a good looking grow you have going

I have a Honeywell fan I aim at the lights from below to keep them cool.

They are super powerful

LOL that’s exactly where mine has been also

I’ll have to use it at some point.

I feel that 100w is actually better than the 230watt one maxxisun sells. Gimmicky shit. …I like the bigger one for coverage but we’ll see how it does… It barely keeps the tent warm without the supplemental box led
.
And thank you kindly - I’ve killed alot of beans to get to this point this winter lol

In learning as I go  . . . unfortunately growing isn’t one of those things in life that you can “fake it till you make it” LOL

I was at the hardware store yesterday and saw these 36" led plug in bars and wondering if they would do the trick for vegging . In the summer I bet they would - im in a cold basement in winter . They also have them with no plug so I guess you could wire 2-4 onto a switch.

Really thinking Bout getting them cause pulling 230 watts for veg doesn’t feel necessary .
Icould mount a couple of these in the tent some how…I would find a way lol … maybe make a frame out of 4 and hang them (I’m not handy) edit it comes with chains to hang sick

That was the problem with all the new lights I bought there was no heat in the tents plants stopped growing, plenty of heat from the driver lol
But not enough to get the tent temps up,now my tents are toasty warm again with the old lights lol

lol yep. I’ve have had lots of plants stop growing after sprouting…lol

We’ll see how this batch does … If they don’t grow vertically something is off for sure lol
I mean I do love my squat dwarf plants …This will be 4 grows in a row they all squat hahaha.
I had two plants that grew above 36" one I put in garage alone GOT 1 OUNCE lol wedding cake. Best I ever had for sure the smell was all through the neighbourhood. Super small yield… second was a birthday cake clone I gave away because too tall lol…genetics or happenstance who knows

Oh man.
That nut butter got a very very strong stem rub smell. I had to haul my my hand away from my nose it was so strong . I was only checking the temps before shutting down the room for the night. I didn’t get a chance to pair the smell with anything . I will tomorrow.

Having fun doing stem rub tests lately. So cool that different plants can vary in Smell so much .

So …do males tend to smell as much as females from stem rubs? Do males smell much through pollenation / flower ?

I’ve grown a few plants that even in veg the house smelled of growing cannabis. I am definitely nose blind now . But the stem rubs are a treat.

There’s definitely some stinky males to be found. @ShitSeeds has got some terpenoids in that strain .

You want the case temperature under 70C.
The life expectancy starts to de-rate 70C and higher.

That’s good info!
Case temperature ? The heat sink ?/ Pan?

Sorry, case temperature…
The specs actually show a specific location in case you want to attach a thermocouple.
I just use a cheap IR thermometer and a finger… :+1:

Truely sorry. Just wakin up.
Lol still stuck

What is the case temp??? The modulatlor battery pack thing?

I just used that Digi thermometer on the part that gets really hot lol

The LED driver case temperature, basically the center area of the label.

The specific location is a couple inches further right of where you had the probe in your photo, but where you had it will be about the same.
