Coconuts' Chaotic Chronicles

So, I’ve been itching to grow out some Black Lotus- one of the best strains I’ve smoked in 15 years. Thanks to some wonderful members here, I can finally do that!

THANK YOU to everyone who helped make or find these!

I’m growing some Black Lotus f1 (Sealed Bodhi) next to some Black Lotus f3 (longtooth 2024 repro) and half a pack of Soulmate. My goal for this run is to use them for my 1st breeding experiments!

Day 0 from seed
Trying out johnnypotseeds’ technique for germination! Using wet pure worm casing and a seed mat, put these in today.

Lights are off, tent closed up, I’ll check back tomorrow for progress :slightly_smiling_face: cheers!

Well, 3 days in and it’s off to a rocky start. Was out for the weekend and came back to mold :disappointed:

I think the Soulmate were far enough away to save, so I threw those in planters. Aside from those, I kept 1 of the Black Lotus f3 that looked like it might be ok, the other 5 i tossed. I think the f1’s needed to be scarified anyway, none sprouted tails. I’m gonna bleach the container and try again later with f1’s & f3’s, I’ll scruff the f1s too.

Quick update!
Day 10 from seed

They’ve been a bit slow to pop, but 6/6 of the mold survivors are aboveground. The Soulmate are all struggling to break outta the seed husk, so I’ll probably have to help them out. Been struggling to keep temps up here- about 64~68*f lights on. I ordered a heater for the veg tent so hopefully that’ll arrive soon. Went to 3 local places and they were all sold out lol. Winter struggles :sleepy: But the solitary Black Lotus f3 looks relatively happy given the conditions. I think the heat mat is barely keeping temps suitable. But I gotta say these 6 are fighters!

Still planning to germ more BL f1/3s, just gotta trim up what’s hanging in the 2x2 to free up space. I’ll start them with the heater once it’s here, and move them both over when I can throw round 2 in soil.

I spent a bunch of time this week cleaning up everything after that mold (mildly ocd, it wasn’t enough to just clean the humidity dome or 1 tent), and discovered I do not enjoy playing games of musical tents :joy:

Day 17 from seed
Getting some nice stretch from these 6.

Soulmate #1 and #4 are a bit behind, they didn’t wanna pop out of their shells so I had to manually remove them.

I attempted a 2nd round of the BL f1’s, scuffed some, cracked some, 0 germinated :pensive: i have a few more to try- haven’t given up yet!

Day 31 from seed

Most of them were moved into 3g pots yesterday, except for sm#4. It was one of the 2 I had to manually remove from the husk. It’s a lil slow, but I’m gonna keep it anyway!

Day 42 from seed!

I haven’t done any type of sex testing yet, but I’m HOPING that the BLf3 is a female, and sm#3 is a daddy :crossed_fingers:
Blf3 has a beautiful structure

sm#3 has been very vigorous without requiring assistance

Sm#2 would probably be 2nd choice, overall more vigorous than #3, but it takes support

Sm#4 and #5 have both been struggling a bit.

Sm#1 is average and unremarkable

If sm4 or 5 turn out male, they will probably be culled if I have at least one other male.

Also- never give up, never surrender. Playing in the garden tonight I have a few things I need to try

Alright, so I did a lil experiment with the BL f1. 3 seeds, all 1m h2o2 soak. One went into paper towel as a control. Two were soaked for a minute in humic acid. One of the 2 soaked in humic went directly into soil, and 1 went into paper towel.
3 days in- The control hasn’t shown any sign of life. Obviously I won’t know on the one in soil until it’s aboveground. But the results for the one that was soaked in humic and then paper towel look promising~

Planted it into soil just now and hoping

On another note, 2 more BLf3 also sprouted tails and went into soil today!

It’s been a while since I’ve updated
~Day 61 from seed

Made the decision to cull sm#4, it wasn’t gonna catch up. But sm#5 perked up and is doing much better.

It’s been 2~3 weeks since I put the Blf1 and Blf3 in soil, and only 1 of the f3 made it aboveground. I’m tempted to dig the others up and see what they look like, but I’m gonna give them a bit longer anyway.

Blf3 has some nice purple-ing on the stem and underside of the leaves.

At least I’ll have enough plants to play with breeding, that’s the goal anyway. I’ll save the other pack of blf1 for a later try.

Alright, it’s been way too long since I’ve updated here!
I believe it’s day 96 from seed

Moved them into 7g pots a few days ago, they’ve been showing some signs of nute burn but otherwise they’re still chugging along happily.

It’s a lil hard to move around in the veg tent to water them now, so I invested in some lazy Susan’s (or lazy mary’s as I’ve dubbed them). Best decision yet, watering them is now a breeze :v: the ones I got fit up to a 7g round pot plus catch tray. I haven’t grown anything big enough to require a trellace yet, so I’ll deal with that problem when and if that challenge arises lol.
