I would think so. They are cracking so there has to be some life in them. I am stumped. One seed has opened up quite a bit but no tap root. One is showing a tiny tap root starting. Yet the 3 seeds I dropped in 2 days ago without even soaking are ready to plant basically. Argh.

Not that I know… anything lol… but … I have put a towel between my seedling heat mat and the container they sit in… and leave it indefinitely on… and haven’t had heat issues or cold issues broski… just a though there on that…

There are no heat or cold issues. You can see the probe in the pic, it’s keeping that area at at 25c constantly. All the other seeds seem to like it.

I will leave stubborn seeds in a glass of water w a dash of h2o2 for several days, they start jumping out of their shells even sometimes.
I think you shouldn’t necessarily equate all seeds to needing or wanting the same things. Older seed stock will not be as vigorous as fresher stock.

Not saying anything wrong w his methods, just that adding other seeds into see if they pop only tells you so much. If they are younger fresher seeds they will likely pop much faster.

Maybe some kind of terminator gene has found its way into the line and has reduced viability with this generation

No he tried with old seeds as well bam popped… the blue moon rocks… in particular… are proving to be very hard nuts to crack despite methods or anything anyone could ever do for a seed… its being done now surely… sometimes it’s the seed

Oh I get that, all things are not created equal. But to have seeds crack and not produce tap roots is odd to me. It’s not like a bunch of them are not doing anything. That one that is split wide open from should be showing some sign of a tap root. It’s not like I have tossed them or anything like that, just not sure what to do with them. They did get a 24 hour soak in H202 before hitting the paper towel and cracking open is a good sign of life. They may still do something, I got my fingers crossed.

Agreed, I was simply adding that one could try leaving in water for more days, but maybe that was already done or you just don’t like the suggestion. Either way, no worries
