Well the scary thing there… is … you can kill a seedling that way… because if the inside starts to swell and seed doesn’t crack open… squish squash goodbye lol
Booooo!
Oh, sorry, the world is definitely scary.
I’ll stop now, cheers
I am always happy to hear suggestions. Before this I have never used H202 before, never needed it. I am always open to comments and suggestions. I appreciate them all
Hahaha you’re hilarious bro… I’m just saying thats always a possibility with that method… most Stay under or at the 24 hour mark… not to say that it doesn’t work well… but I assume when a preservation is the attempt and limited seeds etc… you’ll want to be ever so careful ya know?
you have a point there, i think that’s why some seeds just straight up jump out of there shell… they can’t handle the pressure.
I still say try that worm poo!!!
Yeah for sure… I know it works too because I’ve done it… but sometimes you wanna make sure and be careful that’s all…
I’ve heard a soak in some fulvic solution can do a lot for old germ plasm too since we’re just throwing ideas at the wall
There is on in the last 2 updates like that. You can see 2 days ago it was trying to push it’s way out but the shell didn’t split. It just dissolved away. That said a number of them have split. But why for example would the first one that cracked open not be growing? It’s got lots of space now after swelling. There is a small tap root coming off the one on top right as well. I am going to leave them go and see what they do. There have been slow starting seeds out there for ever, perhaps these are just more of them.
yeah man i just wait until all the seeds have tails or the tails are at least peaking out, and yeah i’d want to be careful too especially within the realm of preservation.
In this situation I could see ewc bed having additional benefits over paper towel. But idk, that or leave in water and h2o2 until they jump out of shells would be what I would try.
just keep it in the paper towel for now, if you see no improvement, maybe an additional soaking in water + h2o2 like @catapult suggested but that might be overkill. I’ve heard older seeds can take up to a week to germinate, be patient my friend.
I’m sorry to hear about the rough germination rates, that’s as bummer, but perhaps there is still hope.
Are they sitting on a heat mat?
I only ask because ive had rough rates on certain beans while they were on a heat mat. Even though the temps stayed steady. I decided to move a few off of the mat and after a couple days they started to wake up, I moved the rest then and only a couple more ever did anything. I started thinking maybe something with the mat was causing a disturbance of some sort internally? I have no clue lol. Maybe something with cooler temps too simulating late night or early spring ground conditions relative to where they were produce/bred.
Either way, I’m stoned and rambling, but I do wish and hope you have best of luck with them.
Outta likes … again!!! Lol I’m poor man on likes
I’d rather be a poor man spreading wealth among many true friends rather than a rich man alone
I am being nothing if not patient, lol. This has been almost 2 months now. I still have some hope, I may even try that soak if nothing happens in a few days. The water on towel is the H202 solution I soaked them in so while they are not floating in it the solution is on them. Nothing to do but wait for the moment.
Yes, heat mat with a controller. The probe is in the pics, I actually put the probe right into the paper towel where the seeds are and it’s keeping them at 25c constantly.
Nothing else ya can do but keep your hopes up. You’d almost think some one has to have a clone of that strain going .
ah i see we share the same philosophy, great minds think alike!!!
old stock be like that sometimes. I’ve tried everything under the sun with some older stock, talked to really reputable breeders about it… some stuff just won’t do it unfortunately, no matter how hard you try.
Someone must have a germ-able pack somewhere out there. Or a couple seeds that fate allow to come through. It’s in the canna-gods hands now!
Well time will tell, these will keep going for now and hopefully start progressing. Blue Kush still waiting in the wings. Being a cross of BMR and Sour Bubble it’s a great backup. I have 3 seedlings going now and will drop the rest of the pack if needed. Also got a second pack being sent to me on Monday to add to the mix. Right now I am staying the course and giving them some LITFA
hmmm… maybe some of the harder to pop beans need that lil push and that pressure from being in the water, only one way to find out.
