Coronavirus Facts and Fiction - January - May 2020 [Closed]

The free money is nice but I’d like to get back to work in the restaurant biz myself. I’m a social creature, dammit. I also am gaining quarantine weight not walking 5 miles a day or lugging ice up service stairs sweating my ass off haha. We’re on track to reopen the 16th here in MI unless they do another continuance. I feel so bad for the owner; he’s a righteous dude (which is super rare in the industry to be honest lol) who built his restaurant from nothing to one of the busiest and best places in town and he’s probably hemorrhaging money right now.

So sad. I have a Friend who is a carnival owner and that industry is in trouble. Even if restrictions lift he won’t be able to start up because social distancing will still be in place. He has already lost 100% of his annual income. Just sad for him

Nevada USA is crushed…Casinos are gonna stay closed (thankfully) for at least 2-3 more weeks and Dispensarys could only deliver when the lockdown began . The dispensarys will now be permitted curbside delivery per:

That was one thing that I didn’t ever have to even think about…Growing my own has been lifesaver…literally…
Admittingly this has effected me less than most, being retired. But the loss of freedom to go out at will is still missed. It is a daily battle to stay within the State guidelines, but I agree with them 100%.

Our Governor is a hella lot smarter then the big city mayors.

Yeah not much has changed for me, apart from not seeing friends and staying over night with them and vice versa a couple of times a month, if it’s a nice day some stop bye, and we chat in the drive 10 ft apart. I go out grocery shopping every other week instead of every week. That’s about it.

I had one thing happen that I couldn’t help…it was the worst of all possible circumstances for me. Wound up with a wax ear block. After 3 days of trying with no relief; I had to make a choice. Wound up going to an urgent care where they took care of it pronto. Upon leaving, I passed thru the entry vestibule, where the CV19 questions were asked before you were let in. I heard a woman answer that she had a low grade fever for three days!!! I beat a hasty retreat, and was gone in a flash. I was wearing one of the few N95 masks that I have as well as a face shield and nitrile gloves. Hopefully I wasn’t exposed, but I marked off the date and where I had gone on my grow white board.

We in the USA are a spoiled lot…People in other parts of the world are coping better and they have been in lockdown for longer then we have. With all of the disregard for safety among some…there will be a “thinning” of the herd as the month progresses; and hopefully they don’t take innocents along for the ride.

I occasionally have excessive ear wax production usually in winter, I use a 1 mil syringe with warm water and squirt it in my ear a couple of times then draw out any fluid left. I do all my low key body maintenance lol, cut my in growing toenails out as well, with my Swiss Army knife and a pair of pliers, wife hates me doing it, as it gets a bit bloody lol.

Hopefully she doesn’t have wuflu, but you’re going to meet sick people in a docs waiting room.

I went for an appointment with my neurologist a couple of weeks ago, he had no staff and only 2 chairs in the waiting room on either side. I was a bit apprehensive going there but relieved when I got in there, and I was the only one waiting. I had been waiting 26 months to see him so I wasn’t going to cancel my appointment. He said his waiting list was now 34 months long. Serious shortage of doctors here.

The wax thing runs in my family. I usually get the block once a yr, but usually can clear it myself with debrox or equivalent. I have actually had better luck with a DIY recipe that I found on the net.
50% purified water; 50% organic apple cider vinegar and 10 drops of tea tree essential oils in a 30 ml dropper bottle. nothing worked and when it was finally removed…I know why…It was a big clump that had been softened but would not budge with my efforts.

I saw what they used and bought one on Ebay. Cheap at double the price if I don’t have to go back. They are forecasting the “pain” to last another 18 to 24 months!

I bought a different brand for less $$…the same but a little smaller as this one

Your doc is really out there with backed up appts…Good that you could keep yours. In today’s world…one has to stop and consider the pros and cons. For me, the trip was about avoiding an ear infection, so I had to go.

And I thought that it was ugly before!

I’m sure they’ll have to stand down and let the feds do what they do.

Could be the other way around too. This is a total mess and everyone is on uncharted ground. Remember Kent State? Yikes, I am sure the Government(s) do.

My freezers are full. I did a meat stock up last weekend when news started to break about a meat shortage…

Mine too…been stocking the deep freezers in the garage since late March. Freezers were bought used on Craigslist a few yrs ago for peanuts, and were bought for fresh frozen from outdoor crops. Now they are better served for food…You can hardly find a freezer for sale these days, and if so…at a hugely inflated price.
