Cloner Slime Issues

I have a 45 site Botanicare cloner. The last two runs the water has slimed out on me. I’ve soaked the pump and basin in a concentrated water/bleach solution. Ran it for a day with the same water/bleach. Used simple green and scrubbed everything thoroughly. I’ve seen that some people have used hydrogen peroxide, but haven’t tried that. All clones failed to root and have lost two batches, so I’m growing straight from seed now. Should I just abandon the cloner and start in starter plugs or rock wool? Any suggestions would be great. I’m really frustrated by this.

The clone collars need to be replaced every once in a while, I replace mine after the 3rd use.

make this solution.

5g of powder Pool Shock into 1 gallon of water.

then use 1 ML of that solution per gallon of water in your rez.

It works, costs about 2 bucks. Same as the “speciality” cloner cleaning solutions, just without the added water.

All the collars are brand new, but am now leery of reusing any of the new collars that were touched by the slime over the last two runs.

Sweet! Thanks. I’ll give that a whirl.

make sure to keep a cap on the solution you make. It gases off pretty quickly.

Thank you for the tip. I’ll keep it closed

Stop using solutions.
Stop cutting the leaves before they root.

Are you using tap water in your cloner? Do you run hydro through out the grow?

I’ve moved away from hydro. This cloner is almost ten years old and I use RO water but the slime has got me these last two runs.

Use a new rooting dust or compound, change the water every couple of days.

Maybe try tap water too…in this situation the chlorine (chloramine?) could be beneficial.
