(complete)1981 Roadkill Skunk

I know lol it’s a little bit much. I was thinking 5 or 6 good strong studs would provide the genetic diversity we want. I was not expecting this many to show up lol

Lmao that gif makes me need to sneeze

Me and you both :point_up::v:

But I still think diversity would be perfect, so a lot of males and a lot of females would be best

That’s all I needed to hear. I will only cull weaklings. Full steam ahead!

Maybe wait until you’ve flipped and then decide? I think it’d be easier to choose which to get rid of once you’ve seen how they look a couple weeks into flower. I know a lot of breeders will also get rid of any early-flowering males. Keeping them all and then picking and choosing as flower progresses seems like a decent route to take. If you have the room, anyway haha. I dunno if you have that much space.

Yeah Iam definitely going to wait a bit to see what is what
No rash decisions lol

Here’s a few shots of the males so far

Oh, shit, I didn’t realize you had flipped already.

If you have the space and time, I think the ideal way would probably be to clone everyone… then you can run the clones to completion while vegging the parents, or vice versa if height is a limiting factor. Separate the male clones from the females to see how the females produce sinsemilla, keep an eye on the males and stem rub regularly for the best terpenes, and after their cycles are through try to re-veg them to see how they handle stress. If the females herm while re-vegging, cull them; if the males herm while re-vegging but still produce viable seeds, keep them. This seems like a combination of best practices from what I’ve been able to theorycraft anyway, I haven’t actually done it yet and it’s probably much easier said than done. :stuck_out_tongue:

Whatever you decide to do, they’re looking quite nice right now. Though I’m also surprised you flipped already, that might make cloning more difficult if you do decide to go that route…

Yeah I used 3 packs of seeds and went 12/12 after 2 weeks I think. My original plan was to veg everything but the first pack all shit the bed and it was a month before I got more seeds here and started, it put everything behind schedule and my spaces are preplanned out until next July.
I figured 12/12 with 3 packs would give us what we needed in the window I have

Could you refresh my memory on your plan again bud? I’m too busy to scroll back but I’m interested bc I think it can be a learning experience for me. 12/12 from seed and then a re-veg? Thanks, plants are looking good so far!

I will keep a bit of pollen from the best stud in case there is a really stand out female. If that happens I will reveg and pollinate that individual as a side project until I free up some space

Plant has some issues and not very healthy but it’s pretty sweet with some floral/cologne type smell. Most of the Beatrix choice crosses have a pretty sweet smell.

When I was doing some stem rubbing and smelling I found a male that is definitely being removed

Its hard to see in the pics, my phone was being stubborn but the male has pistols everywhere on it

So I “liked” your post NOT because I like what you had to say, but I definitely like that you noticed the pistils! That’s an easy thing to miss - less experienced or less knowledgeable growers may not notice or even care.

BTW - I took the liberty of zooming in on one of those pics to capture an area that seems to show the most pistils…

Yeah there were quite a few pistols, I will be on high alert now we can’t have hermis slipping into the population. On an up note tho there are some uniquely strong odours showing up

Nice catch on the hermaphrodite. Don’t want that one around. Everything is looking great! I see that one seedling has some purple tips. That’s from anthocyanin production( a flavonoid) in the leaves, showing cold resistance most likely from its partial Afghani heritage. Pretty. Nice trait for outdoors.

Yes, purples are my favourite in pot plants. It has darkened up to green now but in sure we will be seeing purples later on it flower.
