Something I’ve been working on the concept for to add to an upcoming grow
Essentially an under-the-bed Rubbermaid box, reinforced by dividers with arches for flow, bubble bars to oxygenate. Plastic mesh inset for a fabric grow bag with a hydro base with 2 small wicks woven up through the soil.
Gotta take a lot of pics along the way
Looks good. DIY for the win!

what’s the media you’re thinking of more specifically?
how “wet” of a setup?
i was surprised at how well a soggy bottomed container worked for me this year. stems remained perfectly green until transplanting…then the familiar purpley…
It’s based off the octopots system, with added small wicking to feed seedlings https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-FJ5KryxThg#
…but what kind of “dirt” do you plan to use?
edit:
also, do you plan on monitoring/adjusting pH and PPM?
That’s all variable, if growing in coco of course you’d be watching ph and nutrients. With a potting soil mix you’d be running pretty much just plain water with supplemental additions only as needed. Soil is a good ph buffer if it’s a good soil.
Hey @Niburan,
I agree, i have been growing perpetual for years now and although i have ph, ppm/etc meters but i don’t use them.
I don’t have any problems with my Ph etc must be that im ‘dialled in’.?!
i don’t touch the fkrs (plants) apart from lst etc, but iv been LITFA 'ing them to do what they do best … ,I also been fighting gnats for a good while, other than killing a few seedlings most of what im growing is/are too big for gnats to kill now.
I’m in UK and use bio-bizz all-mix soil (along with a few different other well made soils, but if i need a ph meter, its there …!
Do you use one @cannabissequoia or .??
Just curious, as the quote above suggests you may not use any .
Happy growing guys ,
Gaz
No-- Only because I’ve been limited to soil growing & outdoor. I’ve used swimming pool test strips to get a rough measure on water quality and runoff.
Their range is pretty limited though.
For the containers I’ve tried 3 different inexpensive probes and use a rapidgrow digital unit but I prefer seeing the needle move on analog instruments.
I think you’re right that if things are fairly optimal in the garden it’s a useless tool & waste of time but when I’m trying to figure out if it’s a plant or the medium that it’s in, it’s handy.
‘If I had the money’, I’d have ALL the toys and not be messing around with screw-in-LEDs in a panda-film tent.(half my bedroom).
On most of my important plants I’ve been adjusting tap-water pH with vinegar & citric acid because it seems to help(the tap is pH 7.2, 200ppm)…or use my Brita/Pur drinking water filter, which gives 6.0, 80ppm. I’m planning to switch to the DIY battery/sulfuric acid method probably.
…on a tangent about water…
my new insecticide requires that I use DISTILLED/RO because it apparently bonds to any PPMs of particulate crap…so i bought distilled and cleaned the hell out of my sprayer with soap/water/vinegar.
