looking real nice in here!
Pulling up a chair as well
i’m real interested to hear what those tiger berrys smell like, i cant even come up with an assumption in my head
Reposting this from @Oldtimerunderground
Mmm blackberrys, very nice!
Fantastic
Picking blackberries as a child for grandma’s cobbler are fond memories. Yummy
Wow so those sound impressive!
Sitting back watching.
Well it’s probably time for another update on this run. Day 38ish for the oldest of these plants. None of these plants are topped or trained in any way, everything you see is 100% natural structure.
Columbian Gum from @LegsMahoney. Looking male so far unfortunately.
3x Chunky Mint Kush (Uzbekistan landrace x thin Mint Kush). Very vigorous as promised. Number 1 looking male, getting lanky, mild mint stem rub. Number 2 unknown, very similar mild mint stem rub. Number 3 suspected female, very strong offensive menthol stem rub.
2x Palestinian Princess x Raspberry Breath. These are well behind in age and coming along just fine.
3x LA Affie S1 x Afghan Hash Plant from @Budderton via @Loggershands. These have been chugging along since the failed germination attempts, they are headed to their 1 gallon pots right when I’m done posting this.
4x Tiger Berry. These are growing nicely, they’ve all been relatively happy, although they’ve all got a bit of nute burn. I’ve got quite a few plants in this same mix and it seems to be only these that have any burn, seems like they are lighter feeders. I did get water on some fan leaves so don’t mind the spots.
1&2. #1 is soapy blackberry on the stem rub, this plant is showing me pistils so we’ve got a female. #2 is more floral less berry, looking like a male.
3&4. #3 has the strongest berry smell so far, sex unknown. #4 is leaning towards lavender/berries, and is aggressively showing me her lady parts. We’ve got at least two females.
Once the Afghan crosses are happy in their new home, we’ll flip everything to flower and start working on some crosses. I tested the PPP pollen from @DougDawson on a cherry wine CBD lady and it looks like it’s viable.
Off to the races soon
Wow I sure hope that Columbian isnt a male. Those leaves look so nice.
Im liking the sound of the Chunky Mint #3 I had a Vietnam Black strain that had like a strong Vics Vapor Rub smell from a stem rub. Is that kinda like what she smells like ?
And im really liking the sound of rhe Tiger berry #4 When you said lavander, it reminded me of the discription I read on Bodhis Wookie #7
Lots of great things going on in your tent ! Im kinda jelous
Thanks for the update, your doin an awesome job it looks like so far. Ill be back. And again thank you.
Yeah, it’s very similar to that smell. Much stronger than the other two, really surprised me. Hoping to hit it with a Tiger berry male.
Thanks for stopping by I’ll flower these soon and plan out all the crosses.
@LegsMahoney your Columbian gum wasn’t happy with me calling her a male… taking cuts right away
oh man! thats great, i saw your other post saying it might be a “he” and was bummed for you. glad it turned out a “she”!
Oh nice ! I had a feeling he was a she ! awesome. I loved the leaf structure on her.
I grew a shiatsu kush that was supposed to be some sort of Chinese land race , giant plants with sativa structure that finish outdoors by the end of October, I k ok not ever found two phenols both grew the same one stank like rotting body odor the other was a sharp pine tree smell.
Following along…you have my interest!
Like others have said you don’t see too many Chinese genetics on display…
Hope we get some good phenos out of those. Don’t know what I’ll wind up with yet, but hoping to be able to send everyone who signs up a pack of Tiger berry + a pack of an outcross.
China is a HUGE country. There are bound to be some varieties that no westerner has even seen yet. The first writings about the benefits of cannabis were from China. Somewhere in China, there is almost certainly at least one valley (or other such extremely isolated area) with a possibly centuries-old landrace.
After reading RC Clarke’s books, I’d be looking in the far western part. All along the foot hills in the Hotan Prefecture.
If there is an ancient landrace to be found, I think it would be there.
Cheers
G
Cannabis first evolved in what is now western China, Tibet and Nepal. It’s called the “Roof of the World.” There are numerous valleys that could hide…well, pretty much anything, where no one has set foot for centuries. There could even be small human populations, and there are almost certainly undiscovered species. One could maybe even find the truly wild progenitors of cannabis, at least that’s where I’d start looking.
Thought I’d make a quick update post. Everything has been flipped to flower recently and I’m just working through sexing all the plants. Here’s a little group shot before they get separated. They might be looking a bit droopy, the CG, CMK, TB have all been reamended & watered in with molasses immediately before this picture.
Columbian Gum: 1 female
Chunky Mint Kush: 2 males, 1 female
Tiger Berry: 1 male, 3 females
Palestinian Princess x Raspberry Breath: 1 male, 1 female
LA Affie x Afghan Hash Plant: 3 males
I’ll hopefully be able to identify the last few plants over the next couple days, and start isolating our crosses.
