Cool Cure by Cannatrol - perfect drying and curing

.

I first saw this gadget on another forum and researched before buying, it was shipped a week before my last harvest and I’m drying one plant in it now.

Basically the Cool Cure is a fridge like box that controls the dry bulb temperature, Vapor Pressure and water content of the air. It looks like a wine fridge but I’ve seen videos of the parts needed to make the cabinet, they’re not a converted wine fridge.

The machine comes with factory settings for 68 degree dry bulb temp and 54 degree dew point, 4 days of drying and 4 days of curing and the bud is ready to go.

I’ve always had trouble with the drying process, curing not so much, and if you’ve had trouble with the back end of your grow check in on this thread and I’ll post how the process goes and the final results vaping the bud.

.

I’m having trouble posting pictures, here’s a link for now:

Gummies in the Cannatrol are awesome. I make my gummies and put them in the fridge for an hour to set in the molds. I then place the molds in the Cannatrol to dry for 3 days using just the hold/standby stage. I do not activate the dry or cure cycle. In 3 days I remove them from the molds and place them in a bowl filled with corn starch (about 25 at a time). Then I take them out of the corn starch, put them in a wire strainer and shake the strainer over the corn starch bowl to remove all the excess. The gummies are ready to enjoy at this point. I take the gummies, put them in an open container, and place them back in the Cannatrol. They will stay soft and chewy almost indefinitely. I keep a few long term test pieces sitting in the Cannatrol to check for softness and any mold issues. So far, they are perfect. My test pieces from 8 months ago are still soft and chewy.

What’s your gummie recipe, if it isn’t too much to type out.

Gummies

This makes about 100 gummies with my molds (10-15 mg each)

Since these are rosin gummies, they are stronger than store bought gummies.

Things needed

¼ cup measuring cup

⅓ cup measuring cup

1 tsp

¼ tsp

small rubber spatula

Jello

Knox gelatin

Molds and dropper to put material into molds

Pin or toothpick to pop bubbles when in molds

Hot plate or stove

Magnetic stirrer for hotplate is nice, but not required

Baking or candy thermometer

50 ml beaker

250 ml beaker

Ingredients:

1.33 g. decarboxylated rosin (see below)

10 ml. MTC oil

1 tsp. sunflower lecithin

⅓ C. water (78.86 ml) -

1 packet Knox gelatin (from 1 oz box of 4 packets)

3 oz. Flavored Jello

¼ tsp. Critic acid - as a preservative

¼ C. Agave nectar light, or corn syrup

Place 10ml. MTC oil in small 50 ml. beaker on hot plate and add 1.33 g. decarboxylated rosin. On low heat (160° F. or 71.11° C.) mix the two together stirring constantly. I use a hotplate with a magnetic stirrer. When infused, add 1 tsp sunflower lecithin and stir until fully dissolved. Set aside.

**When using the hotplate, the temp may need to be higher-300+ to get the material temp up. Especially when blooming the jello below.

In 250ml beaker, put the 1/3 c. water. From this, pour a small amount into another small container. Add 1 packet Knox unflavored gelatin to this smaller container, and mix, forming a paste. If you skip this step, the knox gelatin will clump. Slowly add the rest of the water and mix. Add the agave and heat up to 180° F. or 82.22° C. and mix until mostly liquefied. Add 3 oz. flavored jello and 1/4 tsp citric acid. Cook at 180° F (mixture should be hot enough for a little steam to be coming off it) for about 5 minutes constantly stirring (carefully to avoid bubbles) so that the jello can bloom with no clumps till clear. Don’t take too long or it will get too thick… Add MTC oil/ rosin mix and stir.

Immediately fill silicone molds with a dropper. Use a tooth pick or pin to pop the bubbles on the gummies while still liquid. Set out for 30 minutes and then refrigerate for additional 30 minutes. Place in Cannatrol on the hold/standby setting. No need to run dry or cure cycle. It is excellent for storing and keeping gummies soft.

Remove from silicone molds. Put corn starch in a bowl, coat gummies, place in wire colander and shake off excess corn starch.

Makes 100 gummies, 10 mg. THC per gummy.

Notes:

  • · To decarboxylate rosin, use Nugsmasher on decarboxylate mode - THC setting. This is 240° F. for 25 minutes.
  • · Rosin is 75% THC. 1 g. of rosin = 750 mg of THC. 1.33 g. of rosin = 1000 mg of THC.
  • · For 100 gummies, add 1.33g rosin (100 - 10mg gummies)
  • · Multiplying THC % X 1000 gives you how many milligrams per gram.
  • · In other words, take how many grams of rosin, multiply by 1000, then x that by 0.75 for exact mg total. Divide that number by how many gummies for the THC content per gummy.
  • · THC content of 1 g of rosin is 75%. 75% X 1000 = 750 mg of THC per gram of rosin pre-decarboxylation.
  • · 1 gram Rosin decarboxylated = 750 mg THC.
  • · To get 1000mg of THC, you need 1.33 g of rosin
