Hey all, So I am taking part in a Contest put on By Khalifa Genetics growing their Limon Blanco V3, this is my first photoperiod grow, and they sent 1 free seed for the contest, so I figured I would take some clones, and Do some crosses with some Photoperiod pollen I have. Did a ton of research, took cuttings, they went straight into water till i was done taking clones, then cut at a 45 degree angle, Dipped in Clonex Gel, put into root riot plugs, and they are now in a humidity dome in my 2x2 tent, under my mars hydro 150w which is set at 25% power(37.5w for the math challenged like me, i used a calc lol) and they are all wilty, I can not figure where i am going wrong. I mist the dome daily and let in fresh air daily. Ill post pics later i am in the dark cycle right now, but here is a pic of mom and the clones when they were taken.
How old are they? Does not look like anything is wrong. I usually use plain water the first week than 1/2 strength fertilizer
What are the temperatures
How long have they been in the dome? I mist the root riot plugs if they get dry. Just a light spray of the plugs with a mist, not trying to get them soaked. I also leave the dome sealed for the first 2 days and then slowly crack open the vent to lower the humidity in the dome.
If it’s cold they wanna take slower
In that pic they had just be cut.
The lung room is 73, and the tent is likly around 78 or so.
8 days in the dome as of today.
Here are the clones as of 45 seconds ago. they dont look great to me, or am i freaking over nothing?
All other things aside, i have best clone results at 24/0 with a more constant environment
Did you get your root riots to field capacity first? Get them hydrated then give a light squeeze and shake. Should be good to go under domes for 2 days, then prop the dome open and close as needed…spritz or dunk the tray every few days. I wish you many successes
I’d switch to 24 hours of light and start keeping the vents open more. You should usually see roots in 10-14 days with plugs. Some strains can be a little quicker or slower but that’s a pretty good average to look for. Upper 70s to low 80s seems to work best for me.
The were moist enough that when squeezed a small amount of water came out, is that what you meant?
@Ace71975 you have a 150 W light but we didn’t see what spectrum that was. If it’s leaning towards full spectrum flower. Expect to take a lot longer. Staying to the blue spectrum will help with rooting clones. most people have the best success with T5’s and T 8’s or very low powered LEDs in the blue spectrum. Also keeping the proper humidity is key 90 percent with a slow reduction over 2 to 3 weeks. Generally speaking a blue/white spectrum super low powered very close to the clones with a decent warm environment 75 to 80 degrees. It looks like that light was too powerful. Also might be the wrong spectrum. And you don’t wanna have humidity spikes or drops until they’re rooted. I recommendation would be to get a lower powered light and put it much closer to the clones. And manage that humidity so there’s less spikes. Gradually, reducing that humidity till they’re well rooted and then harden them off. They look like they’ll still turn around so it’s not over yet !!! Cheers
Its a Mars Hydro 150w Led unit. Its the TS 1000 appears white to the eye. Sadly this is all i have to work with and it has no spectrum control.
Here is the spectrum, just found it.
Yeah, I feel like that lights your biggest problem… you would be better with a cheap fixture that just runs T8 orT5 . I feel like that light is not a good spectrum and it’s gonna have to be pretty far away so it doesn’t fry them thus taking a lot longer to root and putting them at a higher risk for dying before rooting. It still might work though, but it will be a bit of work on your part. Keep it farther away and you’ll have to just wait longer. I believe it’ll still work for you. They may not be the prettiest clone you ever saw, but they’ll grow out of it. Cheers !!!
The light is all the way at the top of the tent and its dimmed down to 25% power, so its only putting out about 37.5 watts and its about 3.5ft away from the clones if that helps any.
Maybe a heat mat would help? I use this one .
I gave up trying to root cuttings In anything but a water bubbler so I’m probly no help ![]()
My guess is too much moisture and lack of oxygen. But a higher spectrum would help too. I tried lots of different cloning methods and switching to coco was one of the big improvements for me. I don’t even use a dome half the time anymore.
I never use humidity domes. I loss more to rotted growing tips when I do. I get best results with 75-80 degrees. I’ll get roots eventually in cool temperatures
I just toss 5ml of clonex into 1L of water. This round I ph’d to 5.8 tossed in a couple small aquarium bubbler stones and thats it if the water gets low i just top it up. I haven’t changed the water in 2 weeks.
Its in my veg tent presently running on 18/6. Humidity is sitting between 75 - 85% and the also sitting on a heat mat set @ 24° These cuts are just in stasis right now till I can get them into Soil or Hempy bucket. None of the cuttings are dead of have died since getting placed in there almost 2 weeks ago and everything is sporting roots.
My container I uses was an old Gaia green 2k bucket. Volume is 2.2L I used thhat peel and stick Cling Wrap as a lid and just poked holes and shoved the cuttings.
Super lazy man style. When I get home from work in a couple days I’ll post a picture
I did forget to mention that I did add a very small amount of h202 to prevent algae bloom. Dont know how I forgot that
Everytime I have tried the bubbler method, I have ended up growing Algae LOL
