I run fan and filter outside of tent haha.
Hmm. I see a fan and filter outside my tent in the near future, lol.
The auto got 1000mL of spring water. That little pot dries out fast!
Do y’all defoliate autos? It’s feeling a bit crowded.
One of the TK cups got a little spring water as well. Otherwise everything else is still good, going on 2days 8hrs with no water – so, right on track. I’ll check again tomorrow night.
Reduced the humidity to 60RH. With the auto I feel like 60RH is a good medium to sit at for a few weeks to let them finish out veg and then I’ll drop it down again.
First night a bit where I don’t have early work. I’m going to try to sleep in – but I’ll probably be up at 5 or 6 anyway, lol.
So, I have a gift coming my way next month – and am going to spend some of it on some cannabis cultivation gear. The current wish-list is:
-Cannatrol
-HVAC for the other 4x4 tent (inline fan/carbon filter), also fans for the tent
-Lights… I have a plan to move some lights around and quite possibly set the entire closet housing the 3x3 up as a perma-veg space. I currently have two AeroLight Wing AW200SE lights from VivoSun, along with an AeroLight A100SE from them as well. The two AW200SE’s are in the 4x4 right now. The crazier side of me is thinking of moving both of those into the 3x3 and calling that tent set (if not a bit overkill – surely not running them at 100% until flower and even then will test light intensity), moving the A100SE into the closet from the 3x3 where it currently lives – and then getting two new HLG Scorpion Diablo lights for the 4x4s – because why buy one when you can buy two for twice the price.
-PPFD Meter
-Something for my girlfriend for putting up with me and my love for cannabis – weekend in the mountains with lots of…snuggle time and fresh fruit/snacks?
The price-tag goes up fast but it would be an investment for years to come. I’m generally really frugal and can’t always splurge quite this much, but maybe, just maybe, I’ll be able to swing it (and some extra work hours, lol). I feel like when I get really into something I’m willling to spend but also want to make sure it’s worth it.
Congrats on the gift coming your way, brother!
You can definitely save yourself $1700 by avoiding the cannatrol fridge, but you spend your money however you damn well please!
Cheers
I’m on the fence for sure! It’s not a cheap little thing — and I could try to dry in tent and control the environment as best I can.
The lights are expensive but I know they’ll deliver. The cannatrol it seems does work well but, like anything, isn’t perfect.
In any case it’ll be nice to fill out the setup a little bit and then cut myself off from spending for the year .
You can make your own fridge machine. Saw a great write up on roll it up… cost the guy $250 I believe.
With a humi, dehumidifier, fan, and a tent you’ll be drying like a boss. If ya got ac, well you’re that much further along than I am as I can’t run an ac unit…
definitely not trying to talk you out of it but $1700 could buy you top of the line lights with money left over… as a Vermonter, cannatrol guy lives in VT, they love, love, love jacking the price on things. It’s disgusting if you could see it in the daily. There’s a reason Vt is always a blue state.
Hell no one knows what they’re spending the weed money on.
Fix the roads? Nope
Fix education? Nope, my taxes went up 46% this year…
I don’t trust that guy and his fancy fridge
I’ve been watching this video: https://youtu.be/yUpzTLweNiU (also reading the cannatrol thread here)
It’s certainly expensive – you can tell dude is taking a good cut for himself/staff – but that’s not something I’m immediately against. It’s the biggest con for me for sure. I will say I really like a few aspects of it vs drying in a tent – mostly the consistency. With a tent dry there are more variables even with the proper tools, then during the cure/burping the outside environment will be different, etc., so knowing that it’s set at this/that and consistent seems like a major pro. From what I can tell it’s a more complicated mod on a wine fridge base than I’d be comfortable taking on right now.
I’m sure in the long run I’ll do some tent drying. Maybe even very soon – but I’m leaning towards picking up a unit as well (even at VT prices, lol).
Now, the government stuff with the weed taxes not being transparent? Uncool – not surprised, but uncool.
I’ve got some raw milk to pick up to start some LABS tonight :).
Going to throw my opinion in here but it’s just another opinion.
I agree with Ron. The marketing feels shady. Also, more and more i hear things like “It can’t move temperatures more than 10°,” “I find that my old dry and jar method achieved better results’” etc.
I have found the old fashion dry for 5 days then trim and jar to work extremely well as long as you have some mini hygrometers.
The thing is, once people spend almost 2k on it, they are probably less likely to give it a bad review because they don’t even want to admit it to themselves that perhaps it was a poor decision.
Also I’m sure we’ll see cheaper versions coming out in the short term, a little competition goes a long way.
Now if money is no concern and you have money to blow, then why not give it a shot sure.
Mr. Grow is great but that episode was made to help sell the thing. The dude got a hefty discount on his. As does every other YouTuber…
Hell that episode was straight up sponsored by the company… I actually have no proof of that
But like I mentioned, brother, definitely not trying to tell ya how to spend your hard earned cash!
I appreciate the input! No offense or anything taken negatively here. The video is totally that guy trying to sell it but also didn’t come across as totally bullshit either.
