"Cookies" hate. Don't get it

The first rappers I remember were the Fat Boys. And although I am Dogg Pound 4 Life and Wu Tang Forever, I also liked mumble rap. The only rap I listen to anymore is Gucci Mane, Riff Raff and occasionally some old Aesop Rock. This is all relevant to the original topic I think. Berner is probably an alright guy to smoke with one on one. My son has a Cookies shirt.

Yeah but look at your foundation… Fat Boys… Wu-tang? Solid choices and tells me you had good family or friends that also knew good music. Aesop gets hate, Idk why…

and Id def smoke one with Berner… I don’t hate him. I think I WOULD like to know why he is trying to capitalize on the peoples’ plant, though

if im on ignore and you still click hidden replies does it really count? have you met jbeezy or am i reading that wrong? i just wouldnt want to kick it with him, berner i can be around and i have, that doesnt mean anything other than hes not hard to be around.

rappin 4 tay, luniz, guce (and yes messy marv too lol), mob figaz esp jacka (everyone turned on husalah) i could go on about bay rap like a stenographer. where berner started was with equipto though, and they were considered the real irie boys of bay rap. he likely gained a lot of credibility through his connection with quipto.

if you devolve that more it goes nickatina → equipto → nocturnal hustlers. NH were probably the ones with most kill of all the rappers there, but they were a bit later, still before the flood of money that came in. savage-c was the guy with the dank, up and down the penninsula, if you came down to san bruno and beyond he was a factor in the weed game.

funniest part of the norcal weed game and rap is dudes would rap about intentionally smoking bammer. like they enjoyed the edge it gave them or something. kinda funny. that all went away around 2000. iirc bammer thing was more north of the bay like sacramento thing.

I may be wrong but didn’t in house genetics create wedding cake? Beezy was testing for them and found the pheno. Originally named triangle mints
Triangle kush • anime mints

Would have to go look, im a stoner. My point was he found the lady, he grew it, he has a good eye, i have run 3 of his personal cuts and all 3 were superb.

He has a good eye for sure, but nothing to do with the breeding of the strain. The company changed the name after he popularized “wedding cake “

The beauty of it now for him, is he will just keep making great names and they will continue to be name dropped in songs for the period of perpetuity lol

When you pheno hunt 100’s if not 1000’s, i consider that having something to do with it. I like his eye, will try n aquire anything he personally reco’s whether he made the seeds or just hunted them .

In my opinion…MANY top strains are re named pheno’s of already known culitvars

The top selling strains were not Cookies they were Seed Junky and Midwest Best.

Cereal Milk is on there. 1 out of top 10 for 2023 in the place he comes from.

This is political and off-topic, and should not be allowed to be mentioned in a thread about whether we like a specific breeder or not.

I won’t tag the mods, but I won’t hesitate to flag posts that include off topic BS and a very political reference.

This isn’t Troll it up man….

What’s going on in the Middle East is no joke and for you to mention it as a type of comparison to act like Berner is the most successful man in our industry is ridiculous.

This is why I don’t follow this thread and this is how people earn the #1 spot on my ignore list.

I thought it was fun outside of the political section, which I mostly avoided at all costs. Ironically it’s what brought me down in the end. Good times.

Politically, I feel like I’ve been in a coma for 2 decades. I don’t look at any of it lol, I live in total political ignorance, other than what ads can sneak into my eye frame. *edit: And I am way less depressed.

Leaving aside the points @Weednerd.Anthony made about the political nature of that comment (which I agree with him on), you’re telling me that you think it’s about market shares, how does that jive with that canna capitalist crack? What makes Berner so different, so real? Because he’s from your area? It really seems like you have a case of terminal fan worship of this guy that you feel conflicted about but you just keep going to bat for him over and over again. Your politics are pretty incoherent around cannabis and capitalism, especially if you think there’s some sort of riding coattails that’s going to bring “real” cannabis back or something.

All the professional projections for the legal market say it’s going to continue to head towards more extracts, especially in the form of flavored cartridges and disposables. Berner may actually end up being the last gasp of rap hypebeasts having any grip on the cannabis industry, there’s not really any room for a guy like him going forward, he’s the product of a specific era of grey-market legitimization by a criminal syndicate that chose him to be the one to take legal exposure. In all this, I feel like it’s worth saying again, as others have here, that if there’s anyone to admire in Cookies, we don’t know who they are. In general, if there’s a Lord Of Cannabis out there, we aren’t going to know who they are, getting caught automatically demotes you out of that group.
