Ive heard but havent googled yet…meats are bad for compost piles
My theory is that critters die in the woods all the time and decompose and benefit the soil
So why is meat bad for compost???
Lets go with raw and cooked chicken/beef/fish

I would say there are a few reasons. It attracts pests and critters. It creates bad odors. Raw meat can carry pathogens such as E.coli and Salmonella. It can also hinder decomposition being high in nitrogen and throw off the carbon-to-nitrogen ratio in compost. Just some thoughts on the matter.

Meat attracts Critters and some of them are bastards and destructive ones at that.Raccoon Skunks and possums.Beware providing the wildlife with a Buffet.If you live in bear country like i used too man is that no bueno

@Hashpants has a friend that uses composted animals (deer?) Maybe he knows more about it. I buried adead duck unde4 a spot i sometimes grow a plant. Therre will be one there next year after taking th8s summer off of the spot. Maybe itll help.

Needs to be hot compost, no? No clue how long and whatnot. Hopefully no neighbors nearby as well.

Definitely for a little bit.We used to bury carp in my Moms garden but that was after harvest and would compost until next till like 6 months later

We use whole deer carcasses in huge compost piles. Bones last about a month

My dad’s thing was three baby sharks at the bottom of each hole for rose bushes and other stuff he grew. I never knew if that did anything or what. We just had a bunch of dead baby sharks from the docks. Haha

It’s a different thing to bury an animal in the ground vs putting in to a compost pile.

Where we are , if you put a fish or blood meal animals will always dig it.

Was more likely a fish would get it where my dad lived. The Gulf was only 100 yards or so away. Haha

If you use The Revs Spike formula in western Ny it will summon Skunks the size of medicine Balls and Raccoons of the same size.The Racoons fight the skunks for it and the skunks spray them you can hear the racoons get pissed off it stinks up the whole yard and if it rains that morning it will make you puke