I’ve got some homework to do yet and will be hang drying / jar curing the Maui in a week or two so who knows.
I would feel like a fool, but I’d admit it/give it a bad review despite having invested near 2k in it if I do go that route and end up not liking it. Which I’m still on the fence about .
It’s not bullshit as much as a $300 item being sold for $1700. You can put lipstick on a pig…
My biggest take away from that episode was 54* dew point for drying. But many have said that with the stock setup on the item, being at 54* dew point, the dry is done in 4 days and no one was very happy about that…
what I’ve learned and what I shoot for is a slow dry, 10-14 days. If you have your environment in check with air movement and sanitized tent, I personally never worried about mold and still have never had mold. My temps will flux from 58-68*f when I dry but it’s easy as pie to keep humidity in check at 60. I’ve even raised humi when temps went up in hopes to slow the dry and even with 64 rh, no mold…
You can buy NASA grade lights for less than the fridge… https://www.apachetechinc.com/
Thinking out loud a little:
My temps in the closet are a little too high still for drying properly (74F). I could kick the AC up — but then would also need to raise and increase the lights in the 4x4 tent to keep it at the temp it current is, which I like, around 76F.
So, already with getting set up for my upcoming harvest I’m wondering how to get the temps correct for the dry. Humidity I can have a handle on, but the temps are harder.
Pro for cannatrol — it seems very capable of keeping a consistent environment without me having to adjust and fiddle with my AC, other tents/lights, etc. Con is still the price — especially if my imperfect drying conditions will still work.
Ready to just get it done and start learning from experience. Getting a bit of information overload on the drying curing process and it’s making me paranoid I’ll ruin a harvest. Stepping away from the vehicle and smoking some Triange Kush x Jet Fuel Gelato (that they’re giving me a clone of as well!).
Much love to all.
Hope I’m not coming off as a big dick, brother! I’m obviously blasting you with my opinion…
It’s only because the cannabis market is still young and obviously thriving as each state goes legal.
But this does bring in some Wild West like pricing with new products. LEDs were super expensive as they were entering the scene, but eventually it petered out and now they are super affordable —> super expensive. Everything in between.
Cannatrol is the only one and setting the price as they wish. When people buy items at any price they are saying, ‘yeah, okay this item is worth this price.’ And now companies will follow suite and price around the initial model…
In capitalism we vote with our money.
You’re a smart guy and I bet you $1700 you can dry in a tent. Get a little creative. You only need a few days for a medium sized plant hung whole
You’re all good CaptainRon!
I’ve decided to wait (for now) on the Cannatrol. I’m going to try my hand at controlling the environment with the tools I have at hand for drying and curing. The only things I do plan on buying are some groove bags and a few more cases of mason jars. Maybe some of those small hygrometers for the jars.
The lights are all over the map. I’ve been going down rabbit hole after rabbit hole. I’m currently settling between three:
Leaning towards the first link, the Grand Master LEDs Tarantula Tent Ultimate 4x4. The PAR map is damn near uniform. Anywho – I could get two of them for less than the Cannatrol and be set with lighting for years to come.
Maui Update – Near Completion (I Think…)
Getting closer! Got a few trichome pictures:
…and way too many bud shots:
The trichomes still look a bit more clear than milky to me, but my eye is not trained.
I guess I’ll find out if I see a noticeable change in the bud size on the Maui. Staying tuned!
My first auto is a little rough, but that’s on me for pot size/complete lack of any training or really anything whatsoever. I’m still excited for it!
Good Evening OG! pauses writing post to go smoke a bowl … … ahhh – better Although, I can’t wait to have flower I’ve grown (but I grudgingly will).
Tonight (or this morning for the plants in 4x4-0) was somewhat eventful. They got fed, most got at least some water (a mix of spring/distilled), and some lost some weight in the form of fan leaves.
Now, forgive me here for I may have sinned – but I gave the Do Me Fast Auto a lot of breathing room. I feel like it really needed it. Also lowered the humidity a notch.
The nutes (didn’t use the BTI tonight but could have):
The tent shots (every plant is shown in the whole tent shots, but the up close shots for some reason I left out KSS7):
The cups (TKxGF/BBD):
I think these might all be female. They’re each going in their own EarthBox with BAS 3.0 in a few weeks. The 1gallon didn’t get any water today and I’m waiting for roots to show before I up-pot it or just wait for the EarthBox and move it over in a few weeks.
GDP3:
This is my hot mess. Or what’s left of it.
GDP4:
Maybe coming around the bend? Color seems to be improving.
GDP5:
Probably the happiest GDP plant right now.
GDP6:
Maybe coming around the bend here?
KSS8 (sorry 7):
This one seems really happy.
The adventure continues!
Earthboxes???
Noice
SIPS grow different than pots. Maybe a SIP tent and 1 for pots. Once roots hit the res the growth…thats whats wrong in the Green Alley. Sorry bout that. They grow fast once they start drinking from res. Compost? Worms? Cover crop? If you can put EBs in a window with cover crop do it. Or in a tent for 2 weeks. Excited for you. Think you’re gonna really dig it.
Peace
